Saturday is the pre release for the newest set of Magic the Gathering cards. So what you do is you go to this four hour event and you get six booster packs and a promo card and you build a deck and play and there's prizes for the top placers.
They do like two or three events like this on ore release weekend and I'm playing two of them back to back on Saturday. Also because it's pre release you get the cards before they go on sale. It's just a fun thing to do.
So they do that with just about every release? I wish other fandoms did this kind of stuff. I know it's not free or anything but seems like a cool event.
It's 25$ which is really not bad since you could potentially pull a single card worth 25-300$ and they just changed the way they do things we now they're going to release three or four main sets every year. For each of those they will do a pre release and a couple other events. In between these they have like non main sets where they reprint certain older cards that people still want.
Also my profile pic is just random internet art. I've been n thinking about changing it to an MTG character. If I do it will probably be either Lilliana or Sidisi
Also with every main set they release a story that goes along with that set and explains what's happening with these cards and the plane that they are on. The stories are usually pretty good.
There's this card called Black Lotus that was printed in the first couple sets they ever made. Each version of the card is literally worth thousands of dollars. The oldest version is worth up to $30,000 and people will actually pay for it. This card is so rare most players including myself have never seen it in person.
