Oh, I can keep up,” he said. “Can you?

Jin interlaced hands with Cassian and drifted into the sea of bodies as the musicians took up a fast rhythm. He was far more used to slow-moving masquerades and waltzes, but he picked up the music’s pace with surprising ease. He had spent years training in fencing and swordplay, and while they differed greatly from tango, he saw them in the same vein: they both involved dancing around your partner, moving your feet without hesitation but always at the right time. Jin liked it.

Which was odd, because he rarely liked anything when it came to gatherings like these. “A shame your darling princess never had it in her busy schedule to attend your party. I’ve heard rumors she’s head over heels with you.” Jin gave Cassian a smooth twirl. “But you know, according to the tabloids, you two are rarely seen together in public. How come?” He dipped the Zeltron back, a hand hooked around his waist. “Lovers’ quarrel?

Jin brought him up again, continuing their strange, whirlwind dance. A smile played across his lips. A black strand of hair hung over the left side of his face. “I’m only joking. I’m just sure the princess has better things to do than sip champagne with a room full of boring politicians.” His eyes flicked over Cassian’s shoulder to where Emryc and Emil were dancing. The way they were moving, ‘boring’ was nowhere near accurate of a description. “Or maybe she’s just a shut-in?

Jin continued swaying with the Senator, hands tied, only inches from each other’s face. “Well, you know what they say—opposites do attract.” Was he flirting with the Zeltron? No, that couldn’t be right. Jin did not remotely care for the company of already taken men. Or anyone, for that matter. He wondered if it was the pheromones at work, or just impulsive stupidity.

“I look forward to the opportunity,”Jaikus replied, raising his glass towards Korre before downing the last of its contents. There was a genuine tone and noticeable glint to the Axxilan’s eye, indicating that his offer was legitimate. It was a topic that Jaikus enjoyed, and the night thus far had the Axxilan in a thoroughly good mood.

Jaikus couldn’t help but note the twinkle in the Belascan’s eye, flashing the woman a bright smile as he took her hand, making their way towards the dancefloor. He casually placed his empty cocktail glass on a tray as he moved, freeing up both of his hands for the dance.

As soon as they reached the dancefloor, Jaikus began to seamlessly move his body to the music – his hands raising up from his sides as his hips began to sway to the rhythm. After a few moments, Jaikus took a step forward towards Korre, closing that bit of distance and ending the solo portion of their dance.

He once again took hold of the Belascan’s hand with his right hand, while his left arm snaked around and rested gently on her shoulderblade. The Axxilan flashed a charming smile as they began dance in sync, stepping in and out, hips swaying to the beat. As they stepped to the side, Jaikus briefly moved his body in a sharp, half-turn pivot - his left arm extending out to his side, before turning back to face Korre.

A few more minutes would pass, and the cha-cha song gradually came to a close. He paused just then, listening as the song changed to something a bit more energic. Jaikus briefly looked across the dancefloor, catching sight of Emryc once more – just as he removed his suit jacket and began his dance with the Chancellor. He took in the sight of the half-Sephi’s muscular forearms for several seconds – a somewhat stupid, dazed expression on his face.

Emeralds lingered for just a moment before snapping back to Korre, once more giving the woman his attention during the course of their dance.

The music shifted, and Jaikus altered his style accordingly. He tugged the Belascan woman close, once more grasping her hand while his other arm snaked down, resting loosely against her lower back. With that, he began to move forward – traveling the length of the room with long, graceful steps – his body moving fluid and languidly to the music. As they moved, Jaikus spun them together as a single unit, practically gliding across the floor.

As they moved once more to the center of the dancefloor The Axxilan lifted Korre's hand above her head and spun her on the balls of her feet, tugging her close before dropping her into a low dip - his own leg sliding out behind him. “A scientist, galactic leader, and an excellent dancer.” He spoke smoothly. “I’d be curious to know what you can’t do so seamlessly, my lady.” He once more flashed a charming smile, slowly lifting the woman from the dip to continue their dance.

Dancing tipsy was always an interesting experience. One he seldom got to experience as Chancellor, and one he didn't think he would get to share with the President of the bloody Consortium. Emryc had allowed Emil to lead him onto the floor, but that was where the Chancellor's lead ended. To Emil's great surprise, Emryc was a talented dancer, and he was so consumed with keeping up he almost forgot they were supposed to be talking too. When the President brought up his exploits on Coruscant's night scene, he inwardly grimaced.

What had he been thinking?

Men. That's what he had been thinking about. He spent all day around them. Most of his aides were men. But they were stuffy men in stuffy suits, barking at him about stupid things like "legalities" and reminding him the importance of meeting with this senator and that. Of course, these days, the Republic Senate was more a formality than anything. Senators liked to complain about Republic policy, but getting them to show up to actually vote on it was harder than getting a toddler to the dentist. His own election had been a stark reminder of that.

No, Emil hadn't been thinking of those kind of men. He had been thinking about men like that one he had met on Coruscant in the bars. The stranger whose name he'd never gotten. He was thinking about men like Malik and Emryc. And, sure, Jin too. The Senator from Fondor had all the charm of a pitbull, but even they could be cute once in awhile. Emil hadn't gotten an opportunity to date or drink or dance since becoming Chancellor, and it was eating him alive. So, despite the fact that Emryc's words were no doubt meant to tease him for his escapades, he did, in fact, enjoy their dance.

"You know how it goes, Mr. President," Emil said as charmingly as his alcohol addled mind would allow him. "The travails of leadership often leave one parched for the company of another. Leadership can be dreadfully lonely. Not to mention, one often forgets how much they enjoy music such as this until they spend day in and day out being tortured slowly to death with office music."

He shuttered at the thought. Then, he eyed Malik. "But you seem to have gotten lucky in that regard. Dare I ask where a man as busy as you managed to find such a strapping partner?" He smirked, genuinely, hoping Jin might overhear him. "We're depressingly short on attractive men in the Core Worlds." @Sreeya @Altaris @Song

"I'll try," the Zeltron quipped.

The dance floor had already begun to fill, each dancer as eager to forget the troubles of the day as they were to have a good time. Luckily, Vaisra was a better dancer than Cassian gave him credit for. His last partner had been a Mirialan with two left feet, and although weeks had passed, sometimes the Zeltron imagined he could still feel her heels pressing into his feet.

"That's your trouble, Vaisra—" He tilted his head toward the Senator of Brentaal, still secluded to one corner of the room with Lon Tendree. The woman was trapped, and it couldn't have happened to a more deserving person. "—and your friend's over there. You always see the worst in people and assume the worst.

"I thank you for your... thoughtful concern, but let's just say that we like to keep out of the way of prying eyes. The tabloids are only too eager to sink their teeth into a story, regardless of whether it's true or not." Cassian was familiar with the gossip that circulated, the rumors that the Princess had rigged the senatorial election in his favor and that he was only dating her for the amenities she could provide. Not that they were all unfounded rumors, mind you. Dating the Princess did provide a certain amount of security and assurances, but Cassian had earned his position of his own accord.

"But I see you've done your research on me." Cassian smiled over at Vaisra, as if he'd gained some footing in this verval sparring match of theirs. "Do you prescribe to the age old philosophy to keep your friends close and your enemies closer or... are you just curious?

"As for tonight, the Princess was unavoidably detained elsewhere. Her father dotes on her and relies heavily upon her."
He tilted his head to one side, his eyes twinkling. "I'm sure you'd know something about that.

"You see, not all royalty run from their heritage..."
His gaze lingered on the Fondorian. "Just some."

Smiling, he decided to ease up. "Still, I can appreciate a self-made man. It's impressive, really. I hear you won the election in a landslide."

Unlike many in the room, Emryc was usually largely removed from participating in drama. He was often surrounded by it, and often the source of it, but he himself usually attempted to detach himself from it. Most of it was because the half Sephi was largely oblivious to cattiness. He had certainly learned to read it better from dating men that had entire catty sides to them, but he was still largely inept at the game.

He and Emil shared the same heavy buzz, just steps above being drunk. Emil was much smaller and likely was much further along than Emryc. Nevertheless, the President continued to lead him through the fast paced dance, swaying his hips to the music and twirling the Chancellor effortlessly. When the man spoke, Emryc was surprised at the candidness and admission of loneliness. His face, however, didn’t reveal this surprise.

Emryc didn’t miss the way Emil’s gaze wandered over to his partner, the sight only bringing a faint grin. He spun Emil around and pulled him into an intimate dance embrace with his back against the half Sephi’s chest. Emryc looked over Emil’s shoulder ahead at the others, “I don’t mix business with pleasure,” His voice rumbled quietly nearly his ear before he spun the Chancellor out again.

“Every now and then I also pull my head out of my own ass,” Emryc said with a grin, slipping one of his legs fluidly between Emil’s to make him abruptly tip back into a dip. The half Sephi gazed down at the Chancellor, silver eyes glinting with light-natured amusement as a faint, lazy grin graced his face, “Might I suggest you try the same, Chancellor?”

They danced and it was wonderful. Was there anything she missed more than dancing? The music, the movements, the make-dos when she didn't quite know the steps--she loved it all. Her drink was gone before Malik reached out to end their solo dancing, placed onto a tray by the tips of her fingers, and subsequently forgotten about. They began to dance, and Korre let him lead. Cha-cha was not a style she was intimately familiar with, but it did not stop her from matching the Axxilan's energy. For any moments in which the dance fell in her lap, he would find she was more than ready to take the reigns.

Korre did not miss the brief glance Malik sent in Emryc's direction in the lull between songs. Knowing that the two were a pair, an amused--but good-natured--look flashed onto her face as he turned back and they began to dance once again.

"How did the two of you meet?" Korre asked as they traveled across the room, trying to make small talk. She would listen to his response as they spun and twirled about, somehow avoiding the other dancers in their movements. And when she was lowered into a dip and complimented by the man, she would respond in humor.

"Well, I am a terrible pilot, and I am awful at Sabacc." It was true. There was a reason she had a personal pilot. She'd gotten into one tiny crash as a teenager and her father hired that man straight away. There were no complaints from her though; flying was a bore and the man himself was a riot. And Sabacc? She couldn't maintain a poker-face for shit, and her luck ran dry with any sort of betting game.

"Your dancing is very good as well, Mr. Malik."

As she was pulled up, Korre felt a buzz across her skin and a hint of warmth on her face. 'Damn, the whiskey is strong!' Her movement was not impeded though. If anything, Korre's dancing became more relaxed, more fluid, and instilled with an energy she hadn't felt since her party days back in university. All along, that smile of hers never left her lips.

'Alright, my turn.' In one smooth movement, Korre would rotate the positioning of their hands and begin to lead the dance. In her heels, she was just about Malik's height, so there was no hindrance in doing so. Effie always danced best when Korre took the lead, so the Belascan woman had even grown to prefer leading the dance. 'I wonder how she's doing?' The Twi'lek woman would forever be her favorite dance partner. Too bad life had pulled them apart.

Korre's style of dancing was energetic, dynamic, and led them to spin and maneuver around the other dancers on the floor. When the music changed to something a tad bit slower, she fell harder into her heels, slowing their dance to fit the new tempo by increasing the time in between the ebb and flow of their footwork.

"You're an adjunct professor; what courses do you teach? Are you at your university for research opportunities?" The questions had returned; Korre was insatiably curious to hear if he had any ongoing research. The Prime Minister had a bit of her own. Some of it she could talk about, some of it would fly over his head, and some of it she was not even allowed to speak to others about. But history? One of the things she loved most about history was the sheer amount of it willingly shown to the public.

Lon nodded as she spoke about what was going on in the New Republic. Many worlds weren't happy first with the warmongering, then with the unilateral alliance with the Jedi, and with sanctions to cap everything off. There were many worlds growing discontented with the current situation.

Oh yes, I remember, he affirmed. He listened, intentionally displaying just the perfect amount of interest but without appearing overly excited. Despite all appearances, he was still quite a skilled politician when it came to playing The Game.

I think I would much appreciate taking you up on that offer, he said. Perhaps even the sooner the better. The war is on our doorstep, and there are many who are not interested in being thrust into another galaxy-spanning conflict, he agreed.

Her points she made about the war between the NR and the Sith were quite compelling and quite true. People may have thought the Neimoidians cowards, but they were simply pragmatic.

Hergalor nodded as the Supreme Chancellor stole away the President for a dance. He felt his own vision start to blur as he moved again. Mother Jungle, he couldn't handle his booze like a young man anymore. He needed to take a seat and regain his breath. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted two stools presently unoccupied. Perfect. He scurried over to steal a seat, leaning his back against the wall of the room to steady himself. When he looked up, he noticed Phineas Hawthorne preening at his appearance. He gestured towards the figuratively and literally green senator, inviting him to sit down by his side. Another opportunity to expand Taanab's sphere of influence.

"Phinaes, my friend," It was getting hard to focus. "Why are you a Senator?" It seemed like the man would rather wage a one-man crusade against the Syndicates; would an organization like the Sector Rangers or local police not satisfy this urge? Did he not see that, in the climate of the Galactic Senate, no one cared about the plight of his individual world? Why did he do this?

"You see, for me, it's for the cigars. Always get the best sent straight to my door. It's nice." His voice slurred. He did love those cigars. But, he was more being playful to illustrate a point; politics is a business. If you treated it as more than that, you'd get chewed up and spit out. "What is it you want here?"

Phineas was startled by the sudden appearance of the Ithorian Senator. But the surprise was very welcome, regardless of the thought process he was in the middle of. Now it seemed that someone was giving him neutral attention- not bad nor good. Phineas didn't want to embarrass himself further however, and didn't want to have to put his foot back into his mouth for a second time.

The question was actually apart of Phineas's interrupted thoughts. He, too, wanted to really get down to why he decided to become a Senator. "I...Now that I think of it..." Phineas sighed and smiled apologetically. "My whole life I was gutter-trash. My voice didn't matter and there were a few others, like me and my mother, that wished our voices could be heard. My whole life...I was oppressed into submission." He stated blatantly. "I wanted that to change. I wanted my voice to be heard and I wanted to give people that grew like me that same chance, too....It's kind of childish, now that I say it out loud. I was the little guy that nobody stood up for, but now I can stand up for myself." He scratched the back of his head anxiously but then stopped fiddling with himself and sat a little straighter.

"I thought that if I could make everyone aware of all the coercion, money laundering, bribery, and extorsion they've committed, I could get the whole galaxy to turn on them. I believe in privilege, Senator Hergalor, but I believe that privilege comes from money. More money you have in your wallet, the better attorney you can get to defend you in court. The more money you have, the better cigars you can smoke. Black Sun knows how to handle money well, and because of that they have an elite militia of shock troopers that perform an entirely different level of negotiation. If I can derive them of their forced funding by getting the people to stand up to those bullies, I could do it all over the galaxy. It starts with Black Sun but it'll end with tyrants everywhere."

It wasn't too long after the Corporate Sector was given seats in the Galactic Senate, her appointment as Blackwell Tech Liaison to the galactic body followed some time after, and already she is going to parties with other Galactic politicians. That suits her just fine.

Vetra arrived wearing a fancy cyan dress and looking good for the occasion, looking her best, she will look like she belongs in a room with big named politicians.

Having just arrived, she can see others. ISC President Thorne, FWA Prime Minster Belasi, Republic Chancellor Ro and other very familar faces as well. Vetra has watched the last few assemblies and took note of the prominent personalities in the chambers.

Now then, Vetra would head over to the table with the drinks and then get herself some wine. After getting a glass, she would then walk over towards the windows and sip it, gazing though out it.

She would then look back towards the others, once she has enjoyed more of her drink perhaps she will mingle with the others then. Maybe people curious will come toward her first...

Perhaps

But for now, this wine.

Sibyl smiled at Lon’s answer. She knew that the offers of neutrality and of a stable economy were tempting to any Neimoidian. These sly creatures, always seeking what is more advantageous for them. “Wonderful! As soon as I return to Brentaal I’ll arrange a meeting for us. I think it will be very enlightening for you.” She said to Tendree. Hopefully after that meeting Cato Neimoidia would decide to join the ISC.

While she was sipping her wine, Sibyl watched the people that were dancing. As she expected, Emil and Emryc dancing together was the most bizarre thing that she ever saw. The Chancellor was so small compared to the half-Sephi that he nearly disappeared behind the mass of muscles of the President. The Governor really regretted not having any dispositive to record the entire scene, she would love to watch it again at home. Jin and Graves were also dancing and she wondered if the Zeltron would be smart enough to try to seduce the Fondorian to be his new sugar daddy.

However, she doubted that. Zeltrons were dumb by nature and Vaisra already have Emil as his sugar baby. Maybe more like a true baby, because Ro’s brain is basically that of a newborn. Maybe his accident in the Senate Session of some months ago was because he forgot to use his diapers.

Who was also dancing was Korre Belasi. Her partner was Emryc’s lover, Altair Malik. Once again Sibyl was impressed with the other woman. She never thought that someone like the Prime Minister would know how to dance. The Brentaalan always thought that she was a lab rat and incapable of doing anything beyond that.

Sibyl was starting to get bored. Maybe she could find someone to dance with, but none of the other guests interested her. Between Hergalor and Isard, the Brentaalan preferred to throw herself through the window. Sipping the rest of her wine, she turned to Lon. "Excuse me, Senator. I’ll refill my glass.” she said, before walking away.

With her glass full again, Sibyl decided to walk a bit around Graves’ penthouse. The place was really horrible, she couldn’t even stand how ridiculous the decor was. It hurt her eyes! While she looked around, the Brentaalan noticed a woman dressed in a cyan dress near the windows. Poor woman, the dress and makeup made her look like a clown. She wondered if the Zeltron had hired a circus to make a show during the party.

Curious with who the clown was, Sibyl walked toward her. “Goodnight! I’m Sibyl Lassiter.” she said,, with a fake smile on her lips. While she waited for the other to answer, the Brentaalan needed to control herself to not grimace with the vision before her. Now being close, the other woman looked even more ridiculous.

As they traveled gracefully traveled across the dancefloor, Jaikus couldn’t contain the wide smile that spread across his lips. There were few activities that the Axxilan truly enjoyed as much as dancing, and it was clear that he was already enjoying himself. A bit genuine warmth bled through when Korre asked her question, invoking fond memories at once.

“At a party not unlike this one, the first time,” He glanced back in partner’s direction for a split second, chuckling silently before continuing on. “But we truly got to know one another during a field expedition studying a site of ancient ruins.” He spun Korre around once more, moving the Prime Minister gracefully across the floor as he made small talk. “We both share a passion for matters of history. Spent the better part of a week combing through those dusty ruins, and had our fair share of heated debate the entire time – which, naturally, I turned out to be right about in the end.” His grin tugged a bit wider, chuckling softly. “And the rest is history."

Jaikus hummed softly. “The best decision I have ever made, without a shadow of a doubt.”

Jaikus grinned playfully as he dipped Korre low to the ground, listening as he spoke. “Well if it makes you feel any better, I have perhaps the worst Sabacc-face of anyone on Onderon. Certainly the worst in this room, by far.” There was clear tone of amusement that bled into his words, alongside quite a bit of truth. Expressive by his very nature, Jaikus often failed miserably when attempting to maintain an inscrutable expression. It was for that same reason, despite his playful and clever attempts to cheat at board game with his partner, Emryc had always caught onto his antics – given away by his own shit-eating grin.

“You are too kind, my lady.” He spoke smoothly, pulling her back up from the dip to continue their dance. The Axxilan adapted seamlessly as Korre abruptly took the lead in their dance, his hands shifting place accordingly.

His movements were nothing short of precise and graceful, just as comfortable moving to the woman’s beat as he was commanding the dancefloor. He kept his body fluid and loose, allowing the Belascan to lead them however she so chose. When the music changed , Jaikus adapted quickly – keeping a hand placed gently against the Belascan’s shoulderblade while the other grasped her hand as their dance slowed.

“Currently, I teach courses in the Ancient History of the Core Worlds, covering the pre-BTC epoch.” Even as their dancing continued, Jaikus fell right back into the academic questions – that glint in his eye returning at once. “One of the greatest advantages of the Institute is its numerous research opportunities. I am presently conducting research into the Imperial period of the Tion Cluster."

“And how about yourself? Have you found any time to conduct a great deal of research since taking office?”

Say what you want, Graves, but this is the Senate. Seeing the worst in people should be common sense. I would have expected a man in your position to already know that, but then I remembered you slept your way up the ladder, instead of fighting like the rest of us.” Jin careened back, twirling under Cassian’s arm, his feet dancing over the marble floors, and pulled him back in close. He stood slightly taller than the Zeltron, but the senator's eyes burned, like twin suns in the sky, and it seemed like they were evenly matched in strength.

I’m not sure what to call you, though,” he continued. “Friend? Enemy? Certainly not ‘rival,’ if we’re taking our homeworlds into account, but you’re an interesting case, Graves. Maybe I am curious. Maybe I’m just aching for a dance. Or maybe I’m here to decide what to do with you. That I’d much rather leave you to guess.” The barest smile ghosted his lips. Jin had always been a tease, if not an outright bastard.

And I appreciate the compliment. Honestly, it wasn’t hard. The election was nothing. The incumbent senator had passed somewhat unexpectedly during his term.” If Cassian looked at Jin more closely, he might notice the dark gleam in his eye, the shadow of a man who would do anything to win. “The man’s successor was plagued with scandal, too—many terrible secrets involving his love life, or what dealings he made behind closed doors. It only made sense that the public had enough. My appointment was practically guaranteed.

Jin wouldn’t admit that he had been the one to orchestrate both men’s downfall, fabricating one scandal after another for the people to wolf down and spit out, but he figured Cassian would piece that together easily enough. He was a smart man. But too smart, and Jin wouldn't hesitate. He’d bury him along with all the other bodies he’d paved over in his road to power.

But please, don’t let that story frighten you. I’m sure you’re not hiding any skeletons in the closet, right, Senator? If we’re going to be friends, I don’t think we should keep secrets from one another.

Emil stared up into the President's simmering slate grey gaze and smiled despite himself. There were certainly worse ways to be roasted in public. And was that a twang of jealousy he felt? He imagined Malik got to dance in this way, with this man, on numerous occasions. He harbored a brief flicker of hope that he could find something similar back on Coruscant; but who was he kidding? Well, no point in lamenting what could not be avoided. Best to enjoy the present, fleeting though it might be.

The Chancellor quirked a brow. "One could say that one's ass is exactly where a politician's head belongs," he said. "What better way to tune out the media and develop a sense of self-importance large enough to even pursue this office?"

It was all tongue and cheek, of course. Emryc had not been the first person to give Emil such advice. He would likely be far from the last. Besides, there were other matters he wanted to discuss while he had this opportunity. Both men had sat next to each other during the last several Senate sessions, but had scarcely talked one-on-one since Naboo. That needed to change.

"In any case," the Chancellor continued. "I rather enjoyed our last visit together on Naboo. Perhaps you could visit the Core soon? Preferably not a world mired in industrial soot, of course. There are some lovely and peaceful places in the countryside on Chandrilla. I also hear tell of rather stellar resorts on Nubia, too, if you would prefer a taste of someplace new."

Truth be told, he didn't know what was new to Emryc. The man was well-traveled, both in and out of the Core. But he went with it. @Sreeya

The Zeltron's skin prickled beneath his suit, flinty eyes ablaze with anger for a matter of seconds. This was an accusation that had been lobbied against him from the very beginning of his political career, and usually it didn't bother him. At least, it didn't bother him this much. Coming from Vaisra, the words somehow got under his skin, clawing and digging away at his pride. The Fondorian was not only shrewd, he was intuitive. A bad combination.

"Maybe you should take my advice," Cassian eventually replied, a tense smile plastered across his lips. "But if you insist, I'd be more than happy to oblige. Seeing the worst in you would be all too easy."

Vaisra's implications were clear. The snake had stopped at nothing to secure his position on Fondor, and he would stop at nothing to keep it. Even— or perhaps especially— if that meant digging into the Zeltron's closet. Cassian leaned closer, a shadow falling over the length of his face. His voice was barely above a whisper as he said, "If I were you, Vaisra, I wouldn't stick your nose where it doesn't belong. You're liable to wind up looking like a Kubaz."

When the Zeltron leaned back, a casual, unbothered smile settled on his face.

"May I?" Not waiting for permission, the Zeltron brushed the loose strand of hair that hung across Vaisra's sickly-sweet face aside, tucking it back into place. "We must look our best. What if the Chancellor saw you?"

Briefly, Cassian's blue eyes drifted to Emil Ro. The man was still dancing, but it was a wonder he could even stand up in his condition. The Free Worlds Senator had to wonder if this was a common occurrence for the Chancellor or simply the culmination of a long day and the after effects of a Jedi Grandmaster tampering with your mind. He didn't particularly care either way. Hopefully, the press would have a field day with the drunk official. "Not that he'd notice. I doubt he could tell the difference between you and a Gamorrean right now."

His lips twisted upward into an amused grin. "Not that I'm saying there's any similarities. You're much taller than a Gamorrean."

Vetra had a confident smile on her face as someone was approaching her. The other woman greeted her. "Good evening to you too, Governor of Brentaal. She could tell Sibyl's smile weird. Most likely under the influence. Vetra would nod before introducing herself. "Vetra Solaris, representing Blackwell Tech. Nice to meet you." she introduced herself, keeping her cool smile on. The Governor of Brentaal was a distinctive face in the senate chambers, their world used to be with the Republic until sometime after the Republic attack on Denon, until they joined the prospering ISC.

The Blackwell spokeswoman wasn't sure on how the other woman would react upon hearing she was with Blackwell. Will the other react positively, negatively, or shrug and not care? She doesn't know, maybe she will see. Vetra would take another sip of her drink.

"Enjoying the drinks?" She would ask as a nice conversation starter, she did get a refill so maybe she did. Personally, Vetra had better drinks elsewhere.

So the woman was named Vetra Solaris and was the representative of Blackwell Tech. Sibyl thought that if they wanted to cause a good impression, they failed miserably. The person that was going to be their face on the Senate was dressed like a clown advertising that a circus had arrived at the city. With someone like that, Blackwell seemed to be more a company that sold products for circuses. Maybe they are starting to make some type of clown droid.

However, Blackwel Tech was still a profitable company. To become an investidor on it, Sibyl would even ignore how ridiculous Vetra’s clothes were. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Solaris. I’m happy that the members of the Corporate Sector are going to have a voice at the Senate. After all, they are also part of the Galactic community.” in reality she was more interested in the possibility of making agreements with these corporations. Now that they were part of the Senate, everything became easier.

It wasn’t bad.” it was Sibyl's answer to Vetra’s question. However, it was nice of her part to say it. She thought that even a cantina in the lower levels of Coruscant probably served something better than this insipid thing. It couldn’t even be considered a wine. It was grape juice inside a wine bottle. Graves needed to find a new sugar mommy immediately, or all his parties would continue being this terrible.

Tell me, Vetra. How is work for Blackwell?” Sibyl asked the other woman. She wanted to continue the conversation with her. It could be a good opportunity for her to approach the company. The Brentaalan was always hunting profitable places to invest her money on.

Emryc was surprised to spot the smile on Emil’s face. It wasn’t something he caught the man doing often. As a stoic at his core, Emryc flashed superficial smiles for the public, but very few saw genuine smiles. He caught a curious smile on Emil’s face - one he recognized as both genuine and yet not quite reaching his eyes. It certainly caught the half Sephi’s attention as he held that dip a bit longer than necessary.

He finally pulled Emil back up, continuing the dance as the Chancellor spoke. Emryc gave him a half grin at his quip back, not surprised to find Emil deflecting. The half Sephi respected the man to know he didn’t need advice, but he was still entertaining to banter with every now and then. He lifted his arm to twirl Emil under it, the smaller man moving quite easily with Emryc leading.

“Of course. It has been too long since we’ve talked,” Emryc responded to the question, switching Emil from one hand to the other as he spun them both around and faced him again, “But tell me. What is it you like to do outside of playing politician?” The half Sephi twirled the man again before tugging him back towards himself, allowing an arm to boldly lower and snake around his waist.

“Perhaps some things that make you smile like you did earlier?” Emryc grinned then before abruptly nudging Emil out across from him again to keep them moving.

Emil was an excellent lead. Their conversation had not distracted him from the rhythm of their dance once. Emil often didn't admit when he was having fun, even to himself; but he couldn't deny it here. This was fun. Less fun was considering Emryc's question. Not that it was a bad one. The Chancellor just wasn't used to having anyone take an interest in his recreational life. He also wasn't used to having a life outside of work.

"Before I became a Senator, I enjoyed the swoop races on Balmorra," he confessed. It was one of the few things he liked about his homeworld. Swoop races were more hair-raising than the podraces one saw on Tatooine or Malastare. At least, Emil thought so. "But smile as I did earlier?" Had he smiled? That was embarrassing. And, yet, there it was again. "Hover-sledding, definitely. There are some artificial resorts with it on the poles of Coruscant, but nothing beats the slopes on Chandrila. The way your stomach plunges with the first drop. It's exquisite."

He stopped gushing. It was unbecoming of a galactic leader to talk about their hobbies like a school girl plotting a spring vacation. But there it was. The President had asked, and he had gotten his answer. Emil was eager to shift the spotlight off of himself, so he turned the question back around on Emryc as he tried to keep pace with the man. "Have you ever been hover-sledding before? I highly recommend it." @Sreeya

Better to live as a Kubaz than a disappointment,” Jin retorted, not ignorant to the man’s taunting. It would take more to intimidate a prince. Not even the wine had cracked his icy veneer, and neither would Cassian’s rancid cologne. And yet, he flinched when the Zeltron reached in close and brushed a loose strand of hair from his eye, tucking it behind his ear. Nobody had ever come this close to Jin. Not his valet and not even Venka, who was probably watching them from some dark alcove in the room.

Whatever emotion Jin might have felt, however, vanished by what Cassian said next. The corner of his lip twitched. Pretty or not, his face never looked so damn punchable until that moment.

Jin resisted the urge to follow the Zeltron’s gaze to Emil, instead returning to his usual, glassy self. “Careful, Graves. Let’s not bring appearances into this. Not when you’re dressed like a freshly stuffed scarecrow.” Continuing their little dance, he dipped Cassian back. “I should also have you know I could not care less what the Chancellor thinks of me. He’s a pile of greasy elbows in a trench coat. Nothing more, and nothing less.

He pressed his hand against the lower half of Cassian's back and pulled him in dangerously close. His right leg leaned forward, the tip of his knee brushing against man's inner thigh. “Don’t let the tabloids mislead you about my relationship to him, Senator. My interests lay elsewhere.” He sighed, close enough for Cassian to catch the whiff of peppermint and wine off his breath. Then, as if teasing him, Jin slid back, his hand moving around to rest on the man’s waist. “In power, for a start.

I imagine there’s not much of that around here, but I see you make do with what you’ve got. I can respect that, at least.” His smile was like an assortment of knives left on display. “But if you don’t mind me asking, how do you intend to expand your influence beyond Onderon? I understand you’ve been eying Senator Hergalor since the assembly. Are you going to try and bed him too? Well, I do suppose your planet could benefit from a few extra pounds of grass to chew on.
