Checking this place out!

Hey all! I found this site and I'm really interested in joining up, but I realize that there is about to be a timeline shift of some sort?

Should I both even making a character yet? Should I wait until the 22nd (my birthday by the way!) until I start? What exactly does this shift mean for the site?

In any case, this place looks amazing and I would love to get involved!

To answer your question as to what the timeline shift means, it means we will be entering into an entirely new setting and story for the site. The site's story as it is now will cease to exist (as will all existing factions and characters), and we will be moving the clock back - so to speak - to build a whole new story set ~5,000 years prior to this one. I would recommend reading the announcements related to the new timeline - all pertinent announcements will begin with "The First Sith" as that will be the title of our new timeline's story.

As to whether you should bother making a character or not... I would suggest you wait. The timeline is set to change on December 22nd, so there is only a little over a week left in the current timeline.

What it means is the site will be changing the period(aka timeline) we are role-playing in. We'll be going back thousands of years when the Jedi Knights are at war with the Exiles who will become known as the Lords of the Sith. Starting at the end of a century of civil war that has seen the galaxy descend into darkness and chaos.

On Dec 22nd the site will go down for a few hours to archive all the characters, guides, lore, etc from this timeline and then set up the site for the new timeline. Meaning, if you post a character now it will be archived on the 22nd. It is up to you if you want to post one now anyway, but I personally wouldn't. You might want to post character ideas for the next timeline The First Sith - Player Workshop forum however, as that forum wont be archived once the new timeline launches.

To learn more about the timeline read the New Timeline Coming in December thread, and any thread with "The First Sith" in it's title in the Announcements forum.

I think Gamov and Dread covered it perfectly but yeah, just wait til your birthday (perfect timing for it haha). I'm not entirely sure if the RP is active right now with the new timeline coming in fast so it would just be a waste of time. What I would recommend is checking out the workshop that Dread linked, check out some other people's profiles, get an idea of how people operate here and then create your own characters! You can have up to 4 and can get started right away rather than waiting til the last second so when the 22nd comes around you can just jump right in.

The rules for tech are going to change with the new timeline as well, so all existing tech (generic or otherwise) will be archived alongside everything else.
