Nintendo finally released all this information to us at its press conference last night.

The price of the new handheld will be 25,000 yen, or roughly 300 USD, with the release date in Japan being February 26th, with a western release sometime in March.

A load of new features has been confirmed for the system as well. This such as Augmented reality chips built in, as well as SD card support with it shipping with a 2 gb sd card. Also, you will be able to purchase and download Gameboy and Gameboy advanced games to your 3DS.

A final cool note, that is only available in Japan as far as I can tell, is streaming 3D television to your 3DS. Which is freaking cool if you ask me.

Thoughts on this? Who is all getting it?

Too much money for a handheld system, even if it is 3D. I may get one when the price drops.

300$ for a handheld system? Uh, no thanks. I hardly even play my first gen DS or my PSP 2000 anymore anyway.

Its just way too much for a handheld system.

It is the most powerful handheld system to date: has the potential to hold the graphic power of the PS2, from what I've read. That being said, won't buy at its initial price.

Personally I will probably wait until the 3DS lite comes out a year later for 100 cheaper or something. By then the game selection will be greater than too.

Nintendo always was the best in handhelds, IMO.

I'll buy at initial price if only it seems like it's worth the money. Most likely, I'll convince my parents to get me one as a b-day present. Nintendo has really good ideas, but I'm hesitant due to the large price tag.

On a semi-unrelated note, I wonder if this thing is made of Nintendium. :p
