DESCRIPTION​

The 9000Z1 landspeeder is a passenger repulsorcraft manufactured by Ubrikkian Industries. The design was the successor to the company's unsuccessful 9000 model, which was aimed at Ugor customers, whose jelly-like anatomy allowed them to ooze up into the craft from a ventral hatch, inaccessible to most other species. Looking to recoup their losses, Ubrikkian reused the body shell of the 9000 to create the 9000Z1, adding a conventional side hatch and seating for humanoids inside. This gave the design a broader appeal, and the 9000Z1 proved to be quite popular, easily recouping the development costs of both craft and going on to be a best-seller in many parts of the Galaxy.

The 9000Z1 is a pod-shaped design, roughly spherical with 4 evenly spaced circular viewports for visibility. The design's interior incorporates a horseshoe-shaped seating arrangement which can accommodate 5 beings, plus a detached driver's seat which is situated in the middle of the craft and faces one viewport. This gives the driver excellent visibility, as well as positioning them at the vehicle's center of gravity. Though the 9000Z1 can only reach a top speed of 160 kph, it is among the most maneuverable landspeeders on the market, able to turn literally on its axis thanks to specialized maneuvering jets around its base. It is also exceptionally good on rough terrain, boasting a maximum ground clearance of 3 meters. The 9000Z1 can carry up to 50 kilograms of cargo, and has consumables sufficient for 4 days of operation. The type is also extraordinarily durable thanks to its spherical hull, and its mechanical systems are considered exceptionally reliable and easy to maintain.

The 9000Z1 is among Ubrikkian's oldest designs still in continuous production, various attempts to replace it having met with little success. They type holds its resale value remarkably well, and is still in common use on many worlds.
