You don't always need one. You're able to start already trained, or you could use an NPC as a Jedi Master.

I see. However, my character is being started off as just rescued by the Jedi and just starting her life as a Jedi Padawan. Plus, I was kind of hoping the Master would give her a name. Ugh... trying not to mess up on this site again!

To be honest Jade, I think you need to take things more casually. don't restart threads, and don't worry about stuff. Do missions, and see what happens :)
