A Breed Apart (Training of Timothy Enfield)

[Niner]

Zaneak grinned under his helmet. Good Timothy was getting angry, anger gave him strength. Zaneak simply rolled his blade over Timothy's on the first attack, and on the second he jammed Timothy's blade into the cross guard on his own katana and twisted the blade sharply to the right. "Come on Private, you will have to do better then that. I am an old man. A young buck like you should be able to take me down easy. In fact I bet I am a better shot then you. I bet you can't hit the broad side of a building from 10 meters with that sniper rifle of yours."

Timothy grinned under his helmet...the Major was using a rather pathetic tatic to anger him. But he didn't care, and fueled himself with those statements. Grinding his teeth, he swiftly stepped to the side to side, nullifying the cross and then slashing downwardly toward's the Major's legs. If he jumped, he would follow it up with a keep-up spin kick to the chest.

 

[Niner]

Zaneak swiped Timothy's blade aside but let him go through with the kick. Zaneak leaned forward into the kick slightly and braced himself, he didn't move at all when the kick landed. It was like Timothy was kicking a solid brick wall. "Water flows constantly, it always finds a way around rocks and even mountains, but give it enough time it will wear down even the largest mountain. You are the water Timothy and I am the rock. Go with the flow and try to wear me down."

Using his foot as a base, Timothy followed the Major's advice, and taking motion, he span on the Major's chest to a spin kick on the head.

 

[Niner]

Zaneak put his hand up infront of Timothy's foot, meaning to grab it. "Wrong, you do have superior speed then me, use it."

 

[DhehKappa]

Timothy landed the foot that once rested on the Major's chest on the ground, and now he pulled his other out of the Major's grip. All of his life he had been trained not to be spotted by the enemy, and now his challenge was to fight face to face, mano a mano, with the major. But he was willing to give his all out. He was very fast, and without his sniper on his back encumbering, he was much lighter then he would usually. So, grabbing his katana's grip with both hands, he took off running towards the Major, and swung to the chest, from right to left, while moving from left to right, attempting to position himself behind the Major, thus striking his back. He was not stopping, however, and intended to keep light on his feet and legs, so he could evade, and counter any measures the Major applied.

 

[Niner]

Zaneak smiled under his helmet, this was good. There was no way he could avoid this strike, but that wouldn't matter. The katana hit the armor plating on Zaneak's back and shattered into four pieces. "Good, good. Now since I suppose you are adept at cover, camoflauge, and marksmanship, what do you think we should cover now?"

 

[DhehKappa]

OOC: Sorry, I didn't understand...did the blade shatter, or the back plating armor shatter?

 

[Niner]

((The blade shattered.))

Timothy's eyes widened as the blade shatered...then, the Major asked him what they should practice next. "I--I have no idea sir...I've been in the army too little, and even less on the Alsakan army."

 

[Niner]

"Tell me, did your blade shattering make you feel uncomfortable? Did it surprise you?" Zaneak was going somewhere with this, it had happened to him once before so he knew what Timothy was probably feeling.

 

[DhehKappa]

"Surprise isn't the first word that comes to mind..." Timothy was confused. How could a battle armor not only withstand the strike of a katana, but shatter it? Timothy's hands were still gripped around the hilt of the katana, shaking slightly...the strenght of the hit was strong enough to imprint nervousism into him.

 

[Niner]

Zaneak smiled under his helmet. "This armor was specially made to absorb the strength of a blow and spread it across the entire suit, and back up the blade of the weapon. This would be a good oportuinty to learn how to fight at a disadvantage. One time, when I was still a mercanary, the same thing happened to me, my Katana shattered and I was left with a short peice of jagged metal, I still won the fight. You must learn to do the same. Having a shorter blade has it's disadvantages of course, but it also has it's advantages, see if you can figure then out. EN GARDE!" Zaneak brought his Katana up to the ready position and waited for Timothy to attack.

It was obvious to Timothy what was the advantage of small blades…the speed increased considerably. Using it, he would attempt to bust a big strike on the Major’s front. Picking the grip with one hand, he would show him now why he was still alive. Running to the Major, he threw himself to the front of the major, with his free, left hand, landing it on the floor so he could spin to the Major’s right, then attempting to strike with his right hand at the Major’s back.

 

[Niner]

Zaneak didn't block the strike with his blade, he simply slid backwards so that the blade cut air instead of hitting his armor. "Good, good, you have realized you are faster with a smaller blade, and have just been shown the one of the disadvantages of a smaller blade. There are other advantages as well, try to find them."

 

[DhehKappa]

The Major dodged it too easily…Timothy was not that good at melee combat, he thought to himself…Getting himself up, he swung the shattered katana twice, in X, in front of the Major, really close to him, and finally thrust it towards the chest, where the chest plates meet the abdomen.

 

[Niner]

"No, no, no." Zaneak said as he simply parried each blow. "You must get in as close as you can, inside the reach of my longer katana. Zaneak pushed himself up against Timothy and pulled a dagger out of his forearm plate, "When you are close up you have the advantage with a shorter blade. Don't let yourself be kept at a distance." Zaneak backed away and put the dagger back. "Now you try."

 

[DhehKappa]

"Damn!..." Timothy ran again towards the Major, grinding his teeth, roaring slightly, and once he was in reach, he went ninja: he jumped, back to the floor, down, between the Major's legs. Putting one hand on the Major's knee, he backed himself up quickly, and jumped to the Major's back, crossing his legs in front of the Major's chest, compressing it as hard as he could, and thrusted the blade downwards to the neck, with his left hand attempting to push his jaw upwards to uncover more area.

Zaneak felt Timothy latch onto his back. The compression of Timothy's legs did nothing to Zaneak because of his armor. Using his superior strength he kept his head up, making a tight seal between his helmet and back plate, the blade would no be able to get through. He was right, it bounced off the helmet, leaving a small scratch. Zaneak simply leaned his weight backwards, as if he was going to fall flat on his back, were Timothy was clinging.

Using his superior agility, Timothy very quickly climed the Major's back, and as he fell, Timothy's light weight might have done little damage. But he used the fall to raise the shattered blade of his katana and with the fall impact, he thrust all his weight into the strike on the abdomen.
