One of my favorite writers Marcel Proust wrote the following:
"We do not receive wisdom; we must discover it for ourselves after a journey that no one can take for us or spare us."
In a lot of ways, that's the journey we're on right now. Not to be too pretentious or high-minded (this is an RP site after all), but this is the situation we find ourselves in with the IK. We've had some setbacks. We've been through our crucibles. Our trials and tribulations.
But I do believe all of this is meant to make us a better faction. A more dynamic one, with better writing and RPing, more open communication between its members, less rancor and distrust and perhaps most importantly of all, a renewed covenant between us and the rest of the RP here. For too long we've tried to isolate ourselves from the RP here.
Why is that? Now, I do not speak ill of those gone, let alone my predecessor. He had his time and his ways, but I do believe that both of those are long gone. Here is what I can promise to you as your new faction leader.
- A restructured Imperial Knights. From a new board system (streamlined to make navigation easier) to a new ethos for our PCs, we will break ground with the past and reinvent ourselves to that we can truly become part of something great in this timeline.
- A commitment from here and forever to open and honest debate. I will always be fair and I will never foment distrust or impose byzantine rules on you.
- The paramountcy of story and writing over ranks and OOC power-squabbling.
- An active hand from both myself and my incomparable right-hand men, Bad Wolf and Shiuzu, in giving you all the support you deserve: from timely OOC and IC communications, to RPing opportunities (missions, classes, etc.)
And finally, one thing I promise above all. I will always treat you with the decency that we all deserve. This is no one's personal fiefdom, and no one here should be made to feel excluded, paranoid or in any way oppressed. The ethos of a good RPing site is about collaborative storytelling, and I firmly believe that.
I regret my eloquence not being up to par for such a title as promised, or for the great things I know are coming to our faction, but those are the facts. I shall strive, as in all good things, to be as good a man and faction leader as you all deserve.
