Which you cannot do, and you never will be able to do. You don't have the actual physical capability of handing out a warning, but if you believe disciplinary action is needed, it probably is, and you can PM one of the admins to the individual with an explanation of the issue and we can actually give them the warning.

Fantastic, so as I was saying, I can't actually do anything to enforce rules. Glad we're on agreement of that. I'm not the type to run to mommy and daddy when I have a problem that could be solved by myself so basically I'm a glorified Storyline pusher.

We're not going to give you the ability to hand out warnings and infractions, as there's no way to keep you from being able to give them to people not part of your faction.

And, to be frank, the role of a faction leader is to administer and organize the faction, not to deal with OOC issues with members. Those have to be sent to an admin, who actually has the ability to hand out an infraction.

And, just FYI, just because you can't give them an infraction doesn't mean you can't tell them to cut the crap. As a faction leader you've got implied power, and that's usually enough to get them to stop.

Except that when I do tell them to cut the crap, the last three times I've done so I've had you guys tell me not to do that.

Edit: You also never did answer me as to how it's not fair if we give someone a knight position under the stipulation that they have to train X ammount in X time or they lose their Knight.

It would get more people to knighthood quickly, those who didn't train wouldn't keep their knight status, and those who wanted to complain about it not being fair we'd just point out that they're training twice the workload of anyone else in exchange for their inscrease in rank and that they went through a more strengent screening process with their character to be considered for it.

And I would agree with you if I had another way of dealing with it. However I have no way to actually enforce what I say other than threatening to remove them from the faction, or suspend them, or demote them.
It's OOC stuff. Your job isn't to enforce anything OOC, your job is to run your faction. As a pretty senior member here, and as a faction leader, people will listen if you tell them something. But you can't threaten to demote someone, or remove them from the faction, because you don't like the way they're acting in the OOC area.
Except that when I do tell them to cut the crap, the last three times I've done so I've had you guys tell me not to do that.

There's nothing wrong with you telling a member to cut the crap, but because you're a faction leader and one of the more senior members of the site, you should really be doing it politely. In the case in this thread, the member was actually right on what they called you out on. And you responded with a "We don't tolerate that kind of shit here."

The whole point they were bringing up is the exact can of worms that this kind of thing can open. It's precisely why the rule says everyone has to go through training. Because, as the member stated:

Monkey said:
Brings a whole new meaning to "fairness"!

I'm just going to make sure anyone who asks knows training isn't actually necessary to reach any rank.

Oh, and if you DO have to go through training, it TOTALLY DOES mean you're "not good enough".

If a relatively new member has already got the vibe that it's unfair, then there's a problem right there. And it completely nullifies the rules that are in place for the RP if people do just ignore them.

Because it's not fair to say to someone that just because they wrote a good profile they can skip what is quite an intense process. Some people write shorter profiles, or "less good" profiles, but they might be far better at actually RPing than somebody who's written a "masterpiece" of a profile.

And besides, training is really most people's induction into the faction, it's how they understand why the Bogan, for example, aren't the same as a the Sith, and why the Jedi of our era are quite a bit different from the Jedi of the movies.

You have not, do not, and will not have the authority to enforce site rules other than telling people to cut the crap - warnings and infractions are issued only by the staff, and you can't just threaten to remove someone from the faction because you have a personal problem with them. This isn't some new thing here where we've stripped away authority from you. This is how it's always been. Don't confuse "moderator" with anything other than the ability to organize your board more effectively using locking, stickying, editing, etc. It is not an admin title.

But that has nothing to do with this thread. Right now you guys are having a pissing contest over something that has nothing to do with training.

Look, for all intents and purposes this new training rule is temporary. I never suspected that it would be a permanent thing. We need to have this in place for a little while to get these new douche bags to settle down. Once we can calm the waters, we can go back to the way things were. I have no problem with that so long as we do two things:

1) Revise how we train, which I think is important.

2) Get rid of this stupid ****ing "I'm not a vet so I can't do anything" bullshit mindset. THIS is the core problem here.
