BIOGRAPHY
Born on the frigid planet of Vandor, Algus studied as a Padawan Learner at age 8 under the guidance of Master Silla, an aging human Jedi Master posted in Fort Ypso. A friend of Algus’ father, a simple tinkerer who assisted in droid maintenance in the village, Algus’ force sensitivity was discovered at a young age, allowing him the chance to be trained while still a child. With a single parent who struggled to financially support his son, Algus’ father took heart in the concept that perhaps his son’s life could be led to greater places than the snow covered metal of Fort Ypso’s dilapidated buildings; Master Silla concurred.
Informal, Algus’ training involved basic concepts of Jedi philosophy inspired by the legendary Rey Skywalker, lightsaber combat and basic techniques on how to use the force, not only in practicality but also in the mentality a Jedi should have regarding to self-control and selflessness. Algus performed amicably, even as the training increased in rigor and after many years, he found himself proclaimed a Jedi Knight by Master Silla. What ensued beyond would be up to him. His father couldn’t be prouder; he knew though that the calling of a Jedi would take him far away from Fort Ypso and the evening of Algus’ knighting was shrouded in Melancholy.
Master Silla, content in his old age and place at Fort Ypso would decline to lead Algus any further and never having a chance to officially perform The Gathering, he would gift Algus his lightsaber as a memory of himself, his snow-covered home, and as a guide. Master Silla knew he'd never leave Fort Ypso, his time soon coming to an end; it was a reminder that no matter what tribulations he would face as a Jedi, that he was to be indomitable and incorruptible. Standing near his father, he mouthed a simple goodbye.
Soon after, and with a slight wave, Algus boarded a shuttle, leaving Fort Ypso behind.
Without a destination in sight, Algus wandered through space as dust in the wind, traveling from planet to planet with the belief that The Force would guide his path. Eventually, he was led to the Jedi temple on Ajan Kloss, a hidden place of learning where the Jedi could study and train in seclusion. Upon arriving, he was besieged by a vision that “stung his psyche like red-hot nails” and in religious sentiment, he distanced himself from the temple, opting instead to venture far into the wilds of the Klosslands seeking spiritual guidance.
Surviving in the harsh jungle in absolute isolation, Algus soon found himself becoming increasingly reliant on self conjured mysticism in regard to his belief in The Force. Malnourished and hardened, he would live within his own head for over a year, growing increasingly dismal and melancholic in disposition. Unbeknownst to him, the temple on Ajan Kloss had been besieged by Dark Jedi and his presence in The Klosslands had slowly been subjecting his spirit to Dark Side forces, slowly corrupting him in the process and leaving him vulnerable to primal temptations.
Drawn to the temple once more and without answers in his quest for spiritual guidance, he returned to the temple disheartened, only to find it destroyed. Confused and without answers, he remained within the dilapidated ruins in wrathful meditation, believing its mysterious destruction to be the pinnacle point of his quest. In reality, it had been destroyed by The Sith prior to his return. Eventually, a group of Jedi would return to the temple and draw the attention of the Sith on arrival, forcing a great battle to ensue.
Although corrupted, Algus fought beside the Jedi with an eroded soul, yet found himself swiftly defeated. A Jedi shuttle had been engaged by a Sith ship, resulting in its explosion and with it, Algus’ legs, rendering him incapacitated. In this pivotal moment, a former Jedi recognized as Master Oren was seen amongst the returning Jedi, yet he had refused to fight along their side.
In desperate rage and with an overwhelming sese of betrayal, Algus’ deteriorated spirit finally broke. Renouncing the Jedi, his life was spared by the Sith Lord Darth Raze. Retrofitted with prosthetics by The Sith, he regained his mobility in the form of thin mechanical limbs. A fallen Jedi, he now finds himself in the service of The Sith Eternal, awaiting his fate.
PERSONALITY
Elegiac and somber, Algus maintains a cold demeanor that is at conflict with his feelings. In truth, he feels ill prepared for the vastness of the galaxy and what his role within it may be. Although well-trained, his somewhat isolative upbringing makes him leery of other individuals. As time has passed, his wistful nature eventually gave way to cultic beliefs and a tendency for mysticism in lieu of rational thought. Slowly feeling less in control of his destiny, he believes he is being moved as a pawn by higher powers.
ABILITIES
Trained in basic Jedi abilities for almost twenty years, Algus is adept in Force Telekinesis, Force Deflection and Force Sense and has minor experience in basic mental manipulation; extending to lightsaber use, he has specialized in Form VI, preferring a balanced style of combat over all else. In practicality and innate abilities, Algus was prepared in basic survival techniques by his master to aid him on his potential journeys.
ITEMS
Broken Lightsaber: Algus wields the lightsaber of his former master, given to him before leaving Fort Ypso. Although not his own, it’s kyber crystal glows a pale orange. At the Battle of Ajan Kloss, its cystal was destroyed, rendering the blade unfunctional.
