The tangy, metallic smell of blood-and lots of it- washed over Ruzaan's nose as they continued their way down the hall, falling in behind Clove and in front of Felix per Arctus' orders. The presence of that much blood was concerning, to say the least, and it did not assuage Ruzaan's fears about being hunted.

Ruzaan was in favor of heading to the infirmary; perhaps there, they could find some soap to wash out the bossy lady's mouth out with. However, more immediate problems presented themselves when the very same cranky ISC Ranger stunned the other ISC Ranger just behind the Jedi Conga line in the hallway.

Ruzaan frowned as Clove suggested finding a bench to leave the Ranger; he was feeling nervous and flighty, and still had the sense that they were being hunted. "I think we should keep moving, and I don't think anyone should be left alone in here if we can help it; the Sith trooper made his choice, but this guy can't. Maybe we can find a gurney in the infirmary and wheel him around until he wakes up?"

Ruzaan was about to carefully open the door to the infirmary when he remembered the odd behavior of the doors by the stairs, which had swung open seemingly by themselves. Cautiously, he reached out and tried the handle to see if it was locked. If it wasn't, he would open it a few inches and listen, using his species' finely-tuned sense of echolocation to scout for the presence of others inside the infirmary.

Edit: Added location header and clarified Ruz's suggestion/thoughts

Arna hated all of this. He sighed and left the group. "I'll go find the fucking generator." Being in a group never suited Arna. He only joined the Sith for extra bounties. He had no desire to advance in rank. He headed down the stairs towards the basement. That's where the guy came from. The basement would be the most logical place for a generator, it made sense to start there.

He arrived at the basement in a matter of minutes. The door had been left open, leading to a spiral staircase that descended. Arna turned on his helmet's torch function. Despite the fact that the HUD could be switched to night vision, he preferred to use the torch. He placed his Glie-44 Blaster Pistol between the door and its frame in case the door decided to close on its own. Slowly but carefully he descended into the basement.

Charlotte was not having a good time. She was surrounded by Jedi in the middle of what could only be described as a haunted mansion. All she had wanted was a place to sleep. Really, she wasn’t even meant to be here. If her kriffing nav system wouldn’t have crapped out this never would have happened. She frankly just wanted to go home. Of course, the entire situation only got worse. The “Jedi” were nicely organized for whatever horror was to come. She'd shed no tears for whatever came of them. Then building somehow managed to start smelling worse. A delightful combination of mold and cooper. It smelled like stale blood. Charlotte prayed.

She had no idea where the sensation came from, but she literally started praying. The Empress had a piece of her. Maybe Andruil knew what was happening, maybe she cared? Maybe rescue was on the way? All foolish hopes that made no sense but came to her mind just the same. Fear had a funny way of warping your thoughts. She prayed for impossibilities. As Charlotte offered up her prayers, the doors slammed shut and ISC Ranger shot at ISC Ranger. She was so over all of this. The Hapan Noble had a choice. Infirmary or Chapel. The Darkness was her ally. Surely it would see her through. She just needed to pray. Whatever the Lieutenant had found would only make her feel worse. Just get somewhere safe, shut the door, and ride this out.

“He’s not dead. Drag him if you want.” She wasn’t about to carry that around. “I’ll go see if there’s a way out through the chapel…anyone coming?” Charlotte didn’t much care who came with her, but she figured it was best to at least offer. Her eyes sweeping side to side Charlotte would take the turn towards the Chapel and begin to walk that direction.

Crumbling Ruins

The bickering between Laeonas and the Arkanian was starting to annoy Senin. It was fun at the beginning, but now the Acolyte was starting to want to Force choke someone, more precisely the woman. He normally doesn't defend others, but the white-haired woman looks like the kind of person that thinks that is better than others. He hates it. Or perhaps he was only irritated because Laeo was his friend.

Anyway, Senin didn’t attack her, at least for now. He continued to walk with the others. The Acolyte saw the old lady slap the hand of the woman, who was the last to arrive there, when she tried to pick the bags. He wondered if there was something important inside it. After the hag climbed the stairs, she let go of the other woman’s arm and entered. The young man did the same.

Once inside, he saw a spot lit by some kind of lantern. The Acolyte concluded that this was probably the place where the old woman had made her lair. Senin looked around, taking in the details of the place. There were some supplies scattered around the place, a strange flower in the corner and at the end of the room there was what appeared to be a doorway half-shut by a piece of stone.

Even though he was starting to have a bit of disdain for the Arkanian, her question about who built this place caught his attention. Senin’s homeworld had several ancient ruins, some known and others yet to be discovered. The existence of the so-called lost ruins of G’wenee was one of the topics that he loved to read about. Then, he looked back at the partially blocked doorway, curiosity starting to fill the boy's head with questions. “If you don’t mind me asking, ma’am. What's inside there?” he asked the old woman with his muffled voice, while pointing toward it.

HUMBLE TOWN.

Trini cursed loudly, clutching her head as the alien shrieking filled her awareness. She sank to the ground, clutching her large ears to her skull until a horrible new sensation caught her attention.

The Amaran, despite the many gruesome things she had witnessed in her life, had never been splattered with gore before; being closes to the girl, she received an unequal amount. Her eyes opened, widening as the hot liquid and soft chunks of meat splashed on her fur and clothes. Looking up, she cried out in horror, seeing first the bisected girl, and then the muscular thing with the dripping blade that stood over her. She scrambled backward a pace at the latter, staring in shock.

"NO!!"

Trini's expression changed rapidly from fear to rage. Not again, by all the gods. She was not going to stand by and watch people be murdered in front of her while she did nothing. Not again. With a snarl of incoherent rage, the petite vulpinoid had the tiny stingbeam in her hand; it went off with a piercing whistle, a pale yellow energy beam lancing through the darkness to intersect with the space where the monster had been.

As the fog cleared to reveal the mansion on the hill, Trini tensed. She had to go there, the girl had mentioned it; Trini shook with fury as, ignoring the others, she strode forward. The stride quickly became a jog, then an outright run.

Not again! Never again!

The overall atmosphere inside the building somehow turned even more creepy and oppressing as Arctus made way and followed Livi down the hallway, his own blaster still raised but the threat wasn't aimed at the ISC Ranger. He was beginning to adjust in the darkness, hearing straining for noises other than his companions' footsteps and the sound of their breathing, and though he could hear how loud his heart was pounding the former smuggler still had the presence of mind to prioritize the safety of his fellow Padawans over his own.

The scent of stale blood was something Arctus was very much used with, but he couldn't deny that it alarmed him more than he'd ever felt earlier. His concerns were rising by the minute – what if this planet was one of the many that was plagued by the AMS? If it was, was this particular manor harbor zombies or had been overrun by the undead? Holy shit, did that explain the deathly wailing they heard outside earlier?

The desire to keep the younger Padawans safe burned stronger in his mind.

Even more so when the sound of the front doors slamming shut reverberated inside the manor. Arctus looked over his shoulder to check on his fellow Jedi, but Livi's command cut through his train of thought. He ducked as was commanded, free hand finding Ruzaan's shoulder in an attempt to keep the latter down as the blaster bolt sailed past the four Padawans and onto the figure that Arctus had just noticed was making its way past the Jedi line. His own blaster was raised for a follow up, and it was only his restraint and trust that the Ranger didn't miss that held him back from shooting as well.

It turned out that the figure Livi had shot was her fellow ISC Ranger. And while she grumbled about being equipped with a blaster with only a stun setting, Darius wouldn't have been so lucky had the former smuggler himself fired at him out of instinct.

Arctus's blaster was on lethal rounds.

I would've killed him if I did shoot, he thought, chills creeping up his spine as he straightened up, gaze fixed on the unconscious Ranger. With slightly trembling fingers he switched his blaster's setting into stun, suddenly overcome by the fear of making the mistake of killing anyone who would pop out of nowhere like Darius did.

The situation they found themselves in gave Arctus a choice he never wanted to make, the reason why the Jedi Line existed in the first place. With Darius unconscious they were temporarily one man short, and despite not knowing both Rangers personally he still didn't want either of them to be alone when trouble came.

Charlie emerged from the shadows, her voice announcing her presence before she appeared. He shared hers, Clove's, and Ruzaan's thoughts about not leaving Darius behind. The former smuggler approached the unconscious Ranger and hauled the latter up, slinging one of Darius's arms over his shoulder and began to half-carry and half-drag the man. When Charlie announced that she would head off to the chapel to find an exit, Arctus glanced at the unconscious Darius then back at the Hapan woman.

"Go ahead, I'll be right behind you," he told her but she had already began walking off. Arctus turned to look at Ruzaan who was attempting to open the door to the infirmary, then at Felix and Clove. "Felix, stay with Ruzaan and Clove. I'll be going after Charlie once we find a wheelchair to dump– I mean, use to carry this guy."

Gaze shifting towards the door Ruzaan was trying to open, Arctus once again aimed his blaster ahead, ready to shoot a stun bolt if anyone or anything came rushing out of the infirmary.

Maker, please, the Padawan pleaded. Don't make this godsdamned planet turn out to be an AMS hotspot or some other related shit.

He reached the woman at the same time as the others, sizing her up as he approached. A Zabrak was the first to offer her help and he lifted her off the ground as Cinere reached a stop. There was a small group huddled around her, which only made things weirder. Looking around, none of the other people looked like they were from here either. And they all looked just as confused as him.

Cinere was about to open his mouth to say something when a large, hulking shadow appeared from the fog. He blinked and when he opened his eyes, gore splattered against his chest forcefully from the powerful impact of the weapon on the woman's head. He watched the decapitated body collapse and the figure fade away, aware that there was nothing to do and they were very likely defenseless.

The fog cleared just enough for them to see a house, and he looked around at the group again. A silence had settled over the scene, the corpse quite clearly the elephant in the room. Cinere was never the type to try to rationalize when that was impossible, so he spoke up for the first time since joining the group.

"Only way to go is forward," he chimed in, echoing a slogan seen often on the new Imperial propaganda posters that had started publication with the restructuring of the army.

She looked so small.

How could he keep focusing on his own problems when there was someone so small, so vulnerable, who needed his help? He didn't even know what he could do to help but, damn it, he would do everything he could for her. How could he do otherwise and consider himself a good man, let alone a good Jedi? Her hand was so cold in his own but that was alright - he would make sure that she got chance to warm up. She must have been out for a long time considering the air around them wasn't too bad.

Poor circulation maybe?

He turned to the woman with the large ears and made a mental note of the young girl's name before waving slightly to Trini.

"Crix Aran - Jedi."

Brief and to the point but without a breath wasted - and it was a good thing too. A scream tore through his mind and it was everything he could do to keep himself from squeezing his eyes shut and trying to block out the rest of the world. It was only because he hadn't closed his eyes that he was able to see the hulking figure as it appeared.

Paralyzed by the pain and unable to stop the blade as it cleaved through the little girl.

How could he consider himself a good man if he didn't help this little girl in need?

"NO!"

His lightsaber igniting, he swung for the figure as soon as he was able to force himself to move, ignoring the splattering of child all over his front in that instant. When his blade cut through nothing but retreating fog he stood there, hyperventilating.

The lightsaber winked off.

Her name was Allery and she was all over him.

Crix stared down at the bisected body of the child he had failed to save mere seconds after resolving to help her and he felt physically sick. The gore was bad but it wasn't the reason he felt so sick, so nauseated to such an incredible degree. Bile thick in his throat, Crix staggered away from the corpse of the child.

Fear.

Revulsion.

Anger.

It all swirled in his chest, burning like a furnace, and it hurt to keep it there but he refused, point blank refused, to let it out. To let it pollute him even as he aggressively tried to wipe some of the blood and brains from his face.

Wipe some of Allery off of him.

"I wanna kill it..." he whispered despite himself as he started to trudge up to the manner house, "There is emotion yet peace... emotion yet peace... peace yet... I will KILL it..."

HUMBLE TOWN
Eri had barely begun to reorient herself from her near mental crisis when the screeching began. She honestly didn't care, covering her ears in annoyance and wincing at the strength of the sound. It still wasn't near as bad as what might happen if she never regained control over her own mind. Her eyes were on the ground, avoiding contact with the young woman weeping on the floor. Then she sensed motion.

Her head jerked up and she took a step back as a massive blade swung in her general direction. It only took a second to realize the attack was not projected towards her...but she still suffered a consequence. Blood, brains, and gore spattered all over Eri's white skin, contrasting sharply. She inhaled the scent, in complete shock. Oh hell no. Get me the fuck out of here.
That we can agree on. Her hands were not the only thing trembling anymore; her whole body was shaking violently. The sudden distance from the force, the voice in her head, the death of the woman right in front of her...

Eri had killed plenty of people in much more violent ways, but this was something different. She couldn't explain it; it was too much. She glared at @Cinere Autem and hissed, "You're wrong. That...thing didn't come from the direction I think my ship is...so there's backwards as well." At that moment, Eri realized she had no sense of direction; the fog had receded, but she didn't know how many times she had changed directions in a near drunken stupor.

No matter. She wasn't going where this damned thing wanted them to go; she wasn't going to listen to the word of someone who now lay on the ground in two pieces. Without saying anything else, she turned around 180 degrees and began walking towards the thick fog again, hoping she wouldn't smack into some hidden building or invisible demon.

She slipped on her mask and grabbed both lightsabers, holding them out in front of her, still shut off to avoid attention; she wouldn't die weeping on the floor.

Her eyes glinted red as she let go, strutting alone into the abyss.

Watching the young woman speaking with the Zabrak who had approached her, Ashla's brows furrowed in a frown as she noticed the woman wince as she began speaking. That was when a whole lot of things happened all at once. The woman fell to her knees, arms covering her ears. Ashla half expected her to start screaming, but instead what she heard was something else altogether.

She couldn't make out what was said, she couldn't make out how many voices said it, and as they rose in volume all she could do was assume that this was what had brought the woman to her knees, what she was trying to shut out. And then it was gone, almost as suddenly as it has started, replaced by silence. And in that silence was the figure, who seemed to be there yet not there. As it reached out an hand to her, the young Togruta finally ripped her eyes away from the figure to glance at those around her, to get some sort of reaction. But their eyes seemed to be no the woman, which only made this situation all the more curious.

She started reaching out, a little hesitantly, till the scream made her pause. She watched in horror as the young woman was bisected by a figure that emerged from the fog, and slipped back just as quickly as it had appeared. Her eyes darting from the remains of the woman to the manor that was now visible through the fog, her mind was racing. There were answers at the manor, there might be safety back the way she had come, and then there was the figure in front of her. She could possibly turn back, steal one of the ships the others arrived on, and get off the planet. But there was something holding her back, something that had a grip on her. Something...redemption.

"Oh bugger it all."

With a determined step she reached forward and grabbed the offered hand, ready to see how deep this rabbit hole went.

Into the fog went @Erialex, abandoning her would be compatriots to their own fates, but in the same stroke perhaps sealing her own. Into the fog, the unknown, the Twi'lek who was by herself but never alone would notice that no matter how much she tried, the way she was going was not the same way that she had come.

Eventually, she'd stumble from an alleyway into a long street lined with old homes, dilapidated and crumbling. The fog thinned here and the air was silent. There was no wind and nothing moved, even the sound of crunching gravel beneath Erialex's feet seemed muffled.

To her left, down the road, she would see a figure. It stood tall and looming, but it did not move. The most striking feature was the figure's face, and it was one Erialex would recognize - for it looked exactly like the mask she wore. Through the silence it beckoned her, something she would feel tugging at her soul rather than see or hear.

To the right, she saw another - herself.

--

The moment @Ashla Ti reached out and touched the figure before her, she would feel a sudden and intense feeling of vertigo and a feeling of falling. Everything around her would fade away into darkness and the sound of rushing wind would roar past her ears. After what felt like an eternity, the world around her would return and her vision would un-blur. She was standing in the same spot she was before, but alone.

After a moment, a being would coalesce in front of Ashla, a saccharine grin splayed across its face. It approached Ashla, hovering a few inches off the ground, until they were nearly face to face. Reaching up its hand, it caressed the Togruta, running the back of its hand along the side of her face.

Hello, child of the Cadre. It said, though its mouth did not move. I can show you the path to your redemption, but I cannot walk it for you.

Reaching out, the figure touched Ashla on her chest with the tip of its taloned finger. After a moment, it shoved its talon deep into Ashla's chest and into her heart. It would feel like someone had rammed a railroad spike into her chest, the pain agonizing and molten. It would last mere moments before the being removed its finger, leaving behind not a wound, but a black and swirling mark, almost like a tattoo.

Go now, child of the Cadre. Find your friends, watch them, let them continue their already failed crusade. You will know when the times are right to do what you must.

Without another word, the being would disappear from Ashla's view, and the Togruta would be back in the town square. Her compatriots would not have even known she had gone.

--

For the others, the path to the manor was - surprisingly - relatively straightforward. With the fog thinned they could see the crumbling cobblestone beneath their feet. The road wound through the hamlet with a steady incline until eventually they would reach a T in the road, and see a large iron gate blocking the way forward, the manor sitting behind on top of a hill.

Were they listening, the sound of bounding footsteps would be heard echoing down the street to their left. They would see a figure racing through the fog. Once it came closer, they would see a woman, dark hair billowing behind her, green eyes wide with fear.

Help! She shouted, as she came closer.

Behind her, a hulking beast, head covered in iron pyramid, massive sword dragging behind.

Upstairs, Lorcan's shot struck home, knocking the man unconscious immediately with a stun shot to the head. There was no signs he would be waking up any time soon. When Lorcan went to investigate, he would find that the man had been playing with a pair of fingers. Not his own fingers. While they weren't actively bleeding anymore, they probably had been a few hours ago.

Meanwhile downstairs, the group was down one member from friendly fire, but they seemed to continue onward, some toward the infirmary and some toward the chapel. As Livi reached out to flip the switch she would feel a cold, creeping sensation up her spine and the lights in the entire hallway suddenly lit up, giving them a much clearer view of things, though only about half of the lights came on, still flickering and leaving much of the hall in shadows.

The infirmary group would be met with a door that had been quite clearly blockaded with only a small crack to the inside. They would be able to just peer through the perhaps six-inch wide space to see that the infirmary actually was relatively full of people. Individuals were set up on beds and in wheelchairs, though most were only making limited movement or conversation. One of the people, however, seemed to be up and active, wearing a white coat and walking to and fro between the beds and chairs.

In the direction of the chapel, the darkness went on for a while before the faint sound of singing reached those that went that way. As they arrived, they would see several pews facing in the direction of a stained glass window, still quite dark and a small device that was playing the singing they heard. At the far side of the room was another door to an unknown location and a set of stairs leading up to an attic area.

In the basement, the stairs swirled down and immediately deposited into a maintenance type area. The darkness down her was even more dense with pipes, boilers, and a sticky humidity that was quite unpleasant. Hallways led off to the left, right, and straight ahead and a tapping sound of metal on metal could be heard from the room at the hall leading straight ahead.

CRUMBLING RUINS

Who built this, the most curious of the ruin's visitors asked of the old woman. She chuckled dryly, wrinkled fingers ponderously stroking her chin. "Who? Well, that's the question, yes, now isn't it..." she muttered. Her train of thought was interrupted by the accented one's thoughts on the matter.

"You're a rude boy," the old woman informed him, "Nihilistic and self-absorbed." Distracted from Ripley's question she settled slowly down on the floor by the lantern, seated atop a collection of worn-down blankets that'd long ago lost most of their colour.

"Obviously, it's powered by magic," she answered Laeonas, rolling her eyes in wrinkled sockets. "It's a lantern." Even more, questions followed, about finding food and what was beyond the closed door, what sort of flower was in the corner. The old woman huffed irritably. "Much practice and animal traps, an old altar, and very special flower only found near the clearing," she answered in order. "Too many questions from people whose names I don't even know." Ripley would get a good look at the odd shadow cast from light peeking through its petals in the course of watering the plant. The flower itself was colourful and had a pleasing herbaceous scent.

"I'm called Gamall. May I have your names, strange visitors?" Her bright green eyes glanced slowly between each person as if fully taking in their appearances for the first time since the clearing. Laeonas, being closest to the lantern, would notice it seemed the sort that gave off heat as well as warmth. In fact, getting too close would be uncomfortably hot, like being next to a high-powered space heater.

The sounds from outside the ruins were muffled now, no longer echoing down the hallway to their chamber. It was unclear whether it was some strange effect of the fog or simply the alien nature of this planet's wildlife. Only the rain could be heard, the crash of thunder, the whipping wind that shook tree branches above the stone.

  • Mik spoke out into the darkness that surrounded him, his words would almost seem to bounce back and reverberate inside of his ears like he was standing in a room that was much too small. The air around him was thick, somehow weighted and it pressed into Mik's eyes like thumbs.

It would push, harder and harder until the pressure would be so much that Mik would think his entire head was about to burst. At the zenith of his pain it would suddenly vanish, and with it, the darkness. In its place, Mik would find himself in a square room with no windows or doors.

Looking up and around, he would see no sources of light, yet the room was illuminated with the harsh, sterile white light of an emergency room. Across from him, laying on the floor, he would see a woman curled in the fetal position. Sickly thin - her skin was dry, scabbed over in numerous spots from constant picking. Hair was greasy and matted, and occasionally the woman would twitch violently.

So far, it was as if the woman laying on the floor did not notice Mik. As he stood there, the faintest scent of something familiar would hit his nostril, but he wouldn't be able to place it at first. Once he took a step forward it would come to him, though, an epiphany through the haze his mind was in. It was perfume, the kind his wife used to wear, before the accident.

    Before the spice.

Mik tried to cry himself through the sudden pain against and into his eyes, but the more noise he thought he made the less actually came over his lips as he was breathlessy undergoing the pain that would kill him. His hands moved up to pull away non-existent hands and he ended up covering his own eyes as if that would somehow protect them. It didn't and then when he would almost faint due to the pain it stopped abruptly.

Slowly he moved his hand away, fearful that if he removed them from his eyes entirely the pain would return. It was the familiar scent that hit him first and only then did he find the confidence to lower his hands and open his eyes again. He could still remember the first time he smelled it. It was twenty years ago and she had just completely obliterated his thesis that corporate use of peggats instead of credits could increase their profits margins due to bad taxability in the Core. He had fallen in love with her right then and there and-

-a violent twitch from the woman on the floor made Mik finally notice her and snap back to present day. The sight startled the Systech executive and he instinctively stepped backwards, his hands returning to his face as if he preferred to fight off daggers going for his eyes than looking at the woman on the floor. He recognized the condition. Systech had tested Jana Kang's detox-adrenal on spice addicts. Mik had never liked to watch, mainly because what it reminded him off.. he looked around, no adrenals, no spice, no windows or doors. Just him, the sickly thin woman and the harsh, sterile white light of an emergency room.

This was too familiar. It reminded him of the times he had to hurry Mia over for... he looked at the woman again and started walking towards her slowly, "Mia?" His wife had died many years ago and while he longed for her embrace every day, he knew that it wasn't possible to bring people back from the death. Still.. why did he suddenly think that this woman might be his late wife?

HUMBLE TOWN.

Trini stared up at the towering iron gate in consternation, trying to figure out a way around, under, over or through it. Beyond it was the mansion, her destination; something important was up there, although she hadn't yet learned what.

Blood cooled and dried in the Amaran's fur. She shuddered. Had the creature slain the girl to keep her from getting that particular information? Or had that been a coincidence. Ultimately, Trini didn't know.

That began to make her uneasy.

For the first time, Trini began to become aware of the others around her. She looked up; solid shapes, and something deep down told her, not monsters or locals. She figured that they must have come on the ships she had seen parked just outside of town.

"Um... I-"

"Help!"

The panicked call interrupted Trini, and she turned, eyes widening as a woman came running out of the fog, pursued by the same creature she had seen before. Instinctively, the Amaran raised her stingbeam; the tiny weapon whistled as a beam lanced out toward the charging monster. At this range, and at the best of times, the stingbeam was a feeble weapon, only capable of stunning an opponent; that is, unless one got uncomfortably close, which Trini was not.

Yet.

It was also a fairly limited weapon in other ways. It only had 5 shots, of which Trini had now used 2. She hadn't though to bring a spare power pack, either.

Humble Town

Crix wanted to make it to the house, he wanted to be able to just be able to take a second to recover something resembling his calm. The Force was both near and far - leaving him with the Force in himself at best and he needed to calm down, he needed the Force to be pure and Light. Already he could feel Darkness around him and he wasn't sure if it was being actively used by someone or if the town was actually cursed.

Reaching the gate with the short woman with big ears, Crix took a deep breath before igniting his lightsaber to carve through the lock holkding the iron gate closed. Before he could continue on to the manor, he could hear something coming closer and he turned away from the gate. Blinking, he spotted a woman running toward them.

Chased by the creature with it's pyramid for a head.

Not. Again.

Reaching out with the Force, Crix would Pull the woman towards himself but actually direct the woman to Trini rather than himself. He moved forward, pushing up toward the creature that pursued them with an angry snarl.

"Take the woman and run!"
he instructed Trini as he held his lightsaber in both hands, standing his ground between the two and the creature, addressing the creature next, "Can you speak? Can you even understand me when I tell you that I want to kill you?"

He really hoped that it did. That it would know why he was going to hurt it before it died.

Well he didn't kill him but having a conversation with the guy was gonna be a real pain in the arse. Moving into the room with his blaster pistol raised, Lorcan checked the corners before moving over to the stunned form of the figure he had shot at. The Ranger from the other side of the comlink added that talking to him about clues was a good idea.

And he'd stunned him... he turned the body over and stared down at the fingers that he had been playing with. He sighed a little bit.

"Yeah so I stunned him - turns out the creepy fucker was messing around with fingers. Not his and not attached to anyone else."
he looked at the base of them, "Few hours old, maybe three or four. Keep eyes open - handyman probably ain't dead from losing some digits but I imagine they're pissed."

Timeline of this place was all kinds of fucked.

He picked up the severed fingers even as he looked over the stunned body of the creature he had shot. The cuts were... interesting to say the least. Perking up at the sound of a muted blaster shot, Lorcan couldn't help but speak up.

"Surprised it took you this long to take a shot at one of the kids."

Moving back out of the room, Lorcan would close the door behind him before looking along the walls. In buildings like this, upper floor rooms tended to be more administrative so...

"Moving out to look for the office of the head desk-jockey. Places like this love their ominously large desks..."

He kept moving along the corridor carefully, checking doors and walls for any kind of signs or indicators as to what this wing of the facility was used for.

The door opened a few inches, then thudded against something hard and heavy on the other side. Ruzaan pulled the door back a few inches, then pushed again, lifting slightly this time in case the door was loose on its hinges. Thud. Nope. "It's blocked" he reported to those in the hallway, then squeezed his face into the six-inch opening and called out into the room. "Hello! Do you have an extra wheelchair we can borrow? Also, why is your door blocked? That's a fire hazard, you know!"

The barricade wasn't the only problem; the door opened in instead of out, which would make egress even more difficult in the event of an emergency. Ruzaan, warned by his tribe of the dangers of structural fires when he left Shili, had spent several frantic hours at the temple researching fire safety before his fellow padawans had convinced him that such fires were incredibly rare; however, he knew enough to guess that if a fire broke out here, the residents of this infirmary wouldn't stand a chance.

Crumbling ruins

Drak sat down at a comfortable distance away from the lantern, taking his blaster and flame projector out and just tinkering with them, making sure they were still functional after his unfortunate landing, coming to the conclusion that they were still fine and fully operational, the Mandalorian decided to simply sit down and listen...And good lord there was a lot to listen.

The old lady was definitely right, these people talked way too much and asked so many questions, Drak had to admit he was a bit curious about such things but with how long they were going to stay here he didn't really need to hear the answers to those. And even if he did, there was just no need to bombard her with questions one after the other.

But well, that was something Drak wasn't really surprised by, manners didn't seem like a prevalent thing in this group, seeing how some of them were ready to tear each other's throats already "Drak Vúlfur." The Mandalorian decided to reveal his name first, it was the least he could do after the woman invited them to her home, but other than that he kept his mouth shut unless asked something, there was enough talking without him adding to it, they didn't need it.

Crumbling Ruin

Kneeling near the elderly woman as the discussion continued to circulate through the group, Sah’ra remained silent as she considered whom the builders of these ruins may have been. The structure was obviously ancient and quite primitive in it’s design. While Canary may sound and appear to be unbearably eccentric, the woman would struggle with disagreeing with his claim; that the builders were quite clearly lacking in ways of technology and likely only occupied this singular world. Unlike the eccentric one however, Sah’ra did not immediately dismiss the potential knowledge that could be gained from learning about them, the partially blocked door at the back of the chamber growing in enticement. After all, they would be forced to stay sheltered in this place until the morning at the very earliest. What else was there to do in the meantime other than examine these ruins and learn about where they were?

As their elderly host quipped about the lantern being lit by magic, Sah’ra suppressed a soft chuckle and smirk. She certainly did not look forward to the day she herself became an irritable old lady surrounded by the younger generation but if she was even half as spry and witty as their host, then she supposed it wouldn’t be all bad.

”My name is Sah’ra. I must thank you for inviting us into your home, Gamall,” Finally introducing herself, Sah’ra would bow her head towards the elder politely with a soft smile. She would wait and allow the others of their group to offer their own introductions though her eyes would continuously be pulled back towards the darkened door at the far end of the chamber. Gamall’s mention of an ancient altar only further prodded her curiosity, prompting the woman back to her feet as she casually made her way over.

The noises of the forest had diminished now, leaving only the sounds of rainfall and the odd crack of thunder breaking the silence that enveloped Sah’ra as she hovered her hand above the slab of stone that barricaded the passage. While Gamall may have been small enough in size to slip beneath and into the adjoining chamber, she doubted that she could do the same. Sah’ra soon found herself parched, not for water but for knowledge. Whatever laid beyond this door, be it a simple altar as Gamall suggested or something more, she needed to see it.

Sah’ra knew no one here. She had no clue that there were other Force Sensitive individuals in this group and was reluctant to give away her own talents lest there be an enemy of the Sith amongst them. She could easily move the slab aside with her own abilities but doing so forthright was a risk she was not yet willing to take.

”I would very much like to see this altar for myself,” Sah’ra announced over her shoulder to the group though keeping her focus on the stone slab before finally turning to speak to Gamall directly. ”With your permission, of course. I do not wish to intrude,” If the elder granted her blessing, Sah’ra would motion for any other curious individuals to come and assist her in pushing the barrier aside, amplifying their efforts through the Force if necessary. Of course, the slab was large and would require at least a few others to make their physical endeavor convincing.

Felix was mortified to hear Arctus say he was in charge of the other two while he split off to go to the chapel to find a way out, he wasn't ready to lead other padawans, he barely could keep himself on the straight and narrow, now he had to make sure the other did too. he let out a deep breath, to try to calm and clear his head of the anxiety he was feeling. i can do, I can do this. he repeated the words in his head.

"Ruzaan, I don't think they were concerned with fire regulation when they made the barricade, I think you what should be more concern about is what they were trying to keep out of the infirmy" there was apprehension in his voice as he spoke. His whole body was turned down the hallway from whence they came, watching their backs because they certainly knew now they weren't alone. "Right now I think we should sit tight and wait for arctus' return, alright?"

Clove gave a deadpan. Not only had Arctus decided to split up with them after they discovered a wheelchair, but they also had discovered there's people in the infirmary. An infirmary with a blockade.

They were trying to keep somebody, or something, out.

Clove rose on her toes and squinted to get a better look at the people inside the infirmary once she was able to get to the opening. Were they wounded? Were they sick with an illness? Did the nurse need any help?

The half-Sephi exhaled some air and took a step back from the door. Every fiber of her being screamed at her to either flee or enter the infirmary and help them. Neither appeared to be a good idea. But staying open in a hallway with something clearly running around seemed like an even worse idea. Still, she was aware enough to know that she shouldn't be making calls, so she remained silent, her hands nervously fiddling with a strand of hair.

Senin decided to sit away from the lantern. He rolled his eyes when the old woman said that the lantern was powered by magic. The Acolyte became more interested in her saying that behind the doorway there was an altar. He wondered who could have built this place. Recently his interest in ancient ruins and mythology had grown, with him reading several articles about these subjects. However, he never read about a culture with this type of architecture.

When the old woman, who identified herself as Gamall, asked for their names, the Acolyte thought what he should do. With Laeonas being there, he would never give his true name. Senin didn’t want the older man to discover that he was a Sith. The Brentaalan was his friend, but this was a part of his life that he wasn’t prepared to share.

I’m Arlequim” he said in his muffled voice. Then he turned his eyes to the doorway, still curious with what type of altar could be there.

Wonderful. The mansion somehow became creepier. Charlotte felt as if the darkness extended for ages while she walked until finally a soft sound greet her. Signing. Finally, someone who could tell her what the fuck was going on. Of course, it was not so simply. The Hapan Sith found herself in a church of sorts with pews facing the front. Her eyes locked onto the stained-glass window. It was so dark. She resisted the urge to light her saber. There were still those Jedi hanging about. Charlotte hadn’t brought a flashlight and conjuring illumination in the Force escaped her. One thing was certain…she was not taking any spooky stairs.

The music kept playing from the box. She warily approached the small device. Charlotte would bend down to pick it up and inspect the music player. If the device proved uninteresting, she would look around the room for a light switch. Regardless, she remained ever vigilant. Darkness keep her safe.
