DESCRIPTION​

The 2V9 starfighter is an antique model of combat spacecraft which was once manufactured by NotronSpec Astroneering, a Coruscanti corporation which existed some centuries prior to the Clone Wars. The company was short-lived, thanks in large part to the cost of manufacturing its ships on Coruscant, but before it went under it did manage to produce a few notable designs, the 2V9 included.

The 2V9 is what some would call an "uncomplicated" design, seemingly drawn up by a being with nothing to work with but a ruler and a fairly poor understanding of aerodynamics. It consists of a boxy fuselage, with engines, weapons and other systems located in external pods. The ship is armed with 3 light laser cannons slung under the fuselage, and is capable of reaching speeds up to 100 MGLT, with decent maneuverability. Though it possesses no shields and lacks an integrated life support system, requiring the pilot to wear an environmental suit, it does possess a class 2 hyperdrive and a fully functional navicomputer, luxuries at the time the 2V9 was built. Notably, the wings fold vertically for storage when the ship is landed, making the type well suited to shipboard operations.

2V9s are essentially extinct in the wild. Though a capable design, the type had all but disappeared from service in the decades leading up to the Clone Wars, and can almost exclusively be found in the hands of collectors in the present day, or in the lower strata of certain junk planets.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. 2V9s are starfighters, if very old ones, and are subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.
