Remember - no attacks are to be launched in your first post and roll dice to determine how effective your attacks are. Both of these opponents are the level of a Jedi Master.

Reinforcements had arrived as they stormed into the main area of the Temple and Max was glad of them. Their experiences so far had been reasonably mixed but nothing promised that would last. Indeed, the Dark Side was growing denser, as though it was more focused. The ritual was still ongoing and he could feel it below them but that wasn't what he was feeling.

No, he could feel two beings on the same level as them that stood between themselves and the entrance to the under level. Both were young men but it wasn't immediately clear what species they were, one with a metallic hand and jaw - the other with face-paint all over as though he were religiously prepared for the encounter.

Max's saberstaff ignited at both ends and he held it at the ready, standing at the front of the Jedi group.

"Stand aside and let us pass so we may halt this evil!"

He had to try it - just once - to see if there was a chance to avoid the bloodshed. The two figures, standing at the other end of the hall, heard him and reacted in different ways. The one with the painted face, The Warrior, reached into his own mouth and tore free his tongue before throwing it onto the ground in front of him, shaking his head even as blood leaked out of his mouth.

That was a fairly extreme way of saying that he didn't want to talk about it but Max got the gist of it.

"So be it."

Oorrl often travelled following the Force, going to where he was most needed and so when the Jedi Council had contacted him to reinforce a Jedi strike against a dangerous group of Dark Side Fanatics on the very planet he and his padawan where already on, well, it seemed that this was the will of the Force.

Placing a hand on Rah’la’s shoulder he centered himself in the force. A being of calm before entering the coming battle. “Stay close to me and trust yourself my young Padawan. Focus on the moment, not what will or could be and all will be well.” he assured her with all the confidence one could imagine as if he had already seen the outcome of the battle.

Moving forward slowly, almost ponderously, the Knight took position to one side of Jedi Master Tionson as he offered mercy to the two cultists. Oorrl’s hand twitched, summoning his weapon to his hand. A blade the colour of the Waterfalls of Ithor ignited from Oorrl’s hilt.

He watched passively as one of the Cultists tore his tongue free from his mouth and threw it to the ground. The act of grotesque self-inflicted violence elicited no physical reaction from the Ithorian except for a soft sigh.

“You have already lost.” he told the pair sadly as the other reinforcements arrayed themselves.

“You merely bring further unnecessary violence.”

The blue blade came up into a centre, balance, stance. It was Oorrl’s opening stance for Shii-Cho, the Form he had mastered beyond it’s mere basics.

Centering himself not only physically but spiritually he let his consciousness spread out to softly touch upon the other Jedi nearby and waited.

The Force would tell him the moment he had to act.

After their small training retreat things had really stepped up for the crew of the Viridian Orchid. She tried not to think about the minor disaster her curiosity had nearly unleashed earlier on this very world and attempted to take a page out of Master Fonwim’s book on tranquility and peace. She tried; succeeding was another matter entirely. Excitement was building within her as they met up with the team they would be supporting and as they deployed to the location where this blood cult had taken hold, she wondered if she would ever stop being shocked by the depravity of those who worshipped the dark. Sacrificing force sensitive creatures and doing who knew what in their rituals? Rah’la could think of better things to do on a Holiday adventure than revel in madness.

Oorrl’s comforting hand upon her shoulder drew her thoughts into sharper focus settling her charged nerves. Everything would work out fine, she reassured herself. The Order wouldn’t have deployed her if she wasn’t ready despite being nearly onsite to begin with, right? Clearing her throat she nodded her head and gave the man a slight smile before saying, ”Yes Master Fonwim” and then promptly fell silent so she might release her anxiety. Inhaling, she let out a pent up breath and felt her tensions slipping away. Everyone was here, she reminded herself, because they were necessary to the mission, herself included.

Flitting eye contact among the other members of the party, acknowledging their presence, she held her tongue and sharpened her focus as she moved out with her companions. Her first sight of the two blocking their way sobered her completely. But then she couldn’t have known what a complete nut job she would be facing. The display that soon followed was one of unimagined horror to the Padawan and she couldn’t help but think these cultists would have done better to give up as the one-eyed man had suggested.

Repeating Oorrl’s words to herself, ‘you have already lost’, she too would draw her lightsaber, It's aquamarine glow added illumination to the scene along with that of her Master’s. Time to make good on her training.

The padawan followed Max into the temple and got a gander at what he saw. Not only did he see the pair, but he could feel the pair. This place was oozing the dark side and these men were feeding off of it. It appeared that they were guarding the entrance to the ceremony. Ending it was the mission, but it seemed these two were insistent on being a roadblock.

When the warrior tore his own tongue out and threw it on the ground, Isen looked perplexed. He wasn't disgusted or frightened. He just wondered what other body parts of his may be littering this place. The Kiffar padawan slowly reached across his chest with one arm and pulled against his elbow. He did the same with the arm. He got a stretch in his arms and back. He popped his neck and his knuckles and took a look at the group he was in.

Their opponents were strong in the Force. Isen could sense that. What kind of combatants they are? That remained to be seen.

When the call had gone out for reinforcements to aid in combatting a Dark Side cult on the planet of Onderon, Drow had leapt to take the call, even though he was quite busy these days training his own Padawan, building a new lightsaber, and setting up a security force for the Temple. But he still did not hesitate for he had seen firsthand on Sullust and Dantooine the dangers that the Dark Side lead to and he was more than happy to help this strike team out.

Making their way into the Temple, Drow halted like the others as they were confronted by the sight of the two figures. Wanting to avoid bloodshed whenever possible, Drow was grateful that Max offered them the chance to let them pass peacefully. And then one of them ripped out their own tongue and threw it on the ground. Having seen too much in his life to be phased by the sight of gore, Drow was more saddened than anything. Saddened that once again, the chance for peace was shot and that combat was once again required.

"Well, he can't lick us now anyways..." Drow remarked, trying to keep people's spirits up.

Drast laughed as he fell in beside Venn. "That's a bold move, Venn, lets see if it pays off, yeah?" he would pull his vibrosword free, giving it a flourish before he gripped the pommel with both hands and held the blade over his head. Galaar. The Form of the Hawk. Striking and defending from above provides in increase in speed. He could hear his fathers words. His grip tightened as he exhaled slowly. This would be his first real fight with well-trained followers of the Dark Side.

Standing between Venn and Rahla, he'd whisper to the other Padawan. "No fear, we can do this, yeah? You got your Master at your side and if I'm able, you got me as well." his tone was warm and the smile soft as he gave her a curt nod. He was careful to never speak too loud, he didn't want to cut into Max's moment.

Although, now that he had a thought in mind, he looked to Venn, still whispering. "You don't think Claptrap is going to start monologuing, do you?"

The team that arrived at the entrance counted walking wounded amongst them - and although Fiach never feared an outcome, the factor of the unknown was never a positive. There was every likelihood the strongest of the Dark-siders were still inside and they had the element of home turf and who knew what kind of booby-traps?

But, by good fortune - or maybe just the will of the Force - reinforcements arrived and bolstered their number considerably. But if they had momentum in their favour, it swiftly evaporated when the tongue was thrown to the ground. It spoke (no pun intended) of a determination and fervour that meant there was going to be no peaceful solution. Yet it was the quiet one that Fiach focused on.

It was always the quiet ones you had to watch...

Please roll for your defense's effectiveness and your counter attack's effectiveness and link in your post. Do not autohit - allow the DM to declare how effective your attacks are compared to the defenses of the fighters.

The Warrior turned to The Priest, head tilted to one side slightly as he drew his lightsabers and ignited both red blades. After a second, The Priest nodded and suddenly the Dark Side all around the room became... tense, as though the strands of Darkness that had been floating through the room were actually strings set up prior to the Jedi entry to the room.

Which was exactly the case.

Using the natural build up of the Dark Side, The Priest had hidden his trap underneath what the Jedi could sense and now unleashed it. The roof of the temple, not just the ceiling or the plaster of the ceiling but the whole roof... was Pulled in. Large sections at a time, the roof and ceiling fell all around the Temple.

Giant sections the size of small houses came tumbling down at the Jedi and The Warrior had to work over-time, slashing sections falling around him and his partner with such power in the Force that with each slash of their sabers, the sections would split and fall to the sides.

The Priest sought to bury the Jedi without burying himself.

Max hadn't expected a trap and he felt foolish for not expecting one considering how long the Cultists had had to prepare the temple for their arrival. The Jedi and their allies had been delayed in the forest and in the courtyard as well - it just made sense that they would trap the area.

A section of roof was falling toward Max at speed and he wasn't prepared for it but not being prepared was not enough to keep a Jedi Master down. Reaching into the Force even as the slab of plaster, tile and stone came tumbling down toward him, Max grunted as he Pushed up at the section that aimed to crush him.

With an explosive sound, half of the section burst into splinters of the materials rather than the full mass. Unfortunately for Max, this meant he was still peppered with smaller pieces of stone, one jarring his left shoulder with a pretty solid hit.

"... our turn."

Raising his left hand, Max levitated some of the smaller debris that he had made with the partial destruction. With a twisting thrust motion of his left hand, the cloud of debris accelerated quickly at The Warrior, the defender of The Priest. Some pieces were as small as his fingers but others were fist or even head sized.

He didn't think The Warrior would be able to block them all.

The Dark Side rolled through the room with unshakeable force. The Jedi Knight couldn’t banish it, not even close, but he didn’t need to. A single candle could hold back the Darkness and there were many Jedi present.

The trap probably should have been obvious but for all his combat skill Oorrl was no tactician although the way the galaxy was going that might be an unavoidable future. Well if he lived that long.

Beside him Master Tionson was using the Force to defend himself. Oorrl was close enough to gain some little benefit from the Master’s attempt but he still needed to defend himself as the room came collapsing in towards them.

Trusting his blade more than his sheer Force power the Ithorian’s blue lightsaber flashed up to cut the oncoming debris. With expert skill he managed to shatter and cut the most dangerous pieces coming down near him but unfortunately his speed wasn’t enough and some small pieces still cracked down on the Jedi’s head.

Taking a step forward, moving further forward than the other Jedi, the Ithorian took a deep breath. He’d only have a single chance to do this without catching his allies in the blast. Channeling the power of the Force through his body to amplify the Ithorian roared in the Warrior and Priests direction. He couldn’t focus the blast any further than that.

At best he might stun the Cultists whilst at worst he hoped to at least disorientate them for a moment.

Defensive: Blocks the largest pieces of debris but a few smaller pieces get through.
Offensive: Uses Force Bellow in the direction of the Priest and Warrior
before the other Jedi move forward. This should be fully effective however it will leave Oorrl completely winded for the next round.
Technique Used: Force Bellow

Rah’la couldn’t help but snort upon hearing the Jedi Knight’s quip about the severed tongue. She had always been a sucker for cornball humor especially in moments of high tension but the Ishi Tib’s nerve in cracking wise in the face of such a gruesome display exceeded her own by far. It seems to do the trick, for the absurdity of the Warrior’s self mutilation was made more ridiculous because it was met with blatant and open ridicule.

She didn’t know who most of the people among the defenders were but the Jedi’s name was supplied by a familiar, although unlooked for, face. Not that long ago when she and Master Fonwim were on Corellia she had met Padawan Drahr and so when he gave them all words of encouragement she replied just as softly,”Don’t look now but your trousers are undone”, delivered without so much as cracking a smile.

Despite the brief moments of levity, she kept her focus upon the two Cultists trying not to be overwhelmed by the growing oppressive nature of the darkside. Certainly these two before them were to blame in part, but whatever it was they were guarding in the chamber beyond was more foul than anything she had ever encountered before. Was she imagining the darkness was actually taking shape?

Her unblinking eyes seemed to grow rounded, if such a thing was possible, as she realized a bit too late that a trap had been sprung. Everything happened at once, the roof being pulled down upon all their heads, and everyone scrambling to get out of the way and block the debris. Oorrl had told her to stay focused on the moment and with the roof caving in from above all thoughts of the menace in the other room fled in favor of basic survival.

Rah’la should have known better than to risk her focus by making jokes because when she raised her right hand to the falling stones trying to push a chunk to the side she failed to take into account the second one dropping down behind her. It was a stupid mistake and had she not been fooling around trying to sound chill she would have detected that danger. She had drilled and drilled on defending against ranged combat and numerous projectiles.

Naturally as she forced the first stone away she had jumped backward and so came right into the path of the second. Thankfully it was not big enough to crush her and didn’t fall on her head or that would have been the end of her very short career. Even so, the mellon sized stone hit her right shoulder knocking her to the floor and causing her hand to go numb. Ire rose up inside her at her uselessness and instantly she honed in on the offending stone and hurled it with the force toward the Warrior. It was a futile attempt and doomed to failure, this she knew before she had even lowered her numb hand back down to her side and began attempting to scramble back to her feet.

Rolls
Defense: Attempt to evade falling debris, 8 Major fail
Offense: Attempt to force push stone toward the Warrior, 13 minor fail

As the Priest began to pull the strings which acted like invisible columns for the ceiling and roof, large creeks began to ripple through space into Isen's ears. Looking up at the source of that sound, cracks began to run along the ceiling above the Jedi and then splinter in several more lines which would splinter into even more.

"I've got a bad feeling about this..." Isen said, igniting both of his cobalt-colored lightsabers.

As the roof began to come down in huge chunks, Isen would try to rely on the mixture of his athleticism and trusting the Force to guide his movements. He would try to sprint to spots and pause in safe places as the ceiling crashed around him, then sprint again to another spot before the chunk above him would fall. He would try to make a path, best he could toward the pair of Dark Siders as he did.

Master Thral's insistence on trusting the Force paid off. By and large, he was able to sprint, stutter, and stop without major harm befalling him and was able to deflect and split any medium-sized chunks that fell independently with his lightsabers. Smaller pieces of debris fell on him of course, some of them sharp, others blunt. He would suffer some minor cuts and bruises, but he couldn't complain about his current state considering the threat of the falling ceiling.

As many Jedi Knights were tossing things at the Warrior and the Warrior himself was preoccupied with falling debris, Isen would give a direct attack a shot. He lept high and toward the warrior, hoping to attack from above. The left hand held a blade that would try to block any incoming attacks from the warrior while the blade in the right hand would strive to come down hard right over the top, slightly angled as if to try to dissect from the side of the neck toward the opposite hip in a classic Djem So power attack.

Mixed success
First roll was defense against the caving roof. Mostly goes as plans.
Second roll was the counterattack. Barely a success.

Welp, there went the roof. Drow, at this point in his Jedi career couldn't really say that much surprised him about the Sith's reaction sto things but he set about trying to counter to them all the same. He closed his eyes, letting the Force flow through him and reached out to the falling pieces of debris. He grabbed the one falling immediately above him and held it in the air above him, letting it serve as a type of umbrella, using it to shield himself from the other falling pieces of debris above. When the weight of the piece of debris became too heavy for him to sustain, Drow would launch the chunk of rock towards the Priest.

Defense: 5: Major fail. Drow Drastically underestimates the size of the debris and many small pieces slip through the cracks and strike him.
Counter: 65. Pretty successful throw

Drastus would crack a grin at Rahla "Guess you noticed first. I do it to distract, it was meant to throw them off their game, guess we can chalk this up to friendly fire, yeah?" He felt pretty good surrounded by many of his fellows and it was in that singular moment that the guys in black decided to bring the ceiling down on them. Armed with a vibrosword he had zero chance of cutting massive debris and that's when he saw Isen dart. If he could do it, so could Drast, right? Right?

Drastus would shoot a wink at Rahla before darting forward, using the force to give him a little juice. Eyes scanning, above, he would dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge his way through the debris, but not without some casualty. A sharp piece of stone would rip through his sleeve and cut his arm a bit. "Pajama Clan.." he mused quietly.

"Ohh.. you guys just kriffed up." Drast growled, his path having taken him almost in a circle around, he would launch himself at the Priest, his vibrosword flourishing in a spin mid-leap before he brought it downward in a slash aimed at the Ebony Pajama Bandits outstretched arm. Arm for a sleeve seemed fair to him, he just hoped the Force felt so to.

Defense: 27: Barely a success. The Drasty schmooves to the groove but with a minor casualty: his sleeve. Counter: 88: Rousing Success. The Drasty keeps on schmoovin to the groovin.

The Warrior was not so named purely for his preference for battle but also because of his efficiency at it. Without missing a beat, he pivoted to the right to avoid the worst of what Max threw his way, his blades carving through some of what came at him regardless, ignoring the way some of the fragments cut at his exposed skin. To protect himself from the Force Bellow of the Jedi, The Warrior responded in kind not with a sonic attack but with a wave of force as he slammed his sabers together. His strength, enhanced by the Force, caused a deeply unsettling sound and a small explosion of force around him that disrupted the Below that tried to reach him.

He did not counter the whole thing but he cared not for his own safety from the attack was assured.

Seeing Isen come flying at him in a jump attack, The Warrior narrowed his eyes and prepared for the clash. When Isen was almost on the ground again, he struck. Swinging both of his sabers, The Warrior caught Isen's attacking saber with his own left one and swung directly at Isen's secondary saber with his right one. The whole point of the counter, however, was to hit both blades (though hitting the Jedi wouldn't be too much of an issue in itself) with enough power that it would fling Isen off to the left, the Jedi unable to counter the change in momentum and direction due to having sacrificed sure footing for an attack.

--

The Priest was not as prepared for an assault as The Warrior was, named for his studious nature and approach to the Force rather than his skill in combat. Whereas The Warrior had managed to negate the Force Bellow around him, The Priest was caught off-guard by such a niche attack and clutched both hands to his ears in rage and pain. As his ears bled from the sudden lack of hearing, however, The Priest drew upon the rage and pain to react to the rock thrown his way by Drow.

Lashing out angrily, he threw both of his hands to the left, slamming the thrown rock angrily to the ground with so much force that it shattered upon contact. Having his hand outstretched was what Drastus was looking for and the spin attack came too fast for The Priest to defend himself properly so he sacrificed something.

Drastus' vibrosword would cut through The Priest's outstretched right hand, cutting it off at the wrist, but as the teen was mid-spin Lightning would leap from The Priest's withdrawn left hand to slam at Drastus' unprotected side.

Max didn't expect the rest of the Jedi group to exactly sit still during the battle but he would be lying if he said he expected two Padawans to basically sprint, dodge and leap their way through the falling debris to launch physical attacks against the two Cultists. It caught him off guard for a second and he hesitated in actually launching another attack.

With Isen quite literally in batting range of The Warrior and Drastus spinning like a top in front of The Priest, Max wasn't able to see either of the Cultists in a way he could meaningfully effect them straight away.

Reaching out with the Force, he attempted to siphon some of the energy away from The Priest's retaliatory lightning attack but the Dark Side energy in the air dampened his attempt. More-so it backfired slightly, the saturation of the Dark Side seeping into the fingers of his right hand, making them feel slow and unresponsive.

Grabbing his saberstaff up, he focused on movement instead, breaking out into a sprint toward The Warrior. Isen was in a tight spot and he would probably need some immediate physical assistance against someone so clearly specialized in melee combat.

The warrior did well to block Isen's attack. Isen wasn't quite sure what to expect to be honest. It became quite evident that this cultist was well trained in the Force and was very adept at being a Dark Side user, perhaps on the level of being a Sith Lord. Isen had never fought this powerful or dark a combatant before, and it forced him to truly concentrate and trust in the Force. He could sense the anger and hatred this Dark Side Warrior had toward him. It was palpable, and Isen had to reflect back to all of the training that Izel Thral had provided for him.

As the cult warrior used both of his lightsabers against Isen's to push his momentum to the warrior's left, Isen's right, away from the Priest, the padawan deftly switched to his Ataru discipline and spinned with a corkscrew, using the force to spin further to the left than even the warrior had anticipated, but that was by design. Isen's corkscrew landing set him on his right foot and evenly and sure-footedly on his left in a strong attack stance.

He was now at the 5 o'clock of the warrior, behind and slightly to the left. The padawan would not settle for half-measures or trying to protect himself. He had excellent position on the Warrior and would try to deal a devastating blow. Isen charged the relative distance between them, using his left-handed lightsaber blade to slash hard at the shoulder and neck of the warrior. This would be but a distraction to draw both the warrior's eyes and at least one of his blades to block. The other cobalt blade would strike at the midsection with a hard, furious attack in attempt to dissect the cultist into two pieces at the waist.

Roll 1- Isen does quite well to use the warrior's deflection of his attack to get position on the cultist monster.
Roll 2 - Critical success on the counterattack.
Isen done blew this dude up

Whether it was by luck, the will of the old gods, the Force, rigged dice, a DMs love,or his unzipped fly, Drastus was in the schmoove. His initial attack was a rousing success, the hand was gone and he was taking the Priest to the School of Hard Knocks. The young man was just dripping with swaggoo.

That was until he saw that flicker of electricity. He could feel the heat and over a decade of training with his blade would come down to a single moment. His life would flash momentarily before his eyes, he'd see his friends, his lady love, his Masters, then he saw the ripped sleeve. He couldnt die. Not yet.

The priest must have thought he was something slick, that is until Drast's blade flicked back and caught the current, and with a flick of the blade would drive the electricity back towards the Priests hand, followed by a slash up towards the Priests neck. "Shouldn't have damaged by sleeve!"

Drow would be lying if he were to say things were going swimmingly for him. He had vastly overestimated the size of the rock he'd caught with the Force and shower of debris that had hit him as a result had slashed his body all over, surely adding more scars to a body that was already covered with them. His left foot was also almost certainly broken, he was very possibly dealing with a concussion and blood was seeping from a head wound into his eyes. Unconsciousness beckoned him forward like an old friend but he refused to heed its call. Knowing his injured foot wouldn't help his Makashi style very much, Drow remained in place, ignored his wounds, and let the Force flow through him. He snagged a jagged piece of broken rock, about the size of a person's head and hurled it straight towards the Priest's chest.

Dice roll is a 99. The Force Push is super duper effective.

So yeah Jago was indeed in the temple with the gathered Jedi and their reinforcements. He wasn't about to not finish this fight, as he assured the people of the towns nearby that he would put an end to these cultists and their threat. So there he stood..uh just behind the Jedi. He had to admit he felt a bit out of place here, but he wouldn't let it discourage him.

He was also happy to see that once again Master Max offered peace to the cultists, though wasn't surprised when they didn't back down. Though he felt the tongue rip was a bit much even by dark sider standards. Like really what was the guy going to do, get a prosthetic tongue? Jago could feel the power within the two defenders and he felt they were once again only here to slow them down. This ritual must be important indeed if they were throwing what were clearly their most powerful fighters against them now.

Which was only confirmed for him as the priest pulled down the entire freaking ceiling on the gathered forces of light and themselves! Jago was already ready for the pair of cultists to be the instigators of the battle, so as the chunks of plaster and stone came down his body instantly went into action. He moved to his right toward the warrior and spun, summersaulted and dodged his way through the falling debris. Every move just in time, some of the ceiling missed him by mere centimeters as he moved ever closer to his target.

As the dust cleared he saw Isen charge in at the warrior behind other Jedi's various ranged attacks on the pair. He smiled as the young padawan deftly maneuvered himself into position and Jago knew that was his time to strike. He dashed forward at full speed and leapt forward extending his right leg in a flying kick aimed directly at the warrior's head. The darksider would be hard pressed to avoid Jago's attack and counter Isen which was what Jago was counting on. He wanted to put the warrior down quickly as that one seemed to be the more dangerous of the pair before them.

So Jagos defense and attack rolls were both a success at 51 and 78. Figured that even though this is my first post, things had kicked off to a degree that I figured I'd just go ahead and make my rolls. Rolls here.
