She squinted as the sun bathed her pallid skin in its blistering hot rays. She knew she was going to look like a lobster by the end of this. She had wanted a real lightsaber, but was denied every time. She was also given a durasteel replacement and she fiddled with it for the longest time. It was nowhere near as appealing as the lightsaber she had found in that empty training room.

She felt Casimir's presence before spotting him. It was strange to have a measure of control over the Force, as it allowed her to swim through its depths and pick out any sources of disturbances. Casimir's presence was not a disturbance, and it was more of a gentle flow all on its own, almost beckoning her. It was a hint of darkness that permeated from him, and it was a signature all his own. She followed it, staring down at her durasteel blade.

In her left hand, she held a small red flower. She had searched for days till she found one, and it was oddly out of place. She raised it to her nose and drew in the sweet, intoxicating smell. As she came to stand near the other acolytes, she only half listened to the words. She was entirely focused on the flower. She gently plucked a petal from it and tossed it into the air. She stared at it for a long moment, watching it float around her. It was dexterous application of the Force, but it came to her naturally. She fondly gazed at the flower, as withdrawn from her present situation as ever.

"Sparring..."

The words fell from her lips, addressed to no one in particular.

 

[Brand]

Iniquitous twirled his steel weapon, concentrating hard as his paralytic blade swung in a power arc. He brought the sword back to bear swiftly, completing the sequence.

The blade was off-balance. It was a minute difference, but still an irritant that Iniquitous noted after having gotten used to the perfectly balanced lightsaber he had constructed within the Order. It had been confiscated from him after he was exiled, sent away by the High Council itself. He had recieved excellent training in lightsaber combat, taught by one of the foremost Masters of the Order.

He had entered the Sith a step ahead, but he found his lead quickly evaporating. Casimir, a young human, had made large strides in skill, along with some of the other, older acolytes who had had previous training in fighting as well. The hot sun bore down on all of the students, and Iniquitous had been forced to shed his heavy robes that he had grown accustomed too. He watched as Casimir again ascended to the dueling platform, and he could see a pale Zabrak watching him.

"A petty rivalry," he whispered quietly to himself. Iniquitous had no aversions to breeding hate in his opponents, but he would not draw undue attention to himself in the eyes of his peers. Iniquitious possessed power that most did not, but he had no desire to be challenged unnecessarily and waste his strength on fools that were beneath him.

Out of the corner of his right eye Iniquitous made out the small form of a human girl he had met a few days earlier. Hovering around her was a levitating red flower. Iniquitous' jaw almost dropped; he had told the girl the existence of such a thing on Korriban was impossible.

He ran over to her, any former hope of composure lost. "You... you found one?!"

She blinked curiously at Inquitious, who had ran over to her. She was pleased to find that he did not preach about the Sith code and toughness to her. The surprise displayed on his face brought a thin smile to her own. She simply nodded in response.

"I think it found me."

The flower gently floated over to him, though her eyes remained on his.

"There is beauty in even the most barren of places. You simply have to look. There is beauty in the most devastating forms, or the most delicate. Ruthlessness can be subtle, can be serene and tranquil. That is the most catastrophic of all. Just like the soft chimes of bells when the last breath leaves a dying man. It is so beautiful...yet so dark. It's perfection."

As she spoke, the flower brushed along the side of his face, the petals gently sliding against his cheek. It was gentle, barely touching his skin, but enough for him to feel it and smell the sweet scent. With a gentle tug of the Force, she pulled the flower back to herself, turning away from Inquitious. She had been distracted by Casimir's words.

She watched as the petals came undone, beautifully twirling above her as if carried by the wind. It was hypnotic, and she felt the petals slowly come to rest atop her hair. She met his gaze, pondering his words.

"If I am the flower, will I wither too?"

She looked down at the sword in her hand, sighing.

"I cannot dance like the others here. I can only weave."

She looked up at Lussk.

"I can only guide.."

She raised her delicate hand, beckoning the Force to herself. It heeded her calls, entwining within her fingers. She let it extend out to Lussk, the Force becoming almost tangible. Her expression never changed as she moved her fingers as if playing a piano. Lussk immediately glanced over, feeling the tender touch of fingers sliding down his neck, chest, and further down yet. She tilted her head, manipulating the Force with grace.

"It can almost be tangible..which is beautiful.."

She had never been intimate with a man before, but this was a perversion of it. She found it amusing, though she knew Lussk did not. Her touch through the Force continued further down, grazing along his abdomen, like soft, tender kisses but barely touching skin. It was chilling, yet tantalizing. She knew exactly what she was doing, and it made him angry. She had a thin smile on her face, as if detached and aloof, oblivious to what she was doing.

Iniquitous' confusion over the girl's words slowly evolved into a thin grin as he watched Andraste extend her power over Lussk. The finesse and grace in which she slowly released her power made the exchange all the more tangible, even real. He could almost make out the shimmering presence of the Force covering the Trandoshan as clearly as he could feel it.

"The Force itself... it lives. It ebbs and flows, changing and molding the course of our lives. It's almost..." He stumbled over the word, his face contorting. "Beautiful..."

He spat the word as poison, almost as if his body had physically rejected it. He watched in utter amazement as her face turned void of emotion, her face appearing as that of but a space-brained girl.

Iniquitous knew for a fact, though, that this Andraste was so much more.

She withdrew the Force from Lussk as he began his approach. She hadn't missed Inquitious muttering the word she had used so many times. It caused her to glance over at him for a moment, full of curiosity. As usual, she was difficult to read, as strange and out of place as the remnants of the flower atop her strands of hair. Snippets of Casimir's thoughts flowed into her mind. It was a desire from the core, molded from within. Outwardly, she simply smiled in response, though not at him. She was not bothered by the thought. On the contrary, he piqued her curiosity even more.

As Lussk dove in for the swing, she was at a loss. She looked down at her blade, pausing to catch her reflection in it. She was fascinated by the reflection. Though the Trandoshan began swinging down violently, she simply gazed upon her features on the blade, and noted how the flower petals framed her face. It was a beautiful combination, with the sun's rays bathing her pallid skin in light. She observed the reflection from all angles. She looked up and blinked in time for Casimir to parry Lussk. She appeared utterly unfazed by the fact that she had been inches away from death. She briefly pondered on the image of her crimson blood seeping into the sands below them. It was a serene amalgamation of red and yellow, furling and flowing as one. To become a part of the earth she stood upon sounded like an elegant way to go.

But no, fate had other plans for her. She took a step to the side, as if slowly taking a walk. She took a few more steps, looking back at Casimir. His actions continued to surprise her, and it tugged at the back of her mind. She wanted to understand, just as she wanted to understand the Force. She wanted to find purpose. Perhaps it was not simply the Sith Lords. Perhaps it was also Casimir, and even Inquitious, that saw something within her that she herself did not. She raised her hand again and gently swept it to the side, as if flicking away an errant fly.

Within an instant, the Force formed into a ball of energy, invisible to all but those that looked within its vast depths. It was a tidal wave among the ocean of energy, channeled and focused onto a single being. The control came from a simple motion, the invisible collection of energy slamming into Lussk with the force of a wrecking ball. It would strike directly upon his solar plexus, effectively knocking the wind out of him. He would fly back several feet, his brute stature only working against him. She did not move another muscle, looking down at her own hand and finding her actions to be fascinating. This was a fun game.

The Trandoshan advanced on the trio slowly but surely, his face menacing and clearly annoyed. Iniquitous eyes raised in surprise, though, as he brought the blade soaring down towards Andraste.

Casimir was quick, Iniquitous would give him that. He effectively blocked the blow, and even as the two disengaged Iniquitous found himself bring his blade up to bear and taking a step forward in defense of the girl. Normally even as a Sith he would not be one to care about the life of the girl, but the blatant disrespect for the rules and his fascination over her caused the move.

Little did either of them need to worry, for the girl was much more capable than she may have appeared. Andraste, with only a casual flick of the wrist, sent a massive ball of energy directly into the Trandoshan's stomach, sending him off the ground backwards at least a few feet. Iniquitous' eyes shot up at the power of the orb that had been conjured by Andraste so casually; he doubted even he could put together so powerful of an attack in such a short span of time.

"Well, aren't you just full of surprises," he remarked sardonically. The Trandoshan stayed stationary on the ground, obviously still alive but dazed with his wind knocked out from him. "You handled that remarkably well," said Iniquitous. "I doubt I would've been so kind as to leave him alive."

As the others were engaged in battle, she was utterly confused. She wiped some sweat off her brow, wandering off from the others as they began to battle. She did not understand the concept of sparring. She dumbly stared down at the blade in her hand, inspecting it. Another acolyte charged at her. He was a fellow human, but he had seen her display with the Force. In the academy, the more obstacles you got rid of, the better. She knew she presented the others with a massive obstacle. She blinked and took a step back as a few more acolytes rushed towards her.

Inquitious and Casimir were both too preoccupied to really help. She looked back as the boy brought his sword down to cleave through her. She stepped aside the last minute and swung her sword up...incorrectly. The flat side of the blade slammed into his head. He stepped back, dazed, but confused. She looked down at her sword, wondering what she had done wrong.

"How does this..work.."

As she investigated the mistake, the infuriated boy charged at her once again. She did not look up.

"Hold on, I'm trying to figure out how to hold the sword."

A casual flick of the wrist and the boy was sent sailing back, colliding with two other acolytes on the way. She looked up in time to see two more rush at her. They looked at one another, as if they had developed a strategy. The two split off into both sides of her, both swinging their swords at her laterally. She held up her sword pathetically, somehow catching the one on her right. Panicking, she threw her hand up to her left. Small sparks flew out of her fingers and landed on the incoming blade, quickly traveling up the metal. The acolyte cried out and immediately dropped the blade.

Andraste looked utterly lost throughout the ordeal, just barely managing to survive. As she glanced over, both Casimir and Inquitious looked like they knew what they were doing. She relied solely on the Force, knocking her foes around before they could approach her. As one acolyte landed a cut on her shoulder, she promptly caused the Force to take a vice like grip around his neck, though it was a result of focusing all her anger at him. She felt utterly hopeless when it came to using the blade, however..

Irydek, in the meantime, remained calm and calculated. His movements were almost lazy, as if mocking Casimir. As Casimir backed away to take a combat stance, the Zabrak simply circled around him for a moment, keeping their gazes locked. His wrist rolled fluidly, the sword barely hanging from his hand. Without warning, he dashed forth, bringing it down in a diagonal strike across Casimir's torso. However, he abruptly stopped the charge and twirled to Casimir's left, pivoting on one foot to slice across his flank.

Casimir agilely slipped under Lussk's muscular arm; the massive Trandoshan's vengeful roar filled Iniquitous' ears, and the beast's powerful body moved to follow Casimir as he darted away to take on Irydek. He was met, though, by Iniquitous, his massive form stepping in to bar the way to his tentative ally.

Lussk's hunger for blood was insatiable, and his training saber came crashing down towards Iniquitous. The acolyte was no fool, though, and he brought his own blade up to bear, catching the driven assault. The downward cut jarred Iniquitous' arm to the bone, sending jolts of pain riding up through his body. Iniquitous eyes remained determined as he spun his blade downwards, taking a step back simultaneously. Using the momentum from their disengagement Iniquitous brought his sword flying back up, engaging one of Djem So's signature moves, the Flying Riposte, but Lussk's reptillian scales housed a speed that the human did not anticipate.

The Trandoshan's blade was there to meet the oncoming strike, and the two broke connection for a moment. Iniquitous' breath came slightly labored, but measured in the way of a warrior. He had been trained from boyhood to use the lightsaber, and this massive oaf would not put him down.

Iniquitous brought on the attack, engaging the Trandoshan high and to the right. He came in aiming for the beast's shoulder; it dodged to the side, but the feeling of a small victory washed over Iniquitous as he felt his blade connect only with a fraction of his skin.

Lussk's eyes glazed over; Iniquitous could make out the immediate blistering and burning of his green contacted flesh, and the taste of victory rang sweet in his mouth. Iniquitous watched for another incoming attack, warily eyeing his opponent. Both had stepped back, retreating for but a moment to catch their respective breaths. The fighting had only raged on for a few minutes, but the intense mental and physical concentration that went into the duel drained one quickly.

"Defeat is bitter, Lussk!" spat Iniquitous; he had knowledge of the form of Dun Moch only from reading about the technique in books, but he was a proficient enough practitioner of mockery on his own. "Would you fall to such an unworthy foe such as myself?"

Iniquitous' words rang out in challenge, hanging in the dusty air for but a moment before the Trandoshan charged forward once more, his blade raised and his mouth frothing with foam and spittle. He approached swiftly, closer and closer with each passing moment, before Iniquitous, aiming to time it perfectly extended his hand forward. Iniquitous had counted on the fact that after the thorough taunting his opponent would be lax in his Force defenses, and his gambit paid off. Iniquitous ripped through the Trandoshan's hastily cobbled together defenses, lifting him clear off the ground. Iniquitous brought Lussk up perhaps six feet in the air, holding him there for but a moment before crushing his hand down towards the ground.

Lussk fell, hard, landing full on his back and sending up a small cloud of dust wafting over him. Iniquitous stepped forward, his long legs propelling him in two strides. He stood over Lussk, his large body casting a shadow over the Trandoshan, before bringing his blade to hold over the beast's throat.

"Yield," he whispered cruelly, his quiet voice dripping with victory. "You have failed, Lussk; you have lost."
