Yeah I've only had one weekend to play consistently and have 14 hours already. All I can ever think when trying to turn it off is, "one more turn...just one more..."
So in three of my four games, I've had rebels/terrorists within the first year. It seems to just be a random event, not dictated by something I do. It provides some early and mid game targets to take out, but at the same time it ties up my military fighting off pirates and what not instead of roaming the galaxy. It's fun, but three out of four seems a bit much...anyone else experienced this?
I've had a blast playing it last weekend for 12 hours. It is soo different from other Paradox games, not only with the entire setting and all, but also with all the customization you can do with the civilization creator, ship designer and just the general abilities to change names and such, which is a nice flavour (who wants a planet named 'Bob's Garden'?).
Despite the fact that it's soo different from other games, it still grasps the Paradox grand strategy games feeling. It also is soo much more than just a wargame, as we know much space RTS can be like GalCiv, Homeworld and SoaSE. It offers Diplomacy, Exploration and even some of that "Grain Circle Aliens" like research.
Paradox has done an amasing job. Now wonder it's their best selling game yet.
I love the ship designer! It's probably my favorite "mini-game" :P
So I loaded up a new game on large with 15 factions hoping to have some time to expand and colonize. There was an AI faction immediately one system north, a fallen empire within six stars and two other empires to my south and west within ~10 systems....had to declare war basically immediately...and now everyone hates me...not how I wanted this to go.
A friend of mine really knows how to piss people off. He is over minuses 2000 now. I mean I get to -300 and I am impressed at how much I am hated. but over -1000. Man that's like extreme hatred.
I have the game and discovered that the total population of all of your worlds somehow influences the research points needed to achieve a research. I only kept one planet and made a lot of research stations for the whole game and gave my team the technological edge that way. So... friendly tip for anyone who plays ! :D
