She saw it happen. She saw the bridge of the Aurora implode from an inexplicable Imperial attack. She had been on one of the Marauder class frigates when Valen died. She had felt his death as if he had been standing next to her. Her heart had ripped in two. The Force had wept as tears cascaded down her face. Master Alara Skyell had known Grand Master Pelora since he had awkwardly ascended to General. He had been ill suited for the title when it was bestowed upon him. He had grown to embodied everything the Jedi had stood for. She had served with him at nearly every battle, at every turn. She had become a skilled Jedi Master in her own right as he became Grand Master.

Her life had flashed before her eyes when Valen had died. Her own mortality blinding her mind. Alara’s life had never been simple. She was born to Hapan nobility. A princess who had never belonged. The bloodthirsty politics of the Consortium disgusted her from a young age. She was raised at Court all the same. She was taught the terrible ways of her people. She was taught to navigate the incredibly dangerous life at Court. She survived but was a constant disappointment. She never fit in with her ambitious fellows.

She was rescued from Hapes at the age of 8. Her family was thrilled. As an eldest daughter she was expected to climb the political ladder. Her younger sister was much better suited to the task. The Skyell family happily handed young Alara over to the Jedi that found her. She was whisked to Tython to begin her training. She was a natural. The Force sung strongly through her and she was born to wield a blade. The scholarly pursuits were more difficult for young Alara but she learned in time. When she was ten she began dying her hair brunette. Her platinum blonde hair was a constant distraction. She did not want to be a Princess, she wanted to be a Jedi.

At 16, Master Thelas Worel chose her as his Padawan. The kindly Bothan was one of the Order’s most skilled swordsmen. The next 19 years of her life were a whirlwind. Alara passed the trials when she was twenty, a smiling Master Voren cheering her on. When the Sith attack she hurled herself into the war. She fought the Sith at each and every turn. When the Republic collapsed, Alara clawed to keep the Jedi from failing. She gave her soul to the Jedi. She gave her heart to the war. She rose to the rank of Master but refused a seat on the Council. She would not be chained to a chair. She had never liked the rank of General. It felt wrong, not like the Jedi. She did not stop commanding the forces of the Order. Those close to her affectionately called her Princess. Tales of her ferocity and beauty spread across the galaxy. She could not claim the renowned of the Grand Master, the two General Vis, or the Council members, but she struck fear into more than one Sith.

Alara has returned to Jedha after Valen’s death. A single message awaited her. Valen wished her to take his place, to finish what he had started. In his heart, he had never been a crusader. He had become what the Order needed, but his soul was always the healer. She was not. She was a fighter. She was a warrior. She would avenge her friends death and she would finish what he had begun.

Alara has been described as many things. Her defining feature is caustic wit. It earned her many a side-eyed reproach from her Master as a youth, and it has made her a favorite on the battlefield with her soldiers. She does not deal well with those she considers to be foolish. Alara has been called more than a few unfortunate names behind her back. Her love for the Jedi Order and devotion to the Light are unmatched. She has never wavered from his convictions. The Darkside is a sickness that must be removed from the galaxy. Alara does not believe in redemption. A Sith has only one choice, surrender and submit. She does not show mercy on the battlefield. She is loyal to her fellow Jedi to a fault. Her compassion, and warmth, can be felt by those close to her and those in need. She does everything for the innocent and good of the galaxy. With the death of Valen she has a singular goal. Bring down the Empire.
