The dome remained stagnant, not complete. Heron mulled over the situation. Gotta change the strategy...

As Heron thinks of what way to amend his methods, the dome lost altitude. The gel eventually fell, and Heron instinctly reached out with the Force to stop the gel from splattering all over the place.

"Be calm Heron. Think clearly. It is not as hard as you think. Let your mind clear itself and let the Force help you."

*Kyle knew that Heron was struggling to keep the shape of the gel ball, which was a good idea so that the gel ball would roll towards him. Heron was still a bit new to the ideas of Force Concepts so his handling was going to be off, but that was fine. Heron needed to think of a way to pull the ball towards him.

Heron should believe that the ball was some sort of magnet or fishing line that would be pulled back towards him. With the Force, it would look like Heron was sucking all the Force Particles back into his hand rather than push them away as he was last instructed to do.*

Minutes slip by with little action as Heron thought about how to Force Pull the gel. Then, he had an idea. Hands rose as the padawan began concentrating on the gel again.

The gel slowly rose, and remade its dome shape. Completed.

Force Pull is not dragging the object towards or around the user - it is merely pushing in a different direction.

*Kyle raised his eyebrow slightly. So Heron had finally managed to keep the ball in shape and now was possibly ready to show Kyle Force Pull. It had taken him long enough, but all that laid in his eyes was a ball, and the Force itself. What was Heron thinking of?*

((Sorry about the late reply: had a wisdom teeth removal, and was feeling ill for a few days))

Hands raised, Heron was ready to begin. Slowly, without tension, he started pulling on the gel. The sound of the substance being pressed together echoed through the room from time to time, but the padawan knew it was only a distraction from the main goal.

ooc: no problem. haven't been on lately

*Kyle raised his other eyebrow as the ball lurked slowly towards Heron. It was such awkward movement, as though Heron had never pulled a door open. Even if he was not used to using the Force in such a fashion, it should have been done quicklier, or so Kyle had believed.*

((I was beginning to fear the worst. At least you returned.))

"Is there some advice you can give me?" Heron asks as he slowly allows the gel to settle back on the ground. "About this technique?"

((Post = LAME! But I can't think of anything else.))

"And here I thought you almost had it. Think about the way Force Pull works, such as reeling a fish in. Walking backwards, turning a wheel a certain way. Force Pull is just 'pulling' something towards you."

*Kyle raised an eyebrow. It was self-explanatory. Surely this one was not very good at the Force explanations. How could Kyle get these points more across?*

Heron ponders for a moment, the explanation seeping into his method of thinking. A minute passes, and the padawan made another attempt. The gel moved more smoothly, genuinely pulled through the use of the Force.

"Ah. Here we go. Now...push and pull the ball. Once you accomplish that, we will move on."

*Kyle beamed at his Padawan's accomplishment. It was a barrier that Heron overcame with his own will, and some help. If he could perform the next task, then he would be able to receive a 'true' goal.*

Smiling to himself for making it this far, Heron did as he was told. The gel smoothly expands and contracts as the padawan became used to the basics of the two Force powers.

"Excellent! Now we can finally send you off to some quick lightsaber training."

*Kyle flung out a metallic object from his waist and let Heron catch it. It was a training lightsaber no doubt, but it would serve the purposes for now.*

"Please explain what a lightsaber is, is made of, and the rules to using a lightsaber Heron."

((Sorry for the lateness))

Heron caught it, and turned it slowly in his hands. He held a training lightsaber before, having practiced against training probes. "A lightsaber is a weapon that uses a weightless beam of energy. It is composed of a grip, activator, safety switch, emitter matrix, lens, power cell, power conduit, recharge socket, and one or more crystals. A lightsaber is used for defense or protection of others."

"Good. Now remember this saying. 'Never harm, only disarm.' This is the true way of a Jedi. If you can achieve this in a battle, and defeat your opponent in that manner, then you are a very capable lightsaber duelist. So what does it mean Heron?"

*Kyle's interpretations of this were already clear, but the boy had yet to learn the true way of a lightsaber or even then the seven forms that were all produced to fit a certain personality type. It was hard work, but if he was capable of producing the results of the Jedi, he would become a great Jedi.*

"Only disarm..."

Heron muttered these two words to himself. "A capable lightsaber duelist... A duelist who knows when a blade must be drawn, and can end violence with little bloodshed."

*Kyle nodded his head. So as long as Heron understood, then all would go well, or so he hoped. Sometimes, Padawans had a funny way of showing they understood by actually trying to accomplish something out of their range. Start small, and work up the ladder, and it would all work well.*

"Good. But remember, there is never a time where you will have to kill. The choice is only from your view."

"Sometimes, the point of view is hidden by the views seen by others," adds Heron.

A part of him was thumping with excitement, another is reluctant to accept the responsibility slowly being placed on his shoulders. The padawan easily soothed his reluctant side, consoling himself that it is for the good of many, and that responsibility would come with time.

"So Heron, have you seen or tried disarming someone before without a lightsaber?"

*If the boy had said yes, then they could move right along. If not, he would need some practice before they would go to work on refining some lightsaber skills before he would be sent off to his first mission.*

((My shortest post in ages...))

"I have not," answered Heron.

"Well, have a go at the training droid. It will help you learn how to disarm effectively. And don't worry about slicing its hand off. If you truly understand the message of the pneumonic device, then you'll do fine."

*Kyle waved his hand over at the blank wall, and immediately, a small hiss came forth with some smoke and a droid appeared out of the wall. It was in its concise form, and once it unfolded itself, it was just at Heron's height and already had a training lightsaber at hand, ignited, and ready to go.

Kyle knew the droid wouldn't do too much because it was controlled by the Jedi in the Technology Department. As he stepped back, he motioned for Heron to attempt the disarm and watched intently for his movements in disarming the droid.*
