oh. :( thanks... I put it up, I guess they just haven't gotten around. My bad- I'm fairly new so I'm just getting the swing of things.

Its alright if you need help with things you can ask one of the admin they are pretty cool and very helpful

Just a thought, couldn't he technically role play outside of the republic forces prior to this acceptance? Isn't what is pending his role in the republic? I'm just thinking in the sense of getting people live and role-playing, not necessarily as far as forum policy as I'm new myself.

If you made a character for a faction in his case Republic than it does require their approve to use as the character needs to have a acceptable background and so if anything happens the republic faction can say yes he is with us since he is on the list. It is sadly forum policy so long as he has the character set up for the republic faction

It's okay. I guess I'll wait. That thread isn't going anywhere. In the meantime, do you guys know the site skype channel? I'd really like to get involved with the site.

If you wish to be a part of the Republic skype chat, than talk with @Aluminum Falcon or another member of the republic I think @Tank can also help you can look up the republic members on the republic forum and ask one of them for more help if it is needed.

Maybe, I am just curious as to how admin would weigh in. I see a slim likelihood that a new character would carry that much weight in the grand scheme of the faction. It just strikes me as nitpicky on policy in a way that obstructs role-play and fun. I just don't know if that was the intent.

Well a new character or any person really if they wanted to can change the entire site if they really want to like. My jedi knight if he wanted to can go do a open RP in sith territory and bomb a temple or whatever causing lots of damage and so on. Every character can make great changes and stories that make planets change because of what happens.

To clarify my previous post, I'm not saying he should be able to take a position as a Captain on a battleship for the Republic. Or that his posts should directly involve his role as a member of the Republic, but his thread didn't seem to do that.

So not really a nitpicky thing more like they want Rpers to be able to be held accountable and work with their factions as closely as possible, trust me when I say a single character can do a lot and shouldn't be seen down on. But I am no admin and really they can give the best answer for it

I mean, a character could do that if they're accepted into the group, too. Being formally accepted doesn't actually change a character's capacity to influence an organization adversely. A nobody could do the same under the guise of the Republic, and IC, smudge reputation.

Now, now. I'm not here to stir the pot. If that is the policy, then I suppose that I could wait it out. However, if it would be okay- I could continue my current roleplay whenever somebody joins and just consider it NOT canonical until I get approved. That does seem like a hefty safe work around.
Also, thank you. I will try to do that for the skype.

If he is has been a captain for years because of being in the military but because he isn't a member of the republic yet he wont be able to say he is or do anything involving his characters past because it hasn't been approved of, it is better that character get approved rather than forget who they are and go like 20 years in the past so they can rp as a child around 12 or so.

But again just talk with a admin for questions about rules since I can only say what they are from what I have read not really give any reasoning behind

And on that, neither am I. This is much more a discussion than it is an argument proper. I just feel that obstructing people to role-play on the formality of approval seems a little unnecessary. From an in character perspective, formal acceptance or even belonging to an organization does not exclude an individual from being grouped politically.

Say a dude from Coruscant, nothing to do with Republic military, bombs a facility on an Imperial world, the Empire can frame that any way they want to achieve a political end. The only thing that might happen is that, OoC, some people feel as though their toes have been stepped on.

Obviously sir, you didn't read my work. I ranked him as a Lieutenant with a few tours of duty. If he's not get approved then I would most likely start over with a new character. I'm not attempting to step on toes here, and I'll yield until my character is approved. However to say that I absolutely cannot roleplay this character out of fun- saying that whatever is in the thread is not canonical, seems a little harsh.

Furthermore, there has to be a place on the site where roleplays that have no bearing on the story or what have you can take place, is there not?
Reign

Well, that's what I'm saying. I'm saying you SHOULD be able to role play, for fun, outside of canon. That's what I mean. I disagree with the notion you can't go active at all.
