I need to consolidate the area I control and secure its borders, she said, though she didn't actually expand on what that meant. It was a topic she didn't want truly getting out until she had put her plan into motion. Her work was never done.

As their victim approached, Arla had a very familiar feeling of being the hunter and waiting for her prey to be lured into a trap. The trap had been laid and now all she needed was for her hunting partner to do her part of the job. Like a rat in a trap.

As Celeste knocked him unconscious, Arla once again kept watch, making sure no one was looking as she grabbed him with the Shadow and quickly moved him down into the water. It was somewhere between a gentle lowering and a toss into the river, but she never released her grip on him. She held him there, counting by in her head as the seconds ticked on.

She held his body there until she was certain there was no chance he could be alive, lungs filled with water, and she felt that familiar sensation of dark current as the Fanged Spirit's power passed by them. Then, and only then, did she release her grip and let the lazy current carry his body downriver.

As she rendered the man unconscious, there was no fright nor dread in the atmosphere. Instead, everything seemed rather calm and the wind quietly rustled in the leaves as the soft breeze of cool night air swept across the tranquil scenery.

The body collapsed almost lifelessly as he drifted into the realm of the unconscious and apart from the subtle 'thud', there were only a few birds whistling in the distance. With her part fulfilled, she switched over into observation mode and attentively watched their surroundings as Arla took over.

As the man was unconscious, he wasn't even struggling. With all senses dulled, there was nothing the man could do. He couldn't even show a last attempt of resistance as he was being drowned by her companion.

Celeste's gazed traveled across the empty surroundings, carefully scanning for something alive, but there was literally no motion in sight. Were his guards not suspicious? Well, better for them.

Just a few momemts later the lifeless body starting wandering downstream with the river's flow and Celeste's gaze landed back on the Champion. The chill in the air had intensified, but the familiarity of thus feeling was almost soothing. "Seems like now we have to wait for anyone to notice" she remarked. There work for today was done. Now it was about this potential successor and his compliance.
