There are a lot of things with the potential to harm other people. If we stopped doing all of these things, we'd all be living like monks. Obviously I agree that it's stupid to drive drunk or high. Celebrities, especially the ones who flaunt this kind of behavior, we don't even know if it's real... So much of their public persona is just marketing, so I don't pay attention to that. All I'm saying is make your own choices, let other people make their own choices without being subject to your judgment, and most importantly, show respect for the dead.

I don't really understand why that makes you jaded, everyone makes their own choices for their own life and everyone (save for a few obvious exceptions) deserves sympathy when their life comes to an end. Even if you think it's their own fault.
