"Brodie, mind if you give me a moment to explain? It's nothing, just— oh Merlin's beard, stop walking so fast!"

Dont listen, just keep walking stupid. He just used you like a pawn. He's just like everyone else. This is why its better off being alone

However Brodie's body seemed to be acting against his mind's wishes as he stopped immediately in his tracks. He turned ever so slightly to look towards Alistair.

What are you doing? Why cant you turn around and walk away?

His mind was screaming but he just felt frozen

"What do you want?"

Temperate eyes lodged in his disposition. Breathless mandible narrowed in an unadulterated glower. Alistair lingered forward. Eyes brandished to the gaudy floors levitated to rivet at the Slytherin, all as his head poised itself flat in ostensible guilt. With every soothed stride closer to the other boy, his resplendent look ever grew in buried fervor. Lips coaxed in apparent remorse, he answered with earnest regard. "I haven't gotten to thank you yet for what you did back in the library." He paused, jowl pursed with inducement. "And neither have you given me a chance to apologize, nor explain."

As he reached within grasp, he brushed the far shoulder of Brodie winsomely. Now within intimate reticence of the fair Slytherin boy, Alistair inclined toward him scrupulously. Being several inches taller than him, he slanted carefully as to be on par in height. Chilled breath close at hand, Alistair steered him smoothly to the common room, shoulder to shoulder.

"Anyhow, I'm quite sure I promised to show you what I nabbed from the Restricted Section. I mean, you deserve to know."

"I haven't gotten to thank you yet for what you did back in the library."

Brodie took a step backwards like he was almost scared of Alistair, fearful yet Brodie himself did not know why. Perhaps he was scared of Alistair's words and terrified of the way Alistair made him feel.

"And neither have you given me a chance to apologize, nor explain."

He stopped and cocked his head slightly but stayed very still, face still deadpan, watching Alistair's every move, eyes tracing his hand and flinched when Alistair brushed his shoulder.

"Anyhow, I'm quite sure I promised to show you what I nabbed from the Restricted Section. I mean, you deserve to know."

He looked at Alistair curiously, so that was his pay off? Heh, maybe it would help for his next class?

"What is it?" he asked, hints of curiosity creaking through his voice.

"What do you think?"

A genuine question. Forthright, undisguised. Almost as inviting as the gentle quiver of his attentive stare, which reamed close with notable curiosity of his own. The pair of words sailed off his tongue, bearing soft resonance and beckoned intrigue. Lithe fingers slipped off from the rim of the other boy's shoulder, gliding down to Alistair's side, where the sumptuous book laid within the anchor of his embrace. His hand shuddered to where the clotted tome remained, tugging at it before drawing it from his enfolded grip. Unveiling it like a prized badge, a tender smile emerged through his cavity.

"Moste Potente Potions. Home to some of the most advanced potions in the wizarding world."

The palm of his hand, delicate and pale, caressed the spine of the book.

"I couldn't have done it without you, Brodie."

"Hmmm, I don't know, is it a pony??" Brodie replied sarcastically as he gave Alistair a look of complete and utter annoyance as he stared down the side of the book, trying to figure out what secrets were contained within the book and he gave a look of complete and utter fascination at the secrets contained within. Unfortunately this would be useless for his use as Brodie knew that if he could barely do potions in his class he knew that he couldn't do the advanced potions for a while.

"Hmmm.... fat lot of use it is for me. I can barely do potions in my own class" Brodie laughed slightly awkwardly as he stared back up at Alistair as he walked alongside him, looking up at the boy that almost seemed... too perfect... But Brodie wouldn't complain. He just walked alongside Alistair and blushed profusely, going bright red in seconds as he looked down at the floor.

"Don't mention it.... so tell me.... why did you want the book in the first place.. apart from being particularly amazing at potions..."
