Wedding Knight

Rejoice, Lords and Ladies! It's time for a wedding!

Two minor noble houses, at odds with each other for years, are about to be united through an alliance of marriage. Ser Kevan Manning, a young knight and scion of a house sworn to King Robert Baratheon, is to wed Sylvie Harte, the daughter of a rival house. While the somewhat naive Ser Kevan is already in love with the Lady Sylvie, she has other ideas about an arranged marriage to her family’s former enemies, and does not approach the altar a virgin as custom dictates she should. Indeed, she has secretly taken Ser Etan Hogg, a knight of her father’s household, as her lover, and seeks to be with him against her family’s wishes. The Lords of House Manning and House Harte have staked their fates on this arrangement, though each has their own designs and motivations. Tensions are high as the nuptials approach, and few can say for certain what the future holds...

Into this nest of vipers our heroes step, unwitting to the dangers lurking in the shadows.

-----------------------------
I'm totally revamping this to (hopefully) make it a better fit for more people. I'll be GMing a game loosely based on the Song of Ice and Fire tabletop RPG produced by Green Ronin. In it, players will create their own Noble House in the Game of Thrones universe, create characters who support this House in some way, and then thrust those characters into a world filled with romance, mystery, political intrigues, secret machinations, and occasionally really brutal violence.

No character is safe in this world, and you may find yourself having to re-roll a new character occasionally because you died an ignoble death. On the other hand, if you manage to survive long enough in this cruel and unforgiving game, you may find yourself Lord or Lady of your own Great House, a Knight or Ministrel of world renown, or a great and shadowy power broker of the Seven Kingdoms. Your House will rise or fall along with you, whether you take glory by force or squander your resources and reputation on petty foolishness.

The game will use some limited dice mechanics for House and Character building, and maybe the occasional skill checks, but the majority of the story will be by typical play-by-post. I have sourcebooks available for inspiration and lore, and I will be helping guide the whole creation process as well as running the Campaign.
Summary:
-build our own house
-violence that doesn’t play favorites with PCs
-political intrigue both inside and outside the party
-Murder, probably
-???
-profit

Hell yeah!

I revamped the pitch to give the whole thing a little more direction. I decided I'm going to go ahead and DM the whole thing. I have the Narrators Source books to guide me, so I think I can manage. I also have a whole nother standalone campaign book, so if this story goes well we can even expand and continue with the same House and characters we generate for this game.

I'd like to have at least one more player to start with, though we can always add more as we go.

Awesome! I'm going to set up a Lore page and link you guys to the source material. If anyone new wants to join absolutely feel free to post, but we definitely have enough people here now to start generating a House. Once the groundwork of the player House is created, you can all make characters to fit into it.

We'll use this thread as the main OOC and for any dice rolls we need to make.

To start out with, you guys can either collectively decide on a Realm to be a part of (the North, the Riverlands, Dorne, etc) or we can randomize it. We had a lot of fun doing that last time and just piecing together whatever the dice gave us.

Then, we need to roll 7d6, seven times. This will give us the starting values for the Houses Defenses (fortifications), Influence, Lands, Law (how wild or orderly the place is), its Population, your Power (the size of your Army), and your Wealth. Once we have those numbers we can piece it together however you guys want. High Power but low wealth? Maybe the Lord Invested all of the Houses wealth in years past to maintaining a standing Army, or sunk it all into a fleet of new warships. High Defense, but low Law? Maybe your House lacks the ability to control the savage lands outside of your formidable Castle. We can go ahead and start rolling now.

I’m putting new applications for this on hold. I’ll re-open it if it seems like we’ve got room for more as we get rolling.
