Valek Dagger, nearly sixty four years old, once a Master and Council Member of the Shade Order, once a freelance mercenary, and at one brief moment in time a husband and father. He has lived through two wars now, doing his best to not get dragged into either one as he witnessed the rise and fall of orders, organizations and powerful people. Some things remained unanswered though, things he may never get an answer too. What will the Bogan do if they win the galaxy? Should the Republic win their war over the Hutts, what will become of the worlds and people the Hutts once controlled? Who was this Sector Thirteen, and what connection do they have with the Republic? In the end, none of it mattered much in his plans.

He has lost people close to him: His apprentice Draven Romulous and his former master and possibly only real friend Quentell Xall were the ones who stood out the most. The former lost and impossible to track down and the latter murdered by the unknown. The one he tried to put behind him was his deceased wife Mirilana, the mother of his only daughter who was lost to him ages ago. After witnessing everything, the pain he suffered through years, he had come to some conclusions in his life, ones he lived by for most his life that turned out to be false. The lobotomy performed on him was not successful, his mind only made him believe it had. After researching through his family tree, dating back to his great grandparent's parents, he has discovered only two others were touched by the Force, one of them having the same unstable connection Valek had. All it told him was his bloodline never saw many individuals in it that could tap into the Force.

He sat there in his staff suite near the 80th floor in the tall building known as The Empress on the planet Zeltros. He had it modified some so it fit a small armory that held his weapons and his suit, along with a spare. The bed was nicely made and looked as if it had not yet been touched. The bar was cleared of alcoholic beverages considering Valek never touched the stuff. The windows had a fine view of the overlook and sunset in a distance. He was holding his helmet that he once called his face, observing it as he gently set it on his nightstand, sighing some. His time as a fighter was over, he was now only a protector and observer for one particular person and those she cared for. And yet, after so much time has passed since his employment and friendship he entered with her, he still did not know how to tell her that he loved her.

He went to his closet to change into something more fitting then his leather trench coat and light armor. He threw on a protective vest, then proceeded to put on a long sleeve black coat with matching dress shirt under it, with matching pants and some black dress shoes. After washing his face some, he went to do with what hair on his head he had to look nice, proceeded to tidy anything up he left unattended, then left his room. Despite his appearance, inside his dress coat was both his magnum and his lightsaber. He was still head of security of this place and in turn, still had a job to uphold.
