Pyke Syndicate: More then one way to skin a Zygerrian

Becoming a high ranking syndicate member, takes more then just style and leadership, it take influence. Influence can take you a long way, as a Syndicate it expands your interests, as an individual it expands your profits and potential employers, as a leader on the rise however, it makes friends with those who can either make or sink your ship. Since the shadow of ISC interference has loomed since the 5S have raised a sizeable fleet, those in charge have put expanding our fleet on hold to not further poke the Dragon so to speak. Instead, as a wise yet ugly Hutt boss said, there is more ways to take or influence a planet then to invade and just take it by force. @Mae Tecono purposes just that. She has created this mission pack to spread the influence of herself, the Pykes, and yes, the rest of the other Syndicates as well. She intends to spread corruption in the form of underground criminal organizations throughout the galaxy. And with this net of corruption, expand the invisible borders of the Five Syndicates territory.

This will initially benefit the Pykes but if successful, will eventually benefit the Five Syndicates as a whole, so I urge all 5S Players to participate.

Although I have given ideas of how to spread corruption for each planet, the way and plan is completely up to those involved. This is a very large mission pack and is being launched amid a torrent of many other packs, because of this, I hope that participants will take their time with these and are in no real hurry in completing them.

  • Teth [ip]
Teth is a key planet just outside of Syndicate space. It does not hold a population large enough to host many cities or towns which makes it's primary benefit as a home to many syndicate strongholds and other less reputable individuals strongholds as well. The way to gain influence here is setting up a black market fence. Somewhere local for these individuals of lower morals to off load their stolen wares. (Self DM 2-3 participants)
1: @Mae Tecono
foc44Zn.jpg

  • Mandell [ON HOLD]
Mandell is a Bothan Colony made up of mostly farmers. To spread corruption to this planet, we will be controlling the infestation levels of the Radarks that infest the farmland there. However you see fit, as a way to either intimidate, blackmail, or way of protection, are key components here. (OPEN)
1: @Mae Tecono

foc44Zn.jpg

  • Bothawui [ON HOLD]
Bothawui is a key planet in the ISC and has some large cities within it's jungled surface that are ripe for corruption. This one is an open book for those who want to attempt it, however, the drive yards are a tasty target to get a taste of. (OPEN)
1: @Mae Tecono

foc44Zn.jpg

  • Lannik [ip]
Lannik looks small and unemportant, but hosts a population near a billion. The small size of the inhabitants would normally make a weak slave source, that is unless you had a buyer set up for slaves who would need to fit in smaller spaces, that is. Set up a slaving operation here. (Self DM 2-3 participants)
1: @Mae Tecono
foc44Zn.jpg

  • Daalang [ip]
Daalang sits on three (3) major shipping and trade lanes making it a key location to do a little pirating and set up a stable pirating operation. (Self DM 2-3 participants)
1: @Mae Tecono

foc44Zn.jpg

  • Nixor [ip]
Nixor, home of the infamous Nixor Spaceport. Due to the stubbornness of the Nixor people, the spaceport is once again falling apart and overly crowded. Because of this, it is open to many possibilities of corruption from setting up a black market fence to re-organizing and actually taking over the entire spaceport. The possibilities are numberous here. (Self DM 2-3 participants)
1: @Mae Tecono

foc44Zn.jpg

  • Nanth'ri [ip]
Nanth'ri is located on two (2) major space trade routes making it a good target for pirating but also boasts a population near a million of humans that are primed for a slaving operation, the choice is yours. (Self DM 2-3 participants)
1: @Mae Tecono
foc44Zn.jpg

  • Ruusan [ip]
Ruusan played host to some major events in the Galaxy past, however serves little to no interest now. The planet is made up of many canyons and caves which, like Teth, play host to many individuals of lesser morals as a staging point and sometimes even small strongholds. This fact, and the fact that it is a step closer to the inner rim then the Syndicate controlled space, makes it a more valuable stop of thieves and pirates trying to hurry and sell their stolen goods. Because of this, you will be setting up a black market fence on this planet. (Self DM 2-3 participants)
1: @Mae Tecono

foc44Zn.jpg

  • Uogo'cor [ip]
Uogo'cor is unimportant in many forms but is awfully close to a major trade route which makes this small rock a home to a large pirate gang that has established a pirating ring on the said trade route. Pretty straight forward here, take over the pirate operation, one way or another. (Self DM 2-3 participants)
1: @Mae Tecono

foc44Zn.jpg

  • Kwenn [ON HOLD]
Home of the Kwenn space station. Not much goes on below on the surface and he who controls the station, controls the planet. We don't see control of the station we just wish to set up a bit of corruption is all. This is another blank slate, find a way to spread our corruption within the station. (Open)
1: @Mae Tecono

foc44Zn.jpg

  • Ubrikkia [ON HOLD]
Ubrikkia is home to another large population, but what we like more then that is the amount of industry and ship wrights in the area. Many produce parts or smaller craft for some of the larger corporations in the galaxy, this is a perfect opportunity to set up an intimidation, piracy, or protection, operation. (Open)

I really don’t understand why you, Where and others in this Zann/Pyke circle can’t understand that anything taking place in a faction’s territory needs to be *open*. There is *no* self DM on ISC planets. This is the second pack I’m having to comment on where you guys are discreetly trying to mess with ISC without giving me any heads up/opening the threads.

Any opposing actions you take against faction owned planets needs to allow for that faction to intervene.

See Sreeya's comments above for the general problems with this pack. But I have a couple specific issues too

These two planetary missions completely ignore the fact that both Kwenn and Ubrikkia are under the control of the Mandalorians, who are currently going through a massive crusade and rearmament - they're not going to leave either of these places unguarded but you are proposing, what, precisely?

That you can subvert the control of the station without actually engaging with the faction that controls it over Kwenn? Or actively steal from the shipwrights and factories literally helping the Mandalorians build a navy without any consideration for their defences?

If you don't want to agitate the ISC as you say in the beginning - maybe don't try and in all-but-name invade a founding member of the ISC?

To say nothing of attempts to subvert control of planets owned by another faction without acknowledging their defences or giving even the briefest acknowledgement OOC or IC that it would need to be Open to a defence, Mandell and Bothawui are also incredibly close-minded to outsiders that these missions literally make no sense.

Bothans are very focused on themselves and their own people - it took several IC years for them to give limited access to their famous ships to the ISC Navy even after years of membership and the ISC saving them from a literal zombie apocalypse. There is no way that the Pykes or any of the Syndicates would be able to get any level of cooperation from them

Bribery? They're borderline racists against non-bothans, currently rolling in ISC credits and your syndicate's stock is low.
Protection? Their defence fleet is bigger than your entire fleet.
Kidnapping? The ISC rangers would be called alongside the Bothan spy network and you have War.
Threats? If they think they're credible, the ISC armed forces are called in. If they don't then you get laughed off.

As a story mod, I recommend you remove all planets from this pack that are owned by another faction and focus on those neutral/indie planets within this pack

If you still want to focus on taking influence and control from factions, do it like every other faction and either reach out and agree a story with that faction or use open threads so they can oppose you trying to take what they have already earned

Ummm wow, first of all this is a mission pack, it has not even got to thread creation where "open" or "ask" is an issue....

2ndly, like its said in the creation, none of this is to take control of any planet nor space stations... So there is no need for PvP nor the involvement of other factions....

3rdly, if you read the description, it says that these are only ideas and are completely dependent on those in the individual threads....

4thly, how the heck can anything covertly happen, when you have to announce every step you take? I mean you say its their nature to hate the other syndicates, but is it in their nature to be like "hey Bill, umm your ISC right? Well just want you to know we are going to be stealing some crap on this planet and at this time"..... I understand if we are taking the planet or doing some major undertaking that has major impact on lore or faction controlled territory.... But we are not.... We are doing small operations....

I put all the planet and ideas for each, together, on Intel I gained from Wookieepedia... And they are the closest to Syndicate space....

You give the faction leaders heads up OOC not IC. Sometimes the FLs may decide to interject and sometimes they may not. But it’s a courtesy ooc to let them know. It’s called collaboration. Doesn’t matter if it’s pvp or not. Plenty of diplomacy and influence threads occur without any pvp and they have to be open.

Operate by the rules with the site just like everyone else.

Commenting on a mission pack before it gets to threads being started is probably the best thing to do - rather than waiting until after anything has started to point out the issues with it all when players have already started replying and potentially undoing their hard work

One of the concerns being that these missions are all labelled as Self DM, which is suggesting that the opposition would be Self DM'd as opposed to open to player opposition - if each of these threads would be open that should probably be signposted rather than left for the posters to decide

To the second and third points - If this will not allow Syndicates access to the resources and production of these planets, which is what their owning factions gain, then what will the Syndicates gain from this? Influence is a very vague term and I would like to see you give a more information as to what that would actually look like/work after the fact

  • What would the syndicates get from these planets in terms of resources?
    • Credits?
    • Ships?
    • Materials?
    • People?
    • Intelligence on the faction?
  • Would the neutral planets be considered "syndicate" planets on the atlas?

Fourthly - Covert missions against other factions are also handled with open threads or collaboration - see Sreeya's post above - the idea is that to keep them covert you build up what you need to spring the surprise without ever actively barring anyone from stopping you.

If you wanted to, say, plant a bomb in a government building you could do an open thread on that planet where the players gather the knowledge on where to place the bomb and another open thread to actually place it. The opposing faction then has had two chances to spot what you're doing and send people in to attempt to stop you - if they can't stop you? If they don't spot it? Plan goes ahead.

But if you set up surprises and thefts within ask and self DM threads, the other players never actually get a chance to try and stop you from taking their stuff and that's not fair on them

Lastly, wookeepedia is a great place to start for looking at these planets but you have to recognize site canon and players' actions as well - which is when you would reach out to faction leaders to see what they've done to the planets on the atlas that their faction controls, for example

The only DM I know about is Direct Message. And @Sreeya I would let FL's know ooc if there was something to let them know about. I'm not out to break rules. I'm trying to follow them. It's just hard to know what to do when every step we have taken lately is deemed unacceptable...

Also @Nefieslab , I would like your honest opinion about something. I'm not attacking you or anyone when I say this, but you say that it took the bothans years in game to earn trust for the ISC. But when the Syndicates are finally working together, and spend just as long in game years as the Bothan's to build trust with each other and even friendship, that's unacceptable because the Syndicates have apparently always hated each other... Why is it okay to build trust with one scenario IC and not the other?

FLs are to know before mission packs even get posted. If the word ISC is anywhere in your pack, if you’re operating on their world, etc you let me know before you post the pack as a courtesy. No different than what ISC members would have to do if they’re operating anywhere in Pyke/Zann/etc territory UNLESS it’s an invasion or attack in which case the thread can be posted as an open/invasion and the FLs get a heads up as soon as they are.

I believe you may have misinterpreted something I said previously - because no one has ever said that the Syndicates can't work together, me least of all.

What I said in my initial reply to your pack was "There is no way that the Pykes or any of the Syndicates would be able to get any level of cooperation from them" - the "them" in this instance being the Bothans. Not each other.

It is my honest opinion that the syndicates can work together or against each other dependant on what the syndicate bosses want.

It is my honest opinion that to subvert the level of trust between ISC-Bothans in a single thread by any number of Syndicates is not feasible.

I hope that I've made it clear that these are two separate and largely unconnected points
