It's a bit inappropriate to shoot down his idea like that. Plenty have been successful in the past. If you want to run a company you can. It can focus on military tech and have other aspects too
@Tristyn Actually, I would make a character just for this faction if it gets approved. It's just the kind of thing I like, though. R&D is fun. @Reidly Go for it. If it gets approved, I'll make a character for it.
What I meant is that if the faction only creates tech and doesn't have any RPs related to it, then it isn't very attractive. But if you do R&D threads related to it, then it's cool.
Yeah, I see what you mean. But, R&D is the fun part. I can experiment with new tech, and hey, if everything goes wrong, my character dies in a horrendous way. So either way, I come out on top :3
Ok, so I have some fairly strong feelings about this kind of faction. Essentially, this type of group is very interesting. However, you have an absolutely tiny margin for error. You have to get a very dedicated group of people who are not disposed to combat and are all able to properly navigate the tech board.
And even then; you'll have a lot of downtime where tech needs to be approved. And even then, most of your activity will be completely reliant on other factions buying your stuff.
That's not really true. You can do missions of corporate espionage, defend from pirates, etc. I ran one of these and we had plenty of fun beyond just writing tech. Don't be intimidated just have fun
The way @Reidly phrased this is less of a Czerka and more of a strictly military contracts version of blastech. Czerka wasn't completely focused in tech. Tech was just a tool to get everything else in the faction going, like the espionage.
If the faction itself is going to revolve around tech, and I mean where researching and developing tech is the primary drive, everything I said before stands.
