Much of the Expanded Universe Canon has been reconnected by Disney, basically meaning it isn't canon anymore, which the new timeline will also recognize. Canon covers the books/comics/whatever that have been released during or after 2014, the movies, the animated clonewars tv series, and the current animated series rebels. So unfortunately it won't do much for research, but they are still fun to read
Sounds intriguing, I just went ahead and read the blurb about it on wookiepedia without looking at the plot summary. Ill have to look into getting it. Anything for before the prequels as well?
That's a good question, and I'm not sure. Knowing Disney though, and the fact that they retconned all of it in the first place likely means that the legends universe won't continue, and everything new will belong in the New Canon Universe ran by Disney.
Since it is a game that is still making its creators money it won't end because of the canon retcon. Basically SWTOR is considered "legends" like the rest of the now non-canon EU. That means that no canon moving forward is bound by it or its story.
Of course that doesn't mean that authors won't pull from the already established EU to continue making stories, for example Zeltrons are considered canon in the new canon because the author pulled them from the expanded universe
An EU canon species originally created back in the 80's in a starwars comic, and were made official canon again due to a padawan being one in "The New Dawn". Both of my new timeline characters will be Zeltrons
