War Games:

As a means to sharpen and maintain a warriors’ skills, the Protectors have implemented a war games rotation. While not required during service, it is highly recommended that every Protector participate in at least one game while performing their duty. There is one rule, and one rule only. No one may die.

Every war game is different, but all serve the same purpose. To push a warriors mind, skill, and body to the limit. They are designed around a central tenet of the Protectors, one that rings true no matter the rank: A Knight in shining armor is only one whose metal has never been tested.

To perform a war game, a Protector comes to his fellows, and formulates a plan. Once this is done, a process which may take several months, they approach the Sol’yc Cabur, who either denies or approves the proposed game. These plans may include a simulated Mandalorian Rebellion, a Death Watch resurgence, a hijacking, or even a planet that is trying to pull away. Given the authority to enact their plan, the core group is given resources, and allowed to enact their side of the war games.

At this point, volunteers are taken to play the opposing side. The number of these volunteers depend on the game being played. This can range from a small squad to several battleships worth of warriors and resources. When the volunteers are chosen, they must run the whole game as if it were a true campaign. They must gather intelligence, track, plan an attack, and defeat the opposing side, a task which has proven a challenge for many involved.

The games are used as a leadership tool, throwing Protectors into a situation that requires critical thinking, combat leadership, judgment, and courage under fire. Protectors who conquer these trials are honored for their success, and given greater responsibility within the Clan.
