Would I need to re-activate this character in some way, or can I just jump straight back into role-playing? Considering it's been a while since I've been on this site, I'm not sure how to proceed.

Lightsaber forms, increasing his skill with Soresu, also maybe learning the basics of Niman. As for Force Powers, perhaps Force Stun or Mind Trick.
