BIOGRAPHY

The firstborn son of a lord of one of Brentaal’s most prestigious houses, Andronikas was handed everything he could need to succeed. Receiving the utmost attention and focus by his father, Pterygas, the boy was always expected to excel in everything he did. Whether that was fencing, oratory, or academics, nothing besides perfection would be accepted. Ofcourse, perfection is a goal oft impossible to achieve-- and therefore, none of his accomplishments were accepted.

Beloved by all the many friends at his court, and swooned over by girls, Andronikas should have been happy. But never did he receive the desired praise and acceptance any son should expect from a father. Always were they distant, and Andronikas would naturally develop a resentment against the man. The only one who shared his sympathies on this front was his younger brother, Claudias. Comparatively, the crippled boy had a far worse relationship with the old Pterygas, so Andronikas developed a habit of protecting his younger brother. Mostly out of pity, he’d begin to stand between his father and brother during his ranting, and as the years went by, he began to grow more bold.

Pterygas was a man who despised weakness, and to him, compassion was one of the greatest any lord could have. As such, whenever Andronikas engaged in even the slightest sympathy for his brother’s plight, he received nothing but his father’s complete disgust. He would go on about how he needed to be strong, how his brother did not deserve his protection. How he would need to make tough decisions once lord, and any expressions of pity or empathy were merely a weakness to be stamped out.

The conflict between the father and son came to a head in 116 ABY. Andronikas tells everyone he knows the same story; he discussed retirement with his father. Viewing it as a direct insult against him, Pterygas flew into a verbal rage. He hurled vile curses and threats against his own son, promised that he and all his children would be disinherited. Promised that he would sooner give the house’s titles and fortunes to his daughter’s sons, over his own son and grandsons of his name. It was at the height of this exchange that Pterygas suddenly stopped talking, stood still, and collapsed.

So angry had the man become that suffered a massive stroke. Unable even speak, and paralyzed from the neck down, Pterygas was in no way, shape or form capable of remaining a lord. As such, Andronikas assumed all offices and responsibilities of his father, even though his father, technically, never gave up his titles. The eighteen year old boy was thus put in charge of a family estate whose combined assets could be put on the galactic stock exchange.

Under most circumstances, such a situation could very well lead to the ruin of a house. However, Andronikas was not a fool, and due to the harsh discipline he suffered, he didn’t engage in serious excesses.

Before becoming lord, however, this was far from the case. While a young man, he would engage in near constant fencing, partying, or… carnal activities. The man became just as famous for his wit and strength, as he did for his desire. There were always new claims from women, noble or peasant alike, saying that they carried his bastard. Oddly enough near every one of them turned up false, so the man simply stopped listening to them by the time he assumed his father’s position.

Once Lord, Andronikas became a much more sullen man. He did all he was supposed to; manage the family’s finances, help promote their position in the government, and begin arranging marriages for his children. But the wild, rambunctious young man he had been died. What was left in its place was all his father had tried to create; a hard, uncaring man, dedicated only to the advancement of his family.

PERSONALITY

If one were to meet the Andronikas of 30 years ago and the Andronikas of today, he would hardly be recognizable. The young, hedonistic fencing prodigy no longer exists. In its place is a perpetually disengaged, tired, and depressed man. He still continues to uphold his responsibilities, but only as a chore. He cares no longer for his position, and simply wishes that he will soon be able to retire, and give al powers and authority to his children. Seeing as none of them seem even slightly capable of that, however, Andronikas is stuck; hoping that it will be his grandchildren that will be qualified enough to inherit his burden. Ofcourse, no such grandchildren exist, so he’s simply stuck.

Eve his brother, amicable as the two are to one another, has become estranged from the man over the years. Claudias views him as having been worn down by his responsibilities, while Andronikas views his younger brother more and more as a burden. He’s capable of recognizing the talent for history that his brother possesses-- a fact his father would dismiss as “a waist of time fit for men of a lesser breed.” However, Andronikas wishes heavily for the family to remain disengaged-- to simply collect their taxes, improve their finances, and allow the wheels of the galaxy to turn in their favor.

GENERAL ATTRIBUTES

Strength-- Andronikas spent his teenage years in two places; on the court fencing, or in someone else’s bed. As such, he’s a remarkably physically conditioned man. Even today, he still practices a stringent physical routine. This has left his body with a heavy load of muscle. However, due to his diet of mostly gourmet meals, and a life devoid of any true manual labor, he has packed on quite some fat over the years. Nevertheless, in a raw physical battle, it would be difficult to beat the man.

Perception-- Andronikas was once an astute young man-- once being the keyword. Trained to look for weaknesses in opponents, he still has a vestigial ability to analyze minute details. However, the man is no longer as engaged as he once was. He simply sees no point in putting in the effort in such pursuits, and as such, his lack of engagement simply negates almost all the benefits his training provides… also, his eyesight is deteriorating with age.

Endurance-- the previously mentioned muscle, combined with his fat stores, give Andronikas a quite bulky frame. As such, his endurance is quite high, able to shrug off most bare-handed blows with little effort. He possesses no way of countering blasters or sharp/burning weapons however, though blunt weapons like hammers would be less effective.

Charisma-- a depressed, middle aged lord, Andronikas possesses none of the charisma he once had. He is no longer a handsome young prince, ready to sweep the nearest girl off their feet. He is an older, beaten down man, resigned to live out the last decades of his life in disappointment. His sons are ingrates, his daughter is aloof, and he wakes up three times a night to piss into a bowl. Suffice to say, he isn’t a happy, or in any way social, man. In spite of this, he still maintains a level of politeness that can help negate his obvious lack of engagement in any conversation.

Intelligence-- whereas his brother has used his intelligence as a gift, helping him succeed in his political career, or write extremely detailed historical works, Andronikas simply does not use his intellect. No, instead, he allows it to feed into his thoughts of inevitable failure and death.

SKILL AND EQUIPMENT

Combat-- Were someone to face Androinkas in the ring at the age of 18, they would be hard pressed to find a more well trained civilian. While not a soldier or trained mercenary by any means, Andronikas’ technique is refined, and his style is powerful, using his size to his advantage against opponents that rely on speed and agility. Even as depressed as the man is, he maintains a physical discipline unparalleled amongst the upper nobility of Brentaal’s society, or any society without a strict warrior code. When fighting for his life, he would prove a challenge against even the most skilled opponents… except force users, on which he has no defense from.

Oratory-- Andronikas received a fine education on public speaking, but has never truly practiced his talents in that regard. He leaves most of the speaking of his family up to his brother, and as such, simply does not care.
