Paul stood quietly as he observed the exchange of dialogue between Naomi and her uncle. They were quite the heartwarming family, which reminded him of his own, which he had left behind on Corellia. Of course, his father wasn't with them, but he would have been proud of the man Paul had become. If only they hadn't been on Hoth for so long, maybe things would have turned out different. Still, he couldn't change the past, and he wouldn't, there was no need to.

Paul focused back towards the duo as he watched Naomi walk behind the privacy screen once more. It was about time she changed out of that armor, it seemed like it had been on her for an eternity. With a slight chuckle, Paul turned towards Sheng, as the feline asked the first question. His facial expression remained neutral as he spoke.

"I'm with no order, sir. Everything I've learned has mostly been by me, and with the teachings of my former master."

A slight smile appeared on his face, as he extended his hand out towards the feline.

"I've mostly been training on my own, since my former master disappeared. I'm not sure if Naomi has told you, but I'm Paul Zeku. A pleasure to meet you sir."

Aside from the smile, he stayed relatively calm, though there was a bit of uncertainty as he said 'sir'. In truth, Paul wasn't sure if he should call the man Sheng or sir, so he went with the latter. It was quite odd saying that he wasn't trained by an order, since it made him feel like an outcast; not to mention, it probably would raise questions as to who was his former master. Still, there was no point in lying to a Jedi; they'd find the truth out anyways.

Weisheng firmly shook Paul's hand. "Pleasure to meet you, Paul. I'm Weisheng Winters, Master of the Jedi Order," he replied. The feline folded his arms across his chest and his brow furrowed in thought. "I'll admit, I find you a bit odd; I've never met a Rogue your age, and it's odd that your Master's order never finished your training if he did not... Unless he too was a rogue, which'd explain a fair bit. I'm impressed though, for a padawan, you seem very much so in control of yourself. That's an admirable trait."

The feline's pensiveness disappeared and a warm smile overtook his features. "Anyways, that's not important right at this moment. Naomi's been talking our ears off about you - all glowing praise, don't worry! It seems you did quite a bit to help get her off whatever ship you two were aboard. For that, I'm grateful, and I'm certain her mother will be grateful as well."

He pulled over a chair using the Force and settled into it. The feline made himself comfortable and gestured towards another chair, indicating that Paul should feel free to do the same. "That aside, I am curious; who was your Master, and what became of him? You don't have to answer - the loss of a master can be... Painful. I'll understand if you'd prefer not to answer."

(ooc: sorry for the wait, I've been studying for exams.)

Paul's eyes widened slightly as Weisheng stated that he was the master of the Jedi order. He had expected the man to be of high status, but 'master of the order' was definitely not something he expected. His former master had thought him a bit about the ranks of the Jedi, and he dug up some information during his spare time. His expression returned to normal, as he gave the master a faint smile.

"Thank you, sir."

He responded to the compliment. Paul couldn't help but smile as he heard Weisheng speak about their escape from the ship, and really, he was just happy they were all fine and in good health. "Still...that short burst of anger I felt was bad, I need to get stronger...so i don't get my emotions involve." Paul thought as he let Weisheng continue speaking. If they had delayed for even a second on that ship, this conversation wouldn't be happening. His attention focused back towards Master Weisheng as the feline pulled a chair using the force, and motioned for Paul to do the same.

Paul nodded as he reached out into the force and pulled the other chair to him. It was a fairly simple task, but it made life just that much easier to handle. With a heavy sigh, Paul looked towards Weisheng, a calm expression on his face.

"My master...she...was kidnapped back on Correlia. Her name was Chleria; she used to be a member of the Jedi Order, though I have no idea why she became an exile."

As he spoke, his left hand lightly touched the lightsaber on his right side. That was her old lightsaber, though only he knew that, and as far as he knew, nobody else he'd met knew what her lightsaber looked like. It was his reminder that one day he'd find her and rescue her, though for the moment, he had to get stronger.

"Since that day I've been on my own, and now I've managed to end up here."

He chuckled a bit as he finished his sentence.

"Master Weisheng, I know this may be too much to ask, but is there any way I could get inside the Jedi archives? I'd like to improve myself as much as possible, at least, to grow stronger within the force."

[Sorry for my own delay, I've been swamped with shtuffs. x_x]

"I'm sorry Paul, but the Archives aren't open to the general public. The knowledge in our databases, while infinitely useful to the Order, could prove dangerous to others. Perhaps not to the Order itself, but certainly dangerous to the individual armed with that knowledge."

Sheng's ears lowered as he spoke - he didn't like turning down Paul's request. The teen seemed sincere enough in his desire to grow stronger in the Force, and he could sense no ill will in Paul. He seemed exceptionally calm and controlled for a boy his age, save for a few emotional spikes here and there, but that was to be expected of any Jedi. The Master even empathized with Paul's situation; were he in the teen's shoes, he'd do everything in his power to become strong enough to seek out his master and rescue her.

Despite that, there was nothing he could do. The teen was, in the simplest of terms, a Rogue. Paul was a Force User without an Order. The boy was calm for now, but Sheng didn't know him. What would he do if armed with knowledge that allowed him to tap into his emotions to fuel himself? Would he use that sort of power to rescue his teacher, and in the process, risk falling to the Dark Side? Would he corrupt himself and fall without helping anyone? There were a thousand questions Sheng had, the answers of which he could only speculate about.

His decision, therefore, was final. Paul was not a Jedi, and would not be granted access to the Archives. It was not for the good of the Jedi, but rather, for Paul's own protection. Sheng knew all too well how easy it was to be tempted by the Dark Side - he'd been down the road to revenge once before, and he'd been a fully fledged Knight when he had brushed shoulders with temptation, and had scarcely withstood the allure of darkness. So, with all the pessimism of a jaded warrior, he had determined that the boy would fall if presented with the same temptation.

Though that matter was said and done, he was not afraid to offer an alternative to Paul. Where one door closes, another door opens, and so the saying went. "You know, though," Sheng said, "The Archives are only one route to realizing your potential. Were you to join the Order, you'd receive extensive training in the use of the Force and a lightsaber."

It was at that precise moment that Jiang decided to cut in. The deep voice of the thirty-something tiger instantly drowned out Sheng's final syllable, overwriting it with his own words, delivered in a far warmer, cheerier tone. "Or, if Sheng was feeling really nice, he could just find a rogue for you to train with so that you don't have to learn all the wishy-washy nonsense the Order likes to tack onto every training session."

"Don't you just have convenient timing, Jiang," Sheng quipped, his tone slightly playful.

Jiang chortled. "Yes," the massive feline replied as he swung his legs over the edge of the bed and slid onto his feet. "Yes I do." The sienna-furred cat turned towards Paul and smiled down at the human, quickly examining him. Though similar in initial appearance to Sheng, the two felines were wholly different; Ji's frame was huge and packed with carefully sculpted muscle, built as much for form as they were for function. His eyes were ice blue and spoke volumes about their owner, hinting at his kind spirit and sharp intelligence. A titan of a man, Jiang's head very nearly touched the ceiling - in fact, the tips of his fuzzy ears did brush the ceiling, forcing his ears to lay back! He easily dwarfed Sheng in size and physical fitness, and so too did he dwarf Paul. [Naomi, for that matter, looked like an ant compared to her father! It was clear that she hadn't inherited his sheer size, to say the least.]

He extended a hand to Paul. "I'm Jiang. Naomi's father. I'm guessing you're Paul, right?"

(ooc: I think we both are just being swamped by stuff X_X)

"I see, that would make sense."

Paul responded, a slight tone of disappointment within his voice. He wasn't sure why that tone was there, since he had expected the answer to begin with. Perhaps optimism had gotten the better of him and there was a small chance of hope that he'd be able to access the archives with no problem. Still, the archives weren't open for the general public, which meant that non-Jedi could not access those.

It would seem he would have to find another way to learn the ways of the force, though another master wasn't a bad solution. To save his master, he had to get stronger, though he had to do it for her sake, not for his. Revenge, would get him nowhere, if she was dead, it would be all for nothing. He nodded his head as a faint smile appeared on his face, he wouldn't surrender now.

As Sheng began to state another option, which was not a bad idea, another voice echoed through the room. Paul glanced towards the source of the bed to find Jiang standing up and stating his own comment. Judging by the context of the word, the feline didn't seem too fond of the Jedi order. What surprised him was the size of the feline, as the feline stood up to full height and walked over to introduce himself.

One could tell by the look on Paul's face that he wasn't used to seeing those taller than him, that and he wasn't that familiar with other species. Pushing his chair back with his legs as he stood up, Paul shook Jiang's hand firmly as he nodded his head. He wondered why Naomi was so short, since her father was pretty much huge.

"Yes, sir. I see Naomi's told you a lot about me."

He mused as he turned back towards Sheng. He now had two choices to make: to join the Jedi order, or to find a rogue to train him.

"Master Weisheng, I don't know what the right choice is for me at this point, but if I may ask, I would like to train under one of you two."

Paul stated calmly as he looked at both felines. It was an odd request for a padawan-level force user to make, or so he thought, but Paul knew that he could trust any one of these two. More importantly, he could keep an eye on Naomi to protect her in case she got herself into any trouble.
