In any case I do definitely like the idea of a infrared seeing species, it would both disadvantage and advantage them in ways however I don't see it possible for a biological species to see infrared and visible light at the same time. I know I'm sort of brainstorming here however another thing...

I think just infrared would be more suitable for the snowstorms on the planet, species evolve to adapt so that's what they must've done. You could also make them possibly write in a special type of ink like as another thing, instead of conventional ink they use like those secret diary style inks...
