I agree wholeheartedly with that. I'm almost done with Aftermath. It's by no means a bad book, but there are just some stylistic things that rub me the wrong way. Some of the dialogue "meh", but it wasn't as long-winded or contrived as Heir to the Jedi. The use of parentheses in a third-person narrative seemed unnecessary, especially when there is internal dialogue within the internal dialogue, within the parentheses.
So in general, only small stylistic gripes. Dark Disciple is probably my favorite of the new books, simply because at how quickly it had me turning pages. Out of them all, it was the most fun to read. Granted, I have not yet cracked open Tarkin or Lords of the Sith yet, so my point of view is not complete.
EDIT:
Finally had enough time to sit down a finish Aftermath. Part of me feels that the Epilogue is really the only thing that leads up to The Force Awakens in the whole book.
