Even though she knew it wasn't necessary, she still went on-call for her patients. She still walked rounds on Paqualis III when she could, was a mother to Silvi, and tried to rest six hours a night, but the last one was simply unrealistic. By the time she finally managed to drag herself into the apartment complex, her eyes were gritty, her mouth felt horribly dry, and she needed a shower, direly.

But coming back here made her shoulders relax in a myriad of ways. For one, she knew her daughter was safe, temporarily in the custody of her father while the race for the vaccine surged ahead. For another, the burden of being Ilana was dropped. And lastly...

Someone was there by the time she arrived.

She could almost smell the caf brewing from the lift; though every now and then she could feel old twinges of anxiety flare to life, they were happening less and less. A soft chime on her comm drew her attention, and the flare of relief cooled at the identity. Yselti Morata, attempting to reconnect... why? Out of perverted curiosity? From whatever the Holonet broadcasted with her face on it? Frowning once, she pocketed the device, then stepped in, immediately shucking her coat, her practical shoes, pulling her hair free from the low ponytail she kept it in.

She never before considered herself a domestic sort of person, but... the view was nice.

Blinking sleepily once, she wandered closer to the percolating brew and sighed once, rummaging for a mug.

"This may be a question out of the blue, but... tell me more about your family and life on Thustra, I'm curious. Oh, and I'm home." Amber eyes tracked over, deep rings of fatigue beneath her gaze. She could feel the tiredness all the way down to her bones, but for the sake of caf she could keep a little more alert. She managed a thin, exhausted smile to him, but it soon followed a yawn.

"Sevrin?"

Sevrin was surprised to find himself in this situation. Normally he kept his distance from others, but he found himself coming up with excuses to visit or find himself in the same vicinity as Amariel. He often chided himself for his own behavior, but she also made herself accessible and conveniently had clearer schedules when he was around. Both of them still had that sliver of ego where they still didn’t quite admit the steps they took to see one another.

He had been spending an evening with Amariel when she had been called away to the clinic. Despite his attempts at coming along, she was firm about handling it and left. The Sephi was left to his own devices and chose to spend that time meditating. He had been lacking in the clothing department when she left, but he was back to being in some loose fitting clothes when she returned. The Sephi was still prim and proper about being undressed around others.

Silver eyes blinked open when she returned, the caf waiting for her. He rose from where he had been meditating, eyebrows raising at her question. It wasn’t often that he was caught off guard, but the surprise on his face was unmistakable.

Sevrin walked over to close the distance between them, gazing down at her, “Nothing special,” He said quietly, “Well off growing up, as you know, but I haven’t visited in a long time,” The Sephi leaned in to steal a kiss from her before drawing back, “You appear exhausted. Perhaps you should rest and I can return later?”

Thustra was a topic he was attempting to dodge as gracefully as possible while hoping she wouldn’t notice.

He was evading. Normally, when someone ducked a question, especially a lover, she would have simply allowed it to slide, content to keep things easy on the surface, simple. But things weren't simple between them. He had seen her at her worst. Met her family in all its' twisted ways, and even fought with her. Things weren't that simple anymore than just desire; she couldn't put her feelings into words yet, but just seeing him there was a relief.

When he closed the distance, she leaned against him a moment, then wrapped an arm around his waist, blinking at him.
"No. I don't get much time off. And you can't avoid questions forever." Standing up on her toes, she pressed a kiss to his jaw, about the highest she could reach without heels. "I'll be fine with some caf. Stay. I need to stay awake anyways."

Her tone brooked no argument, but she softened it with a faint grin.
"Doctor's orders."

Sevrin blinked a few times when she outright called him out for dodging questions. Normally he had a bit more grace in dancing around topics, but he came up short when it came to her. To top it off, she tugged him close, casually blocking off any escape attempts. However, even his features softened at the doctors orders comment. It was a casual throwback closer to when they had first met. Even before she had become Amariel again.

Instead of keeping their height difference, he stepped backwards till he took a seat, casually pulling her into his lap. Though still proper and respectful, Sevrin had gotten far bolder when it came to interactions with her. One of his hands rested gently against her thigh, though his thoughts lingered back on her original request.

“It is a life I turned away from years ago,” Sevrin said with an exhale, “My father…” He trailed off for a moment, his normally stoic face scrunching slightly into a grimace, “He is the king of Thustra,” The words were said with more distaste than Sevrin had expressed ever before.

She never would say it to his face, but seeing him genuinely flummoxed at her words was always a bit of a sweet feeling. The stoic man had very little that seemed to faze him; she couldn't repress the urge to shake that up a little bit. But it was also a shortened fuse; she was losing patience with the topic. Though they were lovers... she wasn't sure what the boundary was when it came to forbidden topics.

But he's been in your head... Even faced your Darker self.

The voice whispered in the back of her mind, not the sibilant hiss of Ilana, but the calm, practical Doctor. But a low hum of pleasure slipped past her lips when he didn't move back, but took her with him to settle on the closest surface to sit on. She had no qualms with settling back into his lap, legs on either side of his hips.

With his face like that, she couldn't resist raising her cybernetic hand to lightly trace a corner of his lips, looking into silvery eyes. A few answers clicked into place, and she stilled, taking in his features. His father was a king. So what did that make him... a Prince? Did she sit in the lap of royalty?

Instead of feeling awe, or curiosity... she felt sympathy. Even through their bond, she could sense how that information was more than distasteful.

"Joining the Jedi was your way of escaping," she murmured, pressing a kiss against his lips before pulling back slightly, brushing a dark lock of hair away from his face. "Ever thought of going back, or is there anything you miss about Thustra?" Perhaps she was pushing her luck, but seeing him this unsettled made her feel the same. She could wait for his answer... leaning forward, she rested her head against his shoulder, looking up with calm amber eyes.

Sevrin exhaled the breath he didn’t even realize he had been holding. He had expected a strong reaction - one of shock, anger or anything else in between. However, Amariel surprised him with a tone of understanding. The Sephi stared at her with surprise clearly etched across the silvers. The look on his face betrayed that she guessed correctly, and he was spared from having to explain when she leaned in for a kiss.

His arms fastened even tighter around her almost instinctively, a gesture that silently surprised him. For someone as normally closed off as Sevrin was, having another person pinpoint his thoughts so easily was both wonderful and terrifying. He felt his heartbeats quicken, though he hoped she wouldn’t notice.

“I haven’t thought of returning,” Sevrin admitted quietly, “My father...he cannot be reasoned with. He still clings to my old titles and refuses to see that I have abandoned that life,” He glanced over at the amber eyes, staring in silence for a few moments.

“But Thustra is a part of me whether I like it or not,” He reached over to grasp her hand in his, entwining their fingers. He was used to that familiar cool now and had even grown to like it, “And I want to share it with you.”

He was not normally someone who touched very often, or embraced. She normally had to initiate, but feeling his arms tighten around her made her blink once in surprise. She watched his eyes widen, and guessed she was closer to the mark than he expected. She had to give a wry grin at that.

So she was right. Somehow, that surprised her as well. But she could understand it. When it came to certain privileges, it wasn't a matter of enjoying luxury or not, it was survival. She escaped through medicine, he through... the Jedi. Still, at his words her lips twitched, and her fingers twined easily with his, amber eyes glimmering.
"Doesn't that sound familiar," she drawled. "My own mother commed me today, demanding answers."

But... he wanted to share Thustra with her? She lifted his palm up casually, pressing a light kiss to it.
"Are you sure, though?" She murmured against his skin, then lowering their joined hands. She had never been one for meeting the parents; meeting Corran's mother had been something of a coincidence. But... she was curious what he left behind. The pieces of his life that he hid away from the rest of the galaxy.

Sleep was still clinging stubbornly to her mind, and she attempted to suppress a yawn, grimacing once.
"I need caf first, though. And a shower. Want to join me, and we can discuss while we wander?" She managed another sleepy grin, this one more relaxed, more open. Around him, it was easier to relax... easier to feel.

Sevrin’s thoughts were slightly distracted when she spoke, the subtle nuances of his face betraying the memories of Thustra made him uneasy. He glanced over when he felt her soft lips against his palm, the subtle gesture surprisingly tender. He couldn’t help but blink at her curiously, wondering exactly why something so simple managed to send warmth streaking through his body like vines spiraling into every extremity.

He gently moved to help her stand, putting her back on her feet. The caf was ready and he floated a cup over for her to grab from the air. When she outright asked about joining her in the shower, Sevrin blinked a few times. The slight flush to his face was unmistakable though he desperately attempted to quell it. His ears also did him no favors, getting a tinge of color and actually twitching slightly.

“Will I….fit in your shower?” He asked quietly. His height wasn’t conducive to most humanoid showers. As soon as he asked the question he began to internally question himself.....what if she only meant to join her for a cup of caf?

Having spent time around Sevrin, even without empathy Amariel would have liked to think she could read the man. Subtle gestures, filtering past the usual stoic visage, gave her pause. Maybe it was seeing Thustra itself, or the thought of seeing his Father, but she didn't say anything more. When he moved, she shifted with him, humming once in appreciation as a warm cup of caf floated her way. "I can begin to see the benefits of being Force-sensitive," she murmured, glancing up at him when he spoke again.

There were few things that clued in to how he felt, but his ears were the largest indication. Watching the light flush sharpen the color of silver eyes, curiosity turned to relief.

She took another sip, giving him a thoughtful look over the rim.
"I think it will. It claims to fit Wookie-size." Amber eyes glinted, even with the seriousness of her expression. Part of her was tempted to let him sit in his own thoughts, but one thing she picked up, he got into his own head. Sometimes more than he got out of it. She liked rattling him out of it every once in a while, it did him some good.

She lightly brushed her hand against his arm, tilting her head slightly.
"If it makes you uncomfortable though, that's perfectly fine. I'd just... hate to miss any spare time with you." Now it was her turn to flush slightly, but her gaze held, taking another slow drink of caf.

Sevrin’s brows both raised slightly at her mention of the shower being wookiee sized. He didn’t dwell too much on it, his face and ears already embarrassingly betraying him enough. The Sephi managed a smile, “Not uncomfortable,” He explained quietly as he motioned for her to lead the way, “Just….new…”

Once they were in the refresher, he paused for a moment to stand beside her in front of the mirror there. He couldn’t help but grin at how the top of his head was past what reflected in the mirror. He moved to stand behind her, gently undoing her top.

“I savor every moment with you,” He said quietly as he slid her top along her shoulders and down. He leaned in to kiss along the side of her neck, tracing his lips against her now bare shoulder as he continued to work on her clothing, “And thoughts of you certainly distract me far more than they should when I’m on missions,” He murmured against her skin.

New? She glanced up into his features with a slightly puzzled expression, but quickly drained the rest of her caf, then floating the mug into the sink. She hated dishes cluttering up open spaces; she would return for more caf though.

When he came back behind her, she leaned against him and slid her fingers against his cheek and threading lightly through his hair. Shutting her eyes against the warm touch of his hands and lips against the sensitive skin of her throat, she paused when he mentioned she distracted him. Eyes lazily half-opened as she regarded him in the mirror, releasing him to lightly thump the back of her hand to his chest.

"Are you saying it's my fault you keep getting injured?" she queried, one white brow raised. However, she didn't seem insulted; a glint of amusement flared in amber eyes and she turned slowly, hands settling on his hips. She began to slide them under the hem of his shirt, feeling the muscles beneath, the tautness of scars as she began to tug on his own clothing. "It's a good thing I'm a doctor, then," came her voice in a quiet huff, giving an extra tug on the hem of his shirt.

Was he trying to distract her again? She turned away again, running her hands from his hips down slowly. The mental fatigue was beginning to fade off. However, his previous words made her lips pull into a faint, warm smile.
"You're a constant part of my thoughts as well. I miss you when you're gone." The last part was spoken softly, a deep flush burning into her cheeks and throat.

“Tch, I get injured because I’m constantly neck deep in Sith territory,” Sevrin said with a grin, unable to keep a bit of cockiness from creeping into his tone as he reached back and switched the shower on. Though he kept the more confidential details about his role as a Shadow to himself, Amariel knew he was one of the frontline and more aggressive Jedi when it came to engaging Sith. He didn’t spend too much time in the temples, and his time was usually split between training padawans or apparently leading revolutions.

Sevrin glanced down as she began to undress him, still not quite used to the gesture. His body stiffened slightly, but he relaxed after he grew comfortable against that familiar cool touch. The Sephi glanced into the ambers, “You being a doctor certainly helps,” He remarked, a smile touching at the corner of his lips.

His hands continued to work against her clothing, her words coming right as their attire had gathered by their feet. Sevrin curled a finger under her chin to lift it so she looked at him again, “I always find you again, don’t I?” He asked quietly before he leaned in to tenderly capture her lips.

He broke away only to guide her by the hand and into the shower, surprised at his own boldness. To his amazement, he actually did fit in it without having to hunch and curl up or risk flooding the entire refresher.

She looked up at him wordlessly, not immediately answering as his lips met hers. She closed her eyes briefly, the exhaustion beginning to draw back from her mind. It was true, he did. But every now and then there was a sliver of doubt, a feeling that this wouldn't last. How long until you don't find me anymore? she wanted to ask, but gently closed the door on that thought before it could surface. "You do," she replied simply, opening her eyes to allow him to pull her into the shower.

Her lips twitched as he seemed astonished.
"I might have changed a few things," came her dry reply, using her fingers to use the Force, and lightly flick the warming water at him. "I seem to remember a stubborn someone grumbling about Wookie-sized beds." She had to be careful when showering; long hair was a pain to rinse through, and after years of living out of a ship and on limited water supplies, she learned how to be thrifty.

Still... she could enjoy luxury for a little while longer. Without waiting for his response, she stepped forward, and wrapped her arms about his waist, closing her eyes for a moment. She wasn't quite ready for deep talks yet, and his blithe mentioning of her being a doctor sent chills down her spine. She knew it was probably inevitable, but the thought of facing a day of his being harmed beyond her expertise cut deep, with a sinking weight in her chest.

"Let's not take too long in hot water,"
she managed after a beat, then gave a worn smile. "It isn't good for my hair."

Sevrin had to grin at the memory of the wookiee bed. She had been someone else back then and he was dead against undressing around others. He was distracted from his thoughts at the flick of the water, eyes widening to give her a mock look of disapproval that was normally reserved for his padawans. He couldn’t put the facade on much longer, leaning forth to casually scoop her up by the legs and gently press her back against the wall behind her.

“Sorry, Doctor Morata,” Sevrin said as he gazed at her, “We might be here for a while.”

---

It wasn’t often that the Sephi was visibly uneasy. However, the next morning he was pacing around and idly fiddling with his ponytail. He was dressed in his Jedi robes, but he knew he would need to change upon arrival at Thustra. He thought about simply attempting to wear a disguise, but he doubted that would work when he was the crown prince.

Sevrin decided to distract himself by going to find Amariel, checking to see if she was prepared to leave. He almost considered asking if she truly wanted to go, but he knew the only hesitation came from him. The Sephi stood near her, the hints of anxiety clear beneath the normally stoic visage.

“My father isn’t...the kindest..” He told Amariel for probably the 50th time now. He despised the thought of anyone disrespecting her, and he knew he would stand up to the King himself if it came to that. The man was aloof and detached like most Sephi, but it was especially so because of his position.

“And...the media will probably report on this…”
The galaxy knew of her by this point, and there was going to be lots of speculation with her on Thustra with the crown prince. Even with the best disguises, something was bound to be leaked.

Even without empathic abilities, she could sense the thrums of anxiety in the Force, compounded further through the bond. This was nothing like when they both had to confront Yselti Morata; though the woman was cold, remote, and elitist, she was just a mere planetary politician full of her own importance. Amariel had accepted long ago that she would never measure to her mother's exacting standards.

Still, with his hovering, she had to suppress the urge to sigh. When the idea was brought up to meet his father, he'd balked. And though she enjoyed provoking him, seeing reactions, this reaction also pulsed waves of anxiety in her chest. She glanced over at him patiently, setting down the dress she was about to pack.

She stepped up towards him, and picked up his hands. Once, not too long ago, she was at the mercy of those hands. She squeezed them briefly, steadily regarding him with an amber-eyed stare.
"Are you that concerned for my safety?" she spoke up at him, tilting her head slightly. There were many things she could say, many things she could do, but forcing him to do something that would bring him this much anxiety... perhaps even fear... wouldn't be one of them.

"Sevrin..." she sighed, then released one of his hands. "I want to know about you. All of you. But if this makes you feel," she brought his hand up to his chest, "anxious enough that it gives me anxiety... we don't have to go." She knew she could push, and he would go. But if he was this uneasy, then there was a good reason. A faint kick of a smile touched her lips. "You know, if my mother knew you were royalty, she would have flung me at you. But your father might not approve of me... wouldn't that be quite the thing to bring home?" Her eyes glinted, as her other palm flattened over his chest, the smile fading once more.

"The choice is yours, I won't force you."

Sevrin glanced down when she grasped his hands, savoring that familiar cool.

You usually don’t concern yourself with your safety, so I figure I ought to,” He couldn’t help the amused glint in his eye. A rare grin managed to find his lips. Her next words bothered him more than she would know. He was known to be withdrawn and keep his emotions in check, but he clearly let enough of them seep out to where they were impacting her. Curiously, it hadn’t been through empathy either. She could sense the discomfort just from his words or little nuances in how he carried himself. Was he truly such an open book?

Sevrin’s brows rose as she mentioned the sentiments about her mother, “You are far more famous than I’ll ever be, you know,” Her name and face was splashed all across the galaxy. And of course, many times it was connected with ISC and that pointy eared politician that many swore looked slightly similar to him. Sevrin didn’t see the comparison at all but all his padawans that were smitten by that man were convinced they had the same eyes.

“We’re going,” The Sephi said declaratively, leaning in to kiss her.

---

The journey had been long, but he always enjoyed the extra time with Amariel. They had just touched down in a spaceport on Thustra, and already he felt a sense of nostalgia. The planet was full of lush forests, plains and mountains. The ports and buildings had tall columns and structures built extremely high.

As they stepped off the ramp, Amariel would notice right away how tall the locals were. Sevrin was considered roughly average with many Sephi passing by that pushed 7 ft or more. However, none had his eyes. The Sephi wore luxurious and ornate clothing, their hair woven into intricate patterns and shapes to display socioeconomic status.

Sevrin was dressed in more standard clothing, adorned in a jacket, trousers and a button down underneath it. His hair was tied in a simple ponytail. He had no desire to draw attention to himself so he actually popped on sunglasses. He hadn’t been back home for years so he presumed he could get by without drawing immediate attention.

“You will be pleased to know,” Sevrin began as he motioned for her to walk with him, “That there are plenty of spicy food restaurants along the way that will put even your palate to the test,” He said with a smug grin.

Very rarely did the Arkanian Offshoot see Sevrin dressed in anything but Jedi robes. Walking with him in step, her lips quirked in a grin as he put on sunglasses, perking a white brow. It was hardly subtle, but perhaps he hoped to be spared some notoriety first. But... she was truly in the land of the giants now. Though she was of average galactic height, there were several Sephi that seemed to tower visibly over her and even, to a degree, Sevrin himself.

She couldn't help but stare.

She had dressed in usual modesty; in comparison to several of those in elaborate dress, she was in a black kimono-style dress that glinted in the light as she moved, covered over by a simple dark jacket. Narrow glasses perched on her nose, and long white hair was kept pulled back from her features. Still, his words made her glance over with a faint grin, one white brow perked in curiosity.

"Don't challenge me, or I'll take you up on your offer," she replied, humor lacing through her words as she kept in step with him. She knew there were likely prying eyes on her every move, and her gaze drifted for a moment to his hand, considering taking it. But with as many rumors flying around with her involvement with others, it seemed unwise. He was someone who didn't enjoy the limelight; she wouldn't pull him into that unless he initiated it.

In lieu of a physical touch, she opened the line in the Bond between them, smiling slightly as she allowed him to feel as she did, and see through her eyes.
"Any favorite places you'd recommend?" she murmured, giving him another gentle smile as she kept up with his long-legged pace.

Sevrin glanced over and didn’t miss Amariel looking at his hand. He had almost considered taking hers, but she withdrew. While it didn’t reflect on his face, a pang of disappointment coursed through him. As a Shadow he had been trained to be observant and especially keen about fine details. He didn’t miss her glance around herself before opting to keep her distance. Unfortunately, the Sephi misread her intentions entirely and concluded that she simply did not wish to be affiliated with him in public.

The Sephi often played the role of a Jedi guard for missions, and his demeanor shifted to such to adjust. He walked alongside her, but the dynamic was very much celebrity and her bodyguard. Regardless of his opinions on the matter, he would respect whatever image she wanted to project. For all the ways he was deliberate about details, Sevrin sometimes missed some very obvious situations.

When Amariel wove into their bond to communicate with him, the slight edge he had eased off significantly. Externally he maintained the same appearance, but he welcomed the connection.

Yes, there is a particular cafe that serves some of our finest delicacies, He explained, I’d love to have you try it.

After a bit of walking, Sevrin led her to this cafe. She would immediately spot what looked like a bunch of live insects behind a display. These insects were subsequently roasted and spiced before being put on sticks to eat. The Sephi kept a completely straight face as he surveyed the spread before them.

“Any of these strike your fancy?” He pointed behind the glass where a bunch of things were crawling and wriggling. He wasn’t lying - this truly was a delicacy in his culture, though something very few still sampled.

At the pang of disappointment, she glanced up at him, and tilted her head as though to speak... then lowered her gaze, keeping pace with him. Perhaps he was disappointed because of how she dressed before meeting his father? He had been looking at her, after all... Perhaps she should have changed on the flight there.

The thought was interrupted when amber eyes took in the bin full of wriggling... insects.

She stared blankly at the creatures, before staring up at him in visible confusion. He seemed totally nonchalant; even through their Bond, even with her abilities, she couldn't sense much behind the stoic features. Perhaps... he enjoyed this sort of snack? She blinked again, visually processing the display before them in a strange mix of curiosity, mild revulsion, and...

Her hand lightly rested on his wrist, still staring at the crawling creatures, swallowing once.
"I'll... trust your judgment," she muttered. "When in Thustra, do as the Sephi do?" He gaze flicked up at his briefly, before back down. "I'll take... that one." She just hoped it wasn't as crunchy as it looked; the thought turned her stomach, but she could be diplomatic about it. It had to be important to him, after all, he led her here.

Sevrin felt her hand against his wrist, and he leaned into the touch. He didn’t have the empathy skills that she had, but he could tell something had bothered her. His eyes gave it away, the silvers narrowing the slightest bit before they were distracted with the bugs. The Sephi kept a neutral face as he watched Amariel take a bug sample. The Sephi cook on the other side quickly roasted it, seasoned it and handed it to her.

Sevrin watched in silence as Amariel tried it. The taste was surprisingly flavorful, though it was particularly crunchy. He watched with mild amusement, his face surprisingly blank as she finished up. Notably he didn’t try one for himself. It wasn’t till she was done that a smirk spanned across his face.

“I’m impressed,” He said as the smirk grew into a soft chuckle, “I didn’t think you were going to do it,” Sevrin pointedly avoided getting a bug for himself. Being a very serious and stoic man by nature meant that it was difficult to predict when he was pulling a prank.

“Let me make it up to you for pulling that,” He said with a grin as he led her away from the cafe. He took her through the district, his hand brushing idly against hers before he abruptly paused. Sevrin cleared his throat, idly fiddling with his hair for a moment.

“Amariel…” He fidgeted for a moment, a gesture that was oddly out of place for the self assured Sephi, “Are you...afraid to be seen with me?”
