DESCRIPTION
The Acclamator-class troopship is a heavy assault transport which was originally developed manufactured by Rothana Heavy Engineering - a subsidiary of Kuat Drive Yards - for the clone army produced by the Kaminoans and sold to the Galactic Republic. Although the mighty Venator-class star destroyer was to be the main-line warship of the Grand Army of the Republic, it and the Acclamator were the direct ancestors of the later Imperial-series star destroyers of the First Galactic Empire. While the Venator dealt with the Separatist fleet, however, the Acclamator served the backbone of planetary landing operations, allowing the Republic to take the fight to the CIS during the Clone Wars.

Although the Acclamator is dwarfed by some of its contemporaries in the Republic Navy, the ship is a giant in its own right, 752 meters in length, 460 meters in width and 183 meters in height, from the bottom of its keel to the tip of its elevated command bridge. Although not considered a main-line warship, the Acclamator still bristles with firepower, mounting 12 quad light turbolaser cannons, 24 dual light point-defense laser cannons and 4 proton torpedo tubes; in a pinch, it can go toe-to-toe with enemy capital ships, and often did during heavily contested landing operations. The Acclamator can also carry up to 120 starfighters in its cavernous hangar bay, in addition to shuttles, heavy ground vehicles and repulsorcraft to support planetary invasions. Up to 16,000 troops and support personnel can also be carried, plus 11,250 tons of bulk cargo and consumables for up to 2 years in space.

The Acclamator was used by the Republic throughout the Clone Wars, starting on the very first day of the conflict at the Battle of Geonosis, all the way through to the destruction of the Separatist Council on the last. During the war, it acquitted itself well, and was retained in inventory by the Galactic Empire, albeit in reduced numbers; with an emphasis on holding down conquered territory rather than massive, contested planetary assaults, the type was not as commonly used in its intended role, being mostly relegated to duties more commonly filled by conventional capital ships. Many served during the Galactic Civil War in rear-echelon roles within the Imperial Navy, although the Rebel Alliance managed to get hold of a few of their own as well.

The surviving Acclamator-class troopships were largely scrapped or mothballed by the New Republic, although a few have survived into the present day. As the Galaxy once again marches to war, however, many Acclamators have begun to be pulled back out of storage.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Acclamator-class troopships are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
To bring a vessel from canon into our site's fanon.

RESTRICTIONS
Acclamator-class troopships are large capital ships with heavy weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. They may be acquired as a faction asset with staff oversight.
