Varook Targan

GutsBerserk.PNG

NAME: Varook Targan
FACTION: Indie
RANK: None
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 22
GENDER: Male
HEIGHT: 6'4"
WEIGHT: 230lbs
EYES: Brown (Left) and Orange (Right)
HAIR: Black
SKIN: Tan
CREDITS: 1,000 credits
DISTINGUISHING MARKS: His mismatched eyes and a few tattoos from his days as a Sith Apprentice, though his clothes hide most of these and he tends to just keep his right eye closed at all times.
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes

STRENGTH: 8/10 Above average as a result of intense Sith training and experimentation.
DEXTERITY: 8/10 While his size might hamper him slightly, he can move and react much faster than most would expect.
CONSTITUTION: 7/10 Probably far better than it should be considering how much damage his body takes, but he always seems to get back up.
INTELLIGENCE: 2/10 Glaring holes in his knowledge results in a generally low intelligence by pretty much any sense, but he's eager to learn and has found himself fairly capable thus far at most tasks. He's learning as he goes.
WISDOM: 1/10 If you consider usually choosing violence and trusting his own strength and will above all else as wise, then he's off the charts. Otherwise pretty much none.
CHARISMA: 2/10 Social skills which leave much to be desired, severe trust issues, and a darkness in him that even those without Force sensitivity can feel makes Charisma one of Varook's worst traits for those who don't know him. He knows he'll need to work on this if he wants to survive in this galaxy, but it's a slow going process.

PERSONALITY:
Brutish would be the most apt description of Varook. Even with his usually quiet demeanor, he seems to just exude an aura that keeps most at a distance. For those who engage him colloquially despite this, they'll find that he's nowhere near as terrifying as his initial appearance would make one assume. That's not to say that he's a warm ray of sunshine of course, and his mannerisms and speech can still be a bit brusk for most, but he's open to meeting and getting to know others. Be warned though: Earning his trust is not easy, but with as little connection to the galaxy that he has, if you manage to make a friend with him, you've got a friend for life. Just don't expect him to be the best at showing it in ways normal people would.

For those stupid enough to engage him or a friend in a less-than-friendly manner though, they'll find themselves halfway through the nearest wall if they're lucky. In pieces if they're unlucky. Because as much as he wants to connect with others and find a place for himself in the universe, he's been burned too badly to tolerate anyone threatening his existence in any measure.

BIOGRAPHY:
Varook never knew where he came from or who his parents were. For all he knows, he might not even have any. He grew up in a lab with other children who likewise had no knowledge of their origins other than knowing the first faces they remembered seeing were those of Master V the Immortal and the master's apprentice whose name was not known to them. They were scared children, they were alone aside from each other, and they all quickly became a family. This bond was made all the stronger through the experiments V and his apprentice forced the children to endure. These experiments either made the children stronger, or it killed them. And after what seemed like countless years, there was only Varook and one other. Then one day, V and his apprentice gave them knives and told the children to fight each other. They refused, and V's apprentice pulled out his lightsaber and struck down the last family Varook had ever known. Something snapped inside Varook as the apprentice turned to also cut him down, and the next thing he knew, the apprentice was dead at his feet and V couldn't have looked more pleased. He gave Varook his name and declared him his new apprentice. Broken in spirit, Varook could do nothing but comply.

From that day forward, V began Varook's training in the Dark Side, telling him from the start that his whole point in existence was to one day become V's new and perfect body. The master's dream was cut short however when a Jedi-led strike force stormed the Sith Sorcerer's lab. V took down many of the intruders, but sustained a fatal blow before he could finish off the rest of his foes. With his last breath, he turned to Varook and the young man suddenly had his mind violated more than any of the experiments had ever done. He felt control of his body slip away and his vision begin to go dark. The Jedi turned and charged at him, and once again Varook snapped. This time when he came to, he was the only living thing in the lab and he'd lost vision in his right eye. Without knowing what else to do, he gathered up what gear he could from the lab, retrieved the lightsabers of his master and the Jedi, and left.

As the days passed, Varook began to realize he hadn't exactly left that lab alone. The voice started in his dreams, telling him that to survive, he would need to kill and take what he needed. And as hunger and thirst increased, that the means of survival suddenly seemed better and better. The next farm he came across, he laid waste to it, and feasted on what was left. Then he did it again, and again. And each time he did, the voice got stronger and stronger until it seemed as if there were no differences between it and Varook's own thoughts. This could have been his life if the next farm he went to did not have a family with a young child being attacked by raiders. The voice told Varook to kill them all, but instead he saved the the family. Thankful for his intervention, they offered him a place to sleep. For the first time since leaving the lab, the voice was silenced.

Life on the farm was tough, but Varook's strength was very helpful and he enjoyed the labor and the fruits it bore. Realizing his lack of education, the child gave Varook an old tutor droid. He was useful and people cared about him. That was everything Varook had wanted. He was happy. After some time though, the voice began to return to Varook's dreams. He loved his life on the farm, but he knew that as long as the voices remained, he was a danger to them. So with a sad goodbye, he left to search the galaxy for someone who could help him.

FORCE POWERS:
The only abilities Varook has direct control over are some basic telekinesis, jumping, and self-healing. The rest is usually tapped into under desperate circumstances where he oftentimes will end up pushing his body so far that he injures himself.

SKILLS:
Basic survival skills from his time after leaving the lab. Basic mechanical skills from his work on the farm.

LIGHTSABER/SWORD FORMS:
His brutal and wild fighting style is closest to Juyo, but is not refined in any way.
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Biggest strength would be... well his strength. His physical limitations are much higher than most, and he doesn't hesitate to push himself past these limitations when the need arises (which might also be considered a weakness since he tends to thoroughly wreck himself in these kinds of siturations).
His main weakness would probably be the lack of knowledge he has about the galaxy, making him very dependent on others to navigate through city-scapes and social settings. That said, a strength of this weakness is that he's aware of it and is trying to fix it.
Another weakness is the dark spirit of his former master which is always trying to take over and pressuring him to commit dark acts.
Children are also a weakness as he feels compelled to help them when they're in trouble.
Lesser weakness would be the blindness in his right eye, but his Force Sensitivity can usually compensate for his decreased field of vision.
GEAR:
Varook's lightsaber: Red in color. Its hilt is slightly longer than most, allowing him to have a double-handed grip for stronger attacks and generate a longer and wider beam than the average lightsabers used by the Jedi and Sith. He keeps it in a holster across his shoulder.
V's Lightsaber: Standard red lightsaber except that it seems drastically older than the average ones even used by the older masters. Varook continues to hold onto this lightsaber without really knowing why. Kept at the bottom of his pack.
Unknown Jedi's Lightsaber: Blue blade, completely average Jedi Knight lightsaber. Like V's, Varook continues to hold onto this lightsaber without really knowing why and also keeps it at the bottom of his pack.
Heavy Blaster Pistol: More for show than actual use, Varook is a decent shot at best. He's found that toting an oversized pistol tends to discourage most unsavory characters from messing with him. Actually pointing it at them almost always is enough to discourage the rest.
Basic Comlink: An optimistic purchase. He has no one to call at the moment, but maybe some time in the future he'll need it.
Basic Datapad: Mostly used for notes and his daily lessons.
Survival Pack, Breath Mask, Ration Packs, Water Container, Water Decontaminator, Medpac, Repair Kit: Basic survival necessities
Clothing: Black boots, black pants, black tunic, black cloak, and various strips of black cloth that are used as makeshift hand wraps and head dressings. His time in the Sith did little for his fashion sense, so he sticks to black.

And here is his character profile. Might try to play a little at the end of this timeline to get my feet wet in this site before the reboot. Let me know if anyone wants to play with him.

Also let me know if something is amiss... Kinda a newbie here ;_;

You nailed the simpleton thing dead on the nail. If that's not what you're going for, well...

Would love to see how he fares in the RP.
