A Familiar But New Art

[GABA]

Excitement lead to cockiness for Rehni. But she needed to take a day before to herself to calm her mind. The young woman had practiced much on her own, but she felt she would need more than just what she thought was good for her and not that what she was taught wasn't good by her Master but she felt something was still missing. She had sought out Master Karasu, the sword master of the Jedi temple and he was gracious enough to take her as a student.

She followed his instructions and meet her new Master and followed the familiar halls to the training rooms. Rehni was unsure what to expect, she knew it was going to be tougher...maybe...or...what if she didn't fit to be a student of his. Her mind begun to pull in all directions and she remembered this feeling of anxiousness and stopped, letting her mind be controlled once again by the Force.

Rehni stepped inside the room, calmer, but still nervous.

 

[Will]

Huang was already in the room, sat, back to the door.

''Knight Tak'n. You wish to study Jar'Kai, correct?''

He rose, pulling his black robe on.

''Show me your lightsabre.''

 

[GABA]

Rehni bowed to him respectfully as he stood up and approached.

"Correctess tis'" she spoke and followed his request unlatching her lightsaber and holding it up for him.

 

[Will]

Huang willed the sabre over with the force. He turned to a wall, pulling out a rack. He ran his hands over the amassed sabre hilts, occasionally glancing back at the knight, like an tailor looking for the perfect fabric for their client.

He drew a pair of hilts from the rack, returning the racks seamlessly into their insets. He placed Rehni's blade on a small lectern, on the far side of the hall.

He threw the training sabres to her.

''Until you master Jar'Kai with these, you cannot wield that.''

Huang pointed to Rehni's lone sabre.

''In Jar'kai, you must concentrate, totally, and fully, on the battle. You are wielding two weapons at once. Now tell me, knight Tak'n. In which hand are you dominant?''

 

[GABA]

Rehni felt a pull of the Force and watched her lightsaber sit across the room. She took hold of the two new hilts, they did feel foreign in her hands but yet comfortable and familiar. She nodded understanding she would not carry her original blade anymore and replied: "Rightess."

 

[Will]

''Until I say, you will use one blade, in your left hand.''

Huang ignited his own training sabre, silver in hue, throwing harsh light and deep shadows around the arena.

''Attack me.''

 

[GABA]

Rehni clipped the other blade to her belt. She thought it was odd to use her left hand, but then again, it made sense to her why Master Huang would want her to do so in the first place. She ignited her blade and twirled her wrist to get a feel for it. She definitely felt clumsy with it her left hand and did not feel comfortable enough to even attack the Master.

She did as she was told and sprung off her feet, throwing the blade down upon the Master.

 

[Will]

Huang used the force, pulling the blade into his free hand.

His blade turned off, and he span, hitting Rehni in the face, sending her flying accros the arena, into the ground.. He simply had to wait for her to come for him, a major problem with the aerial attack. He threw the weapon to her, where it landed in front of her face on the floor.

''Don't throw away your weapon.''

he re-ignited his blade.

''Again.''

 

[GABA]

Rehni surely had deserved that, she knew herself she was thinking too much into this and just needed to let go. Let out a huff and stood to her feet picking up her lightsaber and igniting it in her left hand, it still was awkward feeling, but her weakness was her thinking of it.

She quickly walked forward, coming on with an underhand slash of her blade.

 

[Will]

Huang swatted the attack down, rolling his shoulder to knock her back, He didn't attack, letting the knight come at him again.

 

[GABA]

Rehni stepped back to give herself some space, she came at him again, listening to the Force to tell her were to swing. She twisted her body, bringing her blade around to slash across his chest.

 

[Will]

Huang used a wide sweeping gesture, knocking the blade aside. He pressed the attack, propelling a thrust forward. The glimmering blade shot through the air, a beam of sunlight captured and frozen into a thing of war.

To accelerate learning, Huang always found mild peril worked well with his students.

 

[GABA]

Rehni felt a change in waves in the Force, she was told to follow it and she listened. The young Knight moved with the Force, her senses picked up on Master Huang's blade movement. She didn't even realize she was still fighting with her left hand as brought her blade up to block him. She pushed off and with a backhand, swept her blade across his torso.

 

[Will]

Huang's wrist rotated, the blade tipping down vertically, blocking the strike. She was getting better. A bit longer like this, and She'd be able to fight with the two. He rotated the blade in a lateral semi circle, before pushing it in a vertical strike aimed for her head, pushing forward. While the block was slow, the strike homed in incredibly quick.

 

[GABA]

Rehni felt a change in pace, her body quickly adapted to it. She swung her blade up catching his vertical strike from slicing open her head, she through out her hand releasing a Force push on the sword-master's torso.

 

[Will]

Huang was pleased she stopped the blow, albeit clumsily.

He used tutaminis techniques to absorb the puch, using the gathered energy to empower his limbs. He spun, insanely fast, using his momentum for a diagonal strike from Rehni's right left shoulder to right hip.

 

[GABA]

Rehni's world slowed down, she saw what was coming and she knew where she was to move. The knight retaliated, with both hands on her blade, she swung up her blade to meet his before it reached down her hip, she could feel the strength behind his attack; she threw her strength against his and sent an elbow to his jaw.

 

[Will]

Huang's mouth twitched. Maybe...a smile?

As soon as she moved that elbow, Huang broke bladelock, ducking down, his back leg moving back, but his front leg staying in place, before it swept across her legs as she reached the maximum extension, and least balance, of her move, thanks to the off hand being the dominant in the two handed grip. The lapse would cost her. He then spun around, rising behind her. He let her fall painfully to the floor, before picking her up.

''You have improved with your off hand.'' He inspected her likely broken nose, as per usual, using the pain to underline harsh points.

''You must be good with both hands. The blades must be extensions of your arms equally. A moment of weakness with either, and you will die.''

He turned his blade off.

''You will now be competent enough to use two blades at once, for basic moves. First, I shall teach you a strong stance to use. Think of it as your centre. From this stance, you can attack, defend, react how you see fit in a situation.''

Huang bent both legs slightly, his dominant foot forward, dominant hand holding a blade in standard grip, the arm curved slightly around his body, so the ignited blade was nearly horizontal, in front of him. His off hand held the blade in reverse grip, arm back slightly, so the blade projected in the mirror of the front blade, but behind him.

''Assume this position.''

 

[GABA]

The Force told her to prepare, she knew what was coming as she fell hard. She accepted her Master's help and she leap to her feet. Her nose hurt was bleeding some; and for the moment focused on stopping the bleeding with the aid of the Force and removing the pain to focus.

She studied her Master, she moved her right foot in front and her dominant hand forward; her arm mirrored the right only to be behind her. She could feel how she this could be offensive or defensive, her mind grinned.

 

[Will]

Huang appraised the position she had taken, circling her, reaching out to move parts of her into the correct position, the seemingly minute manipulations having a great effect on the overall effect of the position.

''This is the stance you need to take. Before engaging, when you need space, and on the defence. It is a base to start from. Your centre. You must fight to maintain it.''

He paused his slow circling in front of Rehni.

''I want you to leap forward, attack me, the assume this position again.''

Huang ignited his solitary lightsabre used for training.
