Sonny Mills grimaced as he stepped out of the speeder. Even out here by the palace, Nal'Hutta, by all accounts, was a reeking ball of chemical waste products. The smell made him cringe. It was almost as if he feared that it would stick in his expensive grey suit. But as soon as he got out of the speeder, he hid any expression of disgust behind an emotionless mask on his face, covering his eyes with a pair of black sunglasses. As he walked up to the large, solid steel gate blocking the entrance to the palace of Nor'Baal VesaJilic Diori, he slammed his fist into it several times in a knocking motion. A circular hatch opened in the wall, and an eye like machine on a steel pipe came out, staring at him.

"Sonny Mills. I'm here to see the "eminent" Hutt." Sonny muttered, sarcastic intonation on the word "eminent". The eye made a couple of beeping noises in some droid language Mills didn't understand, and was retracted. The hatch closed, and moments later, the gates began to open with a groaning sound. Mills took a step back, waiting to step into the long corridor until the gate had retracted into the sealing. A droid was waiting on the other side. It was a protocol droid with a silvery exterior somewhat resembling a small human.

"Good evening, sire. His Eminence Master Nor'Baal VesaJilic Diori is waiting for you. Please follow me."

A grunt was the only thing the droid got in response as Sonny followed him through the corridor. It was high in the ceiling, and the brown stone walls made it feel like some kind of military compound or a garage more than a palace. A couple of non-human guests or visitors glared at him as he walked past them, but when he stared right back, they looked away and hurried off. Sonny then followed the droid through a couple of more corridors, until they came to another large, though smaller than the front gate, door. It, too, opened into the ceiling, allowing entry to the innermost sanctum of the palace; Nor'Baal VesaJilic Diori's throne room.

The protocol droid stepped inside, and Sonny followed him. His eyes immediately began to take everything in. He noticed the guards standing more or less relaxed, some with drinks, others focusing on their job, along the walls. A couple of twi'lek dancers were entertaining in the center of the room, accompanied by the rough and alien sounding tunes and singing of a band, though they stopped playing abruptly when the newcomer entered the throne room. And at the other end of the room, guarded on each side by a handful of bounty hunters, mercenaries and guards, sat the man, well, hutt himself.

There wasn't much to say about Nor'Baal's appearance - after all, to Sonny, all Hutts looked the same. That wasn't to say that he wasn't impressed, though he didn't show it. But the resources he had seen so far had definitely been impressive - smaller perhaps than what he had seen with some Hutt lords on Nar Shaddaa, but nonetheless impressive. It was clear he had come to the right place. The hutt himself was large, very large, sizing up to at least three meters in height. Sonny didn't even dare to take a guess at his weight.

"Your Sublime Magnificence." The protocol droid spoke, stuttering as he did, clearly afraid of the fat slug in front of him. "Mr Sonny Mills of Coruscant, here to discuss a joint business venture with Your Eminence." He turned around and began to hurry away before he incurred the wrath of his sizeable master. Mills stepped up towards the hutt, but stopped five or so meters away from him, and spoke in fluent Huttese - a skill brought to him from his childhood on Nar Shaddaa working for Hutt crime lords, though it sounded off coming from a human:

"Good evening. I trust I am not interrupting your entertainment?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "I have come here to discuss a business venture that could be very profitable for the both of us. Though I would rather talk about that in a more private setting. You know, away from the peons." He added sarcastically as he shot the guard captain a side-glance. The man's face contorted in suppressed anger, but Mills ignored him.

Jumping Ewoks, blue ones. Skipping merrily through the leafy glades of the forest, Nor'baal followed them laughing and bouncing, his hearty boom echoing around the room. A woodpecker. Peck, peck, peck.

''....Sire, sire!'' the irritated voice chirped prodding the Hutts belly sharply. Nor'baal jerked awake from his slumber, the dreams fading away to be replaced by the dull yet comforting bleariness of his throne room. ''Sonny Mills Sire.''

<Kee hasa do Blasto Murishani> growled the Hutt, as he commanded the man to remove all of his weapons. When he had done so. The Hutt waved a stubby arm, dismissing the occupants of the room, even the Guard Captain.

<Chowbaso Sonny. Hi Chuba da Naga?> the deep voice resonated once more, enquiring what it was the new-comer wanted. In the corner of the room, the silver droid remained, waiting to see if Sonny understood the Hutts words.

Sonny surrendered his only weapon...well, his only firearm, to the guards. By old habit, he always kept a karambit, a curved dagger ending in a hook, in the waistband of his linen pants along his back. But of course he had no plans on carving his way to funding today. As the peons left, aside from the silvery droid and the hutt, Nor'Baal spoke to him in Huttese. Sonny frowned, turned and looked at the droid for a moment.

"Scram." He said. The droid jumped in surprise, and hurried away out of the room. Sonny turned back to the hutt.

"My apologies. I don't trust droids." He said to the hutt in fluent Huttese. "Now that we're alone, let me explain why I am here." He took a deep breath, and then began: "I am seeking a partner, and financier, for a business deal I intend to orchestrate. There is a planet on the frontier regions of space called Zonju V. It is a lawless place where gangs fight over control of the cities, its capital - if indeed it can be called that - the most. I will not bore you with details, your eminence. Suffice it to say that there is one group of criminals in particular who need something that you can provide."

"I am of course speaking of weapons." He looked deep into the Hutt's brown eyes. "My offer to you is this; You will provide me with weapons to a worth of 250,000 credits, as well as transport to Zonju V. Once there, I will negotiate the sale of said weapons to a buyer I have already made contact with, at double the price. Your profits will be 250,000 credits - 500,000 credits in all, minus a twenty-five percent cut for me." He went silent for a moment, but then continued: "I would do this deal myself - however, I lack the resources that you have. And while I could finance a transaction on a smaller scale myself, I like to think, work - and profit - big. I'm sure a hutt of your power and intelligence understands this." He added with a wry smile.

The Hutt considered the proposal for some time, before finally responding.

<You know your markets Sonny, but tell me something. I make millions of credits, what does a mere quater of million grant me? What else do you think this agreement might lead to?> asked Nor'baal.

Sonny nodded slowly. He had been expecting that question.
"Zonju is a hole in the ground right now. But in the next few years, there's going to be a lot of opportunities for profit as it develops. Not just quarter of a million credit deals. This deal will help us in several ways. First, it will be the first of many deals like this if all goes well. Secondly, it will give us local contacts that will be of great use to us, especially if Zonju one day becomes a planet that we want to conduct business on. But, right now, the most important key is this. Zonju is currently balanced on a very delicate scale of deterrence. Each gang that controls the capital has the same firepower as the others."

A small smile spread on his lips.
"If you add some firepower to one side, the scale will no longer be in balance. War can be the only outcome. And with that war comes a need for weapons, from all sides. We'll be able to supply weapons to every side of the conflict - because there is no internal arms manufacture on Zonju - and make enormous profits. There'll be maximum profit, and minimum involvement on our side. That might be some time down the road, but it will happen sooner or later - but right now, we're still looking at one deal like this every month for the foreseeable future, which means considerable profits for you. If all goes well, that is. If they can be trusted." He added.

A fat rubbery tongue rolled across the Hutt's lips. 3,000,000 Credits, minimum, plus a new network of contacts and the potential for a profitable war. He liked it.

<Borgan Chee Kospah!> Nor'baal declared. The deal was struck.

<250,000 Credits worth of weapons every month, in return for 250,000 credits profit per month. The of course, the contacts and the future weapon deals for the war! We have a deal!> bellowed the Hutt.

Sonny cracked a smile at the hutt's words, an unusual thing for him.
"Excellent. We are both going to be very wealthy men, my enormous friend." He added before turning around to leave: "I will be in touch."

As he walked out of the throne room, the people began to filter back in. Sonny's mind was already busy with plans. Once he received the weapons and a means of transport from the Hutt, he would be on his way to Zonju. With the first deal he'd make 125,000 dollars. It was a good deal for Sonny, especially considering that it was in all likelyhood only the first of many, many similar deals. And of course, the deal was even better for the Hutt, who would make enormous amounts of money from the deal and what came of it.

Everybody profited. Even the lowlives they would sell the guns to.

And when the war broke out... A smirk spread on Sonny's lips.

Millions.
