DESCRIPTION
The TUG-B13 Quadrijet Transfer Spacetug, better known simply as the "Quadjumper," is a cargo transfer vehicle manufactured by the Subpro Corporation. With a design dating back to shortly after the Galactic Civil War, the Quadjumper is and older ship, but one that can still be found performing a vital service across the Galaxy.

Quadjumpers, and similar vessels, are used to transfer large modular cargo containers from orbital freight marshaling yards, where they are dropped off by vast bulk freighters, to the surface of moons and planets. To accomplish this, Quadjumpers are equipped with a large dorsal magnetic clamp, which they can use to latch on to containers and fly them down into a planetary atmosphere for delivery. As time is money, Quadjumpers are designed to be fast even when laden with bulky freight, with four enormous engines capable of propelling the Quadjumper at up to 75 MGLT. Transfer pilots will often compete to see who can get the best time on a delivery. Despite their size - just under 8 meters - and high speed, Quadjumpers can carry loads of up to 500 standard tons.

Unlike freighters, which are designed to haul over long distances, Quadjumpers are meant to haul cargo at most a few thousand kilometers from a planetary orbit to points on the ground. As such, they are fairly short-range craft, carrying enough consumables for only 5 days in space. This being said, Quadjumper crews will often use every one of the days available to them; the ship can be flow by a single pilot, but can carry up to 2 passengers, with sufficient onboard amenities for these 3 individuals to eat, sleep and refresh themselves while taking shifts at the controls.

Although a Quadjumper may never leave the starport they were first delivered to over the course of their service lives, there is sometimes occasion for these vessels to travel over interstellar distances. To facilitate this, Quadjumpers are equipped with a simple class 10 hyperdrive and a navicomputer. Though rarely used on most examples, independently owned Quadjumpers may travel from port to port in search of employment, making this hyperdrive quite useful to some.

Like almost all spacetugs, the Quadjumper is unarmed, though it does possess light shields and a strong hull. It also boasts a power harpoon, which is generally used for towing especially bulky loads and is mounted on the rear of the ship.

LEGALITY
Legal. Transfer tugs such as the Quadjumper are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To create a standard cargo transfer ship.
