    Well with this timeline about to end in this month or the next, you wouldn't really need to. Plus we will be using mostly Disney canon so EU won't matter.

    None of the EU stuff that you read will count towards the continuity of the timeline, since EU has been classified as Legends and discontinued from continuity WITH THAT SAID they likely will follow similar themes in some areas, and there is a ton of great EU material. Some of my "must reads" are: Darth Plagueis, Legacy of the Force Series, Heir to the Empire Trilogy, Republic Commando, Truce at Bakura
