an alternate choice of mine was a phrik crafted three-section staff also known as a sanjiegun and possibly having it have a shoto blade at either end or just having it lack any lightsaber blade all together.

that's why they would be dual phase. unlike a normal blade that is long and then longer the shoto would be short and then normal length. or have them interchangeable like a sword pair.

maybe a better way of putting it is they are two normal lightsabers that are dual phase and their presets are just shorter rather than longer as well as standard lightsaber length.

I personally, only ever go with a Single blade, and a back up. The movements of anything else get harder and harder to write the more you add. The harder it is to write, the more chance your character is going to die.
