Ezra was on cloud nine since he received word that he had been accepted into Nubian Institute of Technology. It was one of the most prestigious engineering schools in the galaxy. While he wasn’t good enough to get into East Point like his Pops - and he didn’t bother applying -, he was pleasantly shocked to have gotten into NIT. This put him at a crossroad with his Jedi training. While he was a Jedi Knight, his progression towards Master would likely slow due to his focus on engineering and likely corporations. He always knew he would help the Order in his own way, even if that meant he wasn’t donning robes and waving his saber around.

He and Dash had discussed moving in together, but his acceptance gave them little choice except for Nubia. Dash had far more leeway on where he lived, whereas Ezra had to be close to campus. Today was Orientation Day, and Ezra was still not on speaking terms with his parents. As a result, neither were invited to come with him. He did, however, have Dash join him so they could explore here and then take in the local sights for any areas that looked appealing to move in.

The thought of moving in together made him both excited and nervous. It was a step he had never taken with anyone before, and it was a whole new level in their relationship. However, with coming on almost two years of being together, he wasn’t exactly too phased by it at this point.

Dash challenged him to dress down for this, and Ezra did his best. He stood out quite a bit amidst a sea of people wearing hoodies and sweatpants, but he seldom cared. The quarter Sephi already had people trying to crowd him, but thankfully campus staff prepared for this by keeping them at bay. He and Dash were led by a student giving them a pitch about the university, along with a group of new students walking ahead of them. All around there were people dressed as mascots, students handing out flyers for their clubs, and fraternities trying to advertise. And of course cute boys and girls trying to catch his eye. All of this was vastly different from his time in private school or the Jedi academy.

Ezra was hardly paying attention, naturally. His eyes were glued to his NalPhone as he walked, relying on Jedi reflexes and his ears to keep from running into anything.

NIT was a lot. The hustle and bustle of students reminded Dash a little of his senior year back on Rhinnal, but Ezra's new campus was huge by comparison and it was clear there was a lot more going off. Dash eagerly grabbed every flyer he could, soaking up all the activities and events, blue eyes sizing up and in some cases checking out the diverse faces going by. It did not hurt to look and fortunately Ezra was too absorbed in his Nalphone to notice.

While his boyfriend looked like he had just come from a business meeting, Dash bounced along in a low cut white tee and runic necklace. He could have fit in pretty well with the gangs of students chilling in the grounds or chatting shit in the breakout areas, but he knew he would never have got in to a place like this. Half the stuff on the walls made no sense to the Rhinnalian and he could only smile blankly at the fun engineering facts their guide kept tossing their way.

He was so proud of Ezra for getting accepted. The Thorne was obviously smarter than anyone Dash knew, but it was Ez's dream to study here and he had been worried about being turned down. Dash's own worries about being separated all the time again evaporated when they agreed he could just follow. Ezra would be here for a while, so there was no better place to move in together and the Rhinnalian was over the moon.

"So when are the midterm holidays again?" he asked. Once they were set up, he guessed he might get to see Ezra most days when he was not off with the Order. But his boyfriend's studies were going to add to his Jedi duties, maybe even replace a lot of them. It would be good to know when Ezra would be off for a few weeks and they could plan some proper trips away.

The spectacled girl leading them took them through a door into a massive, double-height room. It looked more industrial than academic, with sections seemingly given over to different types of weird and wonderful machine. Some students were working away, supervised by grown ups in corporate branded uniforms.

"This is one of our 'Brain Spaces'" the girl explained "you'll find yourself using these a lot for some of your practicals and project work. Which course are you enrolling on?" she looked eagerly at Ezra still head down on his phone, her green eyes flicking up and down him briefly and not for the first time. Dash contained a sigh and gave him a polite nudge. His boyfriend did everything to put people off, but he still drew them like a magnet.

“They overlap with the Jedi academy breaks,” Ezra said without taking his eyes off his NalPhone. That worked out because any padawans Dash would train would also go home for holidays. The Thorne was briefly distracted when he looked at the booths advertising the fraternities. Some were party ones, others were tailored towards engineering. Ezra was distracted when Dash nudged him, and he looked over to the girl that apparently asked him a question. She had to repeat herself before he shrugged vaguely, “Biochemical and neural network analysis, photovoltaic fundamentals-” He rattled off a series of courses that sounded more and more mechanical, “And a minor in political science.”

Ezra was finally in a place that would challenge him and he knew it. As they walked along, Dash would be asked several questions about what classes he was taking or what he was majoring in since he looked more the part of a student than Ezra did. The Thorne finally put his phone away when the tour ended. This left he and Dash to their own devices with the entire campus open to explore.

“So what do you think?” He asked his boyfriend, looking around at it all. It was almost overwhelming, and this was the first time he’d be somewhere without any supervision whatsoever. A part of him still felt a pang at not having his parents here, and for a moment he stared off at nothing. Ezra finally exhaled and looked back at Dash, “Well have the whole day. Anything you feel like checking out?”

"I think it all seems very you" Dash answered, after the guide had finally left them. "Which is a good thing right? They seem to be kitted out for the kind of stuff you're wanting to learn". The resources and teaching spaces certainly looked the business and the prospectuses Ezra had been showing Dash for weeks swore they were among the best. But the truth was, the Rhinnlian did not really know.

"I definitely like this spot" he ventured, loving how the university sat on the coast of one of Nubia's shallow seas, with coastal delights across the water and rolling planes back inland. There were even mountains in the far distance.

But Ezra was not asking about the scenery he knew and there was something wistful about the way his boyfriend was looking around. Even now, it was rare for Ez to look out of sorts and Dash picked up on it intuitively, stepping close to gently tug at the lapels of Ezra's coat.

"Are you sure you just want me here, baby? We could call them you know, if you like". Emryc and Jaikus once being Sith was still mindboggling, but it was not going away. Dash felt Ez was hurting from their separation, but he might hurt more from reunion. It was hard to know what to do.

There was plenty to look around if he really did not want to talk about it. They could take the boardwalk down the seafront, or there was some sort of clocktower on a hill covered in shiny panels. Dash even thought he could see a little town across the bay if he squinted, reachable by smart Nubian water taxi.

Ezra forgot his boyfriend could read him like a book when Dash asked about his parents while he was staring off into space. The Thorne shifted where he stood, a rigidness returning to his posture, “I don’t want to associate with Sith,” He said flatly, the words hurting him even as he said them, “Think about Berchest. About what happened to you, what happened to Ferrin…” He shook his head, That’s what my folks were. Would you be able to get past it?”

It wasn’t something they could solve today, but it was the first time Ezra actually gave voice to his thoughts. Dash had brought up his folks a few times, and Ezra knew it came from a good place, but he was still furious at his fathers. He exhaled and jutted his chin towards the boardwalk, always preferring paths that took him closer to water.

The town was alive with activity, little shops lining the boardwalk and live music playing all around. Ezra gave Dash a sideways glance, “Are you sure you want to live here?” He asked after a moment of silence, “It’s far from the Jedi and Rhinnal,” He reminded him. There was definitely a pang of guilt from Dash having to be the one to adapt to his living situation.

Dash messed with Ezra's lapel, like he might find answers in the fabric. "I don't know" he answered honestly. It was a difficult question and the truth was he did not know how he would feel if he saw Emryc and Jaikus again. But he could not imagine they had ever been quite so evil as the Sith on Berchest. "It sounds like it was a long time ago, maybe there is a lot we don't know".

Ez moved off towards the boardwalk and the Rhinnalian could tell he should leave the subject alone for now. Fortunately, his boyfriend's parents seemed to be giving them space too, so maybe they could skirt it just a little while longer. Dash followed down the boarded front, happy enough to enjoy some rare time alone together.

"Yes, it's exciting!" Dash replied. While he shared his own people's attachment to their icy world, he had left it in his teens and had never been afraid of new places. Jedi temples had been fine for a time, but the Order sucked when it came to actual decent accommodation. "You need to be here anyway" he said, adding "and I need to be where you are" in a somewhat quieter voice. He nudged Ezra playfully as they headed down the shore.

"But we're doing it properly baby" he gave his boyfriend a serious look "a real place of our own". Dash was hoping they could find something to suit them both, in a price bracket fitting for Ez's budget. He had just about got over his insecurity about his boyfriend's wealth and was ready to spend some credits. "Maybe somewhere not too far from all this" he suggested, pointing to the bars and restaurants along the front "but far enough out for a little privacy. We do like to do it everywhere..." he smiled like a cheshire cat, mainly to himself as he scanned the horizon for possibilities.

Ezra smirked as Dash remarked that they were doing this properly, “What, you don’t want me to stay in a frat house for a few years?” He couldn’t even joke about that without a grimace. The thought of living in a house with 40 boys and sharing bathrooms was enough to make his stomach turn. His ears twitched at the live music, the upbeat themes reminding him briefly on when he and Dash danced on the beach together. And he even asked to dance first!

“Trying to rile me up?” He asked his boyfriend as he remarked on doing it everywhere, “Its been a while, you know..” He reminded Dash, only going as far as entwining their fingers. His whole thing with public displays of affection was hard to kick, “I have to live somewhere on campus the first year, so we could probably get an apartment in the luxury complex over there,” He pointed a bit in the distance to what looked like a tall, fancy tower. Right away it was obvious it was made for the wealthy, “Maybe I’ll clear out the entire top floor so we can have our privacy,” He mused casually as if it was nothing.

Ezra jutted his chin towards a casual beachside bar and grill place. Of course, he only ordered a water after reading through the massive list of tropical alcoholic drinks. He looked deep in thought for a moment, drumming his fingers on the table in a way that Dash would recognize as something heavily weighing on him.

“So I’ve been thinking. I don’t know if I want to keep doing Jedi things…in the traditional sense,” Ezra said quietly as he looked at his boyfriend, “It’s just not me. I’m not like you, Leon, or even Ferrin. I don’t have that compulsion to just rush in and be the hero. But I do want to help the Order. I might just go about it a different way…” He paused to wait for his reaction, “I’ve been building prototypes for some products that I think would sell pretty well. I could have the proceeds go back to the Jedi,” It sounded great in his head, but it was definitely turning away from what he first signed up for with the Jedi.

Dash actually snorted. “You could never live in a frat house! Communal bathrooms, dozens of people using one kitchen?!“ He enjoyed watching Ez’s face scrunch up. ”I on the other hand….” he made a show of cocking his head in thought “I reckon I could be a frat president in no time”.

Ez holding his hand shut him up pretty quick. Dash knew how big such things were for his boyfriend, and by extension they were big for him. “Oh we’ll put that right…“ he said quietly, half considering how quickly they could follow through on that. There were some tunes on the air, but Dash was still to excited about finding their special place first.

A penthouse?“ he followed Ezra’s gaze, chewing his lip. Dash did like a view, but he had half been hoping to have space to practice his own talents, not that he had shared that thought. An apartment might not be ideal, but there were upsides.

They ended up in a cute beach side bar and grill, which Dash was excited for. He was trying to watch the calories but he had always had a soft spot for the kind of southern friend chicken they did in such places. The Rhinnalian zoned in on his boyfriend’s drumming fingers pretty quickly, intrigued to find out what was weighing him down.

The answer was a little surprising. “Oh…..“ Dash was a little rocked, at least initially. He and Ezra had crossed paths long before Ez became a Jedi too, but all the same the Rhinnalian now realised it had been so long now he had just assumed they would always be in the same club. “I guess I’ve never thought of it like that." Dash did have a decent compass for right and wrong, but he was no paragon of virtue himself. He was flattered if Ez saw him that way though.

The idea of his boyfriend changing direction made him a little anxious, but more than anything Dash just wanted Ezra to be happy. ”I think the Order is important” he offered, fairly sure of that at least “and if you ask me you make an awesome Jedi baby". Ezra was a natural leader and had stood up to the Sith on Berchest without hesitating. Dash was also one of the few who had witnessed just how strong he was in the Force up close. "But if you don't feel like the typical Jedi stuff is for you then I get that. I guess there are other ways to help like you say, and I know anything you turn your mind to will be a raging success".

Dash had caught sight of one or two of his boyfriend's little projects, but Ezra had typically given no indication just how important they were. "Go on then, what sort of things?". Ez was a nerd, but not in the babbling hairbrained way. Dash knew whatever products he had in mind would likely be nifty and slick.

Ezra had to scoff at Dash suggesting that he was a great Jedi, “Really? Because I’d rather live on Hoth than take on a padawan,” He stated flatly. The thought of teaching an irritating young padawan grated on his nerves. That and the ways Jedi constantly put themselves in harm’s way for others was just something he could never get onboard with. It was something he despised in Dash because his boyfriend was that type. Ezra knew he would resent anyone Dash helped at the cost of his own wellbeing. It was just not very Jedi of him, but he didn’t care.

The Thorne was caught off guard when Dash asked about his prototypes. He looked around for a moment before reaching into his bag. He tossed over some earbuds that looked very crude and janky in appearance, “It’s just a prototype, so it’s not sexy yet,” Ezra explained, motioning for Dash to put them on. In his hand, Ezra had a datapad. He was still working on creating an app, but for now he operated things through his datapad.

Once Dash put the earbuds on, Ezra tuned the radius so it would pick up on conversation that a few people were having one table over. They were two twi’leks conversing in their native tongue. Dash would rapidly hear the translated dialogue in almost near real time.

“-And doesn’t that guy look like the president’s son? He’s gotta be related to him.”

“Wasn’t he dating that blond guy?! Oh my gosh is it them?”

“Shit one of them is looking over!”

“Who cares? They don’t understand what we’re saying as long as we don’t name drop and stare. So stop staring, idiot."

Ezra remained blissfully oblivious, staring at Dash for his feedback.

Dash knew how much Ezra hated the cold, so he got his meaning loud and clear. He did struggle to imagine his boyfriend mentoring a padawan; Ez had far too little patience and far too many rough edges.

The Rhinnalian snatched up the crude earbuds, intrigued. "Oooh, Ezra gadgets". He slipped them in as suggested, sitting up and waiting eagerly for something to happen. The Twi'lek women's voices came into earshot loud and clear. It was no longer the native babble he had been vaguely aware of in the background, but a crystal clear translation of their every word.

"Wow" Dash mouthed, his attention then diverted by what the women were saying. He reddened at being recognised, particularly by the kind of girls that likely read the magazines. The tabloids had not always been kind about he and Ezra, or in particular the motives of Rhinnalian drop-out for pursuing one of the richest young men in the galaxy.

"Oh these work alright" Dash said quietly, jutting his head towards the girls. "I can hear everything perfectly and its all translated - do they do every language?". He tended to reach for the Force to solve problems but he knew of no way to translate speech. "These things could be pretty useful on missions" he handed them back to Ez "they just need to come with an ego warning for public places". He gave his boyfriend a flavour of the girl's conversation.

"You're so smart you know Ez" he stroked the Thorne's wrist briefly "knocking up stuff like this all on your own. I need to learn to make bigger ice stuff to keep up". The memory of the ice arch above their poolside tryst on Mon Cala briefly gave him the flutters. "How you will you make loads, won't you need help?".

Ezra was internally ecstatic about Dash’s feedback. He was hardly concerned by the overheard conversation, “I’d be disappointed if they weren’t talking about us,” He responded dryly. He expected far more of his name and face to be splashed across Holonet if his company kicked off. When Dash remarked that he was smart, however, his ears turned a shade of pink. For all the compliments he always received from people about his appearance, ones about his mind always hit harder. Especially when they came from the man he loved.

“Uh well..” He paused at the question. It was a pain point he hadn’t addressed just yet, “I’m scouting out different manufacturing plants. I just have to vet all the workers. If things kick off, I may even have to drop out of uni,” He shrugged vaguely. It was common for any student with a corporate success story to drop out of education.

“Are you sure about all of it?” He asked after a moment of silence, “Being a Jedi? I wonder why I never felt that sense of commitment..” He trailed off after that. Was he a failed Jedi? Was Zathria going to consider him her mistake?

Dash flashed Ezra a sultry look. When they had first met, Ez had been largely resentful of attention whether from the press or onlookers. But he seemed a little less self conscious about his fame and brilliance these days, and Dash loved it. "I guess we are hot stuff" he said, biting his tongue.

The Rhinnalian did not miss those pink ears, or the way Ezra kept coming with his words. Dash must have said the right thing. The idea of his boyfriend maybe dropping out so soon after barely beginning made his brow crease, but he supposed it made sense if it all took off. As good as the earbuds were, it was hard to visualise just yet, but then he knew what Ezra was capable of.

Dash did not quite expect the question to be turned on him. "Not completely sure, no". It was the truth. "I went to the Jedi because I didn't know where else to go. It's worked out pretty well so far". He paused, trying to weigh it all clearly. "But I'm not sure about just being some do-gooder. After Ithor, I feel like it's painting a target on my back. I'm worried it's gonna attract some bad shit our way Ez, but I also feel like being a Jedi is the only way I can become strong enough to protect us". It tumbled out, but surprisingly coherently.

“Ithor is exactly why I want to do what I’m planning,” Ezra explained, “Historically Jedi keep relying on just themselves to combat enemies beyond what they can handle. They don’t look at getting resources and just plain arming themselves beyond just their own lightsabers,” He simply didn’t think about things the same way. Perhaps it came with being a Thorne where anything in the galaxy seemed possible.

He extended a hand to grasp Dash’s, fighting past the compulsion to avoid PDA at all costs. Ezra met his boyfriend’s gaze, We will be strong enough to protect us,” He reminded Dash.

—

It was a week later when it was actually move in day. The top floor of the luxury apartments was bought out to make room for the two of them. There was a bit of bickering before Ezra finally agreed to let Dash pay for part of the rent. The two had to dress down a bit to avoid scrutiny from the press like Ezra’s first day on Ithor. For Ezra, this meant committing fashion crimes and wearing baggier clothing and hats with sunglasses.

Eventually his countless material items were being moved in, though he still didn’t invite his parents. Droids were moving several boxes in before Ezra paused at the door. He opened a box that had a bracelet in it, and he knew right away it was from his dad (@Altaris). Emotions welled up in his chest, and he stood in silence like a statue in the middle of the hallway just silently staring at this gold chain.

As usual, what Ezra was saying seemed to make a lot sense, especially because he set it out so black and white. When the Jedi Order did not tool itself up like their enemies, was it any wonder they kept taking hits?

Dash knew it was not generally the Jedi way of course, to claim territory, technology and weapons for themselves. The whole Code was based on a hope that none of that would be needed in the end. But Dash agreed with Ezra; things had to change. They had both seen the danger they faced up close and in the flesh and the Order needed to more assertive and creative. Maybe Ez had the way to do that.

He smiled, realising he should have known better than to even suggest he was the one looking after Ezra. "We will" he agreed, with real fervor. Ez was right, they were a team, now and always.

_____

It was a penthouse in the end. Dash had tried a few alternatives, including a farm in the hills and an old ruined lighthouse, but Ezra had found several things wrong with all of them. There was also no escaping the modern bliss of an entire top floor to themselves, with most things already done and all the modcons they would need to fuse together their busy lives.

Dash bounced between the piles of boxes in a casual two-piece fit for an active day. Lifting and carrying was not exactly his skill set, but he had plenty of ideas on where things should go to look just right and badgered the droids mercilessly. The Rhinnalian was not sure he could live with the way they had been programmed to call him Mr Pavan, but they could change that later. Nothing could dent his excitement at moving in with Ezra.

His boyfriend was focused on more technical stuff as always, though he had assured Dash the legals were all sorted and he had finally agreed to let him pay towards the rent. To Ez, it was a finance thing and there was little point, but to Dash it was a pride thing and he had so much of that it was easy to wound it.

Dash was supervising the placement of his ice skates and an absurdly large mirror when he noticed Ezra stood all funny in the hallway. He had seen the Thorne look like he had run out of power before, but he was stood like a statute, intently focused on a small box in his hand.

"What it is baby?" he asked, sidling over to look, spying a pretty gold chain.

It took a moment for him to get anchored back to reality. He had floated away for a while and Dash grabbed onto the kite string to give it a sharp yank. Ezra exhaled and looked back at his boyfriend, putting the bracelet back in the box, “It’s from my dad,” He said quietly. He didn’t say anything else, but he didn’t need to. The pain was recognizable in his voice. Dash knew what it was like being with Ezra - the Thorne never shouted or yelled, never blew up. He withdrew into his own head when he hurt and he ran in the opposite direction. He was doing that to his family and it tore at him more than he would ever convey. Dash watched a tragedy playing out before him in real time, and all without Ezra saying a thing.

The Jedi cleared his throat, putting the box away safely, but in a place he wouldn’t reach for anytime soon. He busied himself with the moving process, declaring where everything needed to go. Ezra had to have a designated ‘tech cave’ to do all his work. It was a dedicated space just for him filled with gadgets and places to allow him tinkering opportunities. There were also terminals with multiple screens. Once he bought more facilities for his corporation, he would go somewhere else in person.

After a few hours passed, the process was done. Several droids were working on unpacking, but the moving in was done. Their bedroom was one of the first things already set up and Ezra made his way over to admire his new dwelling. He was exhausted from all the bossing around he had to do all day, but also he was still processing the idea that he was living with Dash. Living entirely on his own. The Jedi temple had felt like an extension of living at home - always with supervision and with rules.

Ezra grabbed Dash by the wrist and collapsed back on the bed, dragging him down with. He gazed up at the ceiling, his thoughts far away for a moment. They had gone through a journey to get Starlight Beacon up and running, and now they weren’t even going to live on it.

“Our place..” He mused aloud, “Can you believe it?”

Dash opened his mouth to speak but slowly closed it again. Ezra and his dad still were not talking, so the bracelet was obviously a complete surprise. It briefly occurred to the Rhinnalian that it was also proof that Emryc and Jaikus knew where they were moving into, but he knew he should not be surprised by their resources anymore.

Ezra was visibly shaken by the thing, though it did not look like there was a note or anything with it. Dash supposed it had to have some meaning, but he was empathetic enough to know now was not the time to ask. He just held Ez gently and when he was ready they went back to the moving operation, though Dash found excuses to check on Ezra periodically.

The penthouse itself was well chosen and well designed and they found places for most of their stuff. Ez had his own bugeoning 'man cave' for gadgets and gizmos and, while Dash did not have his own special space just yet, he could see a few potentials. The walk in wardrobe was crying out for regular use and there was access up to a large roof terrace where he suspected he could practice all things ice.

When things settled, he found Ezra in their sleek bedroom and they collapsed on the bed together.

"Sort of" he answered "but I still think about two guys snapping at each other on Kashyyyk and then it really does seem like a miracle...". The memory of their first meeting amidst chaos and danger still made Dash smile.

He entwined fingers with Ezra, rolling onto his side to look at his boyfriend. He wondered if the mysterious bracelet was still on his mind, but he was in no rush to cast any more shadows. "We should have a housewarming".

The memory of Kashyyyk brought a grin to his face, “I still have those Trando boots you loved so much,” He quipped back, turning his head to look at Dash. He was the same handsome Jedi Ezra spotted that first day, but slightly less boyish. That fateful day felt like an eternity ago - the day he met his best friend, his master, and his love all in one setting. Memories of their bickering or the pure chaos with the Salalamami warriors still amused him.

Ezra tugged Dash and hoisted him up, spinning on his back so his boyfriend straddled him. He gazed up at the Rhinnalian, the hint of a smile immediately disappearing at his suggestion, “Housewarming? Like…people?” He asked, distaste clearly bleeding into his tone. He wondered how they would manage living together with their very different social habits. He imagined he would spend many evenings hiding out in the Ez Cave while Dash happily entertained guests. Ezra didn’t even notice the stark parallels he shared with his Pops sometimes. Emryc always conveniently vanished five minutes into any social functions at their manor.

The Thorne lazily traced his hands back and forth along Dash’s thighs, looking up at him, “You know we will have to compromise on the temperature, right? I’m not living in an ice box,” Ezra’s preferred temperature felt like an oven to Dash and likewise Dash seemingly liked to live in the tundra.

"You do not!" Dash shoved Ezra halfheartedly, dismayed that those damn boots were still around somewhere. He wondered if he dared 'tidy them away' to somewhere when Ez was out.

Dash let himself be pulled up atop his boyfriend, feeling a familiar prickle of excitement at Ezra's hands on his bare thighs. He kept it in check easier than he once did though, for now at least. It took a while, but eventually you learned you got absolutely nothing done if you just ravished each other all the time.

"You love people" the Rhinnalian teased, gently tracing Ezra's jaw as if he might nudge that stony face back into a smile. "It doesn't have to be loads of people anyway, maybe just our favorites?". He shrugged, pretty sure they could agree on who they were. "Don't you want to show it off a bit?". He knew the answer of course, Ezra was not one for flaunting anything despite his wealth. Dash on the other hand....

The jibe about the temperature put the steel back in his gaze. "I read the brochure, every room has its own micro-climate, so you can have it tropical in your little tech cave. If you go turning it up everywhere don't start moaning when I have to bounce around naked". Ezra knew him well enough to know he was not kidding.

Ezra scoffed at Dash’s reaction about the boots, “Please, you still have that atrocious sweater,” He quipped back, though it was lighthearted. He didn’t care about those boots nearly as much as how much Dash cherished his Rhinnalian wool sweater.

Dash’s gentle tracing against his jaw did not, in fact, bring a smile back. The prospect of having people meandering about in his penthouse sounded incredibly unpleasant. He could picture Leon and Ferrin here, but little outside of that. He had friends from private school, but even then he didn’t want them nosing about in the space he and Dash shared.

“Brochure?” Ezra asked, amusement bleeding into his tone. He had blindly dropped the crowns for the place without too much fuss, but evidently Dash had done actual research on it. A grin tugged at his lips at Dash’s suggestion. It sounded like a perfect compromise to him, “Oh, it may be too hot in here for you after all,” He said as his hands traveled up from Dash’s thighs to his sides to casually tug his shirt up and over his head. Ezra could never get enough of his boyfriend’s perfectly chiseled physique, and for once they didn’t have to coordinate anything with their respective roommates for any time alone. It only took about two years for them to get here.

“You don’t get to prance around teasing me anymore,” He said with a smirk, “I’ll have you whenever I want now,” Ezra recalled all the times his boyfriend purposely tormented him on missions or in public places knowing full well the Thorne wouldn’t budge or act on desires in public.

It’s not atrocious!” Dash insisted. They had different styles it was true, but Dash was no pauper and everything in his wardrobe was high-end, at least in his part of the galaxy.

Ezra did not seem reassured at the thought of having people over, remaining stony faced. When his features did start to soften, Dash saw the different look in his eye even before his vest got yanked over his head. He sat proudly on top of Ezra’s hips, giving the Thorne a grin that said ‘well look what you’ve done now’.

If I want to prance” he said, with mock seriousness “then I will prance”. He leaned down, gently easing Ezra’s hoodie off his broad shoulders. He still remembered when his man had been a little scrawny, but these days Ez nothing of the sort. Dash himself still kept in shape, but he knew he was changing too. They were not the boys they had been.

Never mind what you want” he said, drawing close “you think I’m leaving you in your tech cave for hours on end? No way I can have you that close without popping in to swizzle your chair round and…say hi”. He planted a kiss on Ezra’s lips, a single slow affectionate one that lasted a good long moment.

You know we have so much to do…” he trailed off, his nose almost close enough to brush Ezra’s own. His boyfriend was still gorgeous up close, the Rhinnalian didn’t know how he did it.
