Another Step in Life

Maia was helping Rayla take care of Tamara and Cain while Adun was out and about. She had to admit, the little ones had gotten bigger a little faster than she expected. They had already been big enough to crawl around and cause trouble on the ship. "Rayla I have no idea how you keep up with these little ones." Maia said panting a little from trying to catch the two. They giggled as they crawled away quickly and she wondered how they got away so fast.

Then she remembered. She could use the force to sense which way they were heading, and get ahead of them where they would run right into Maia. Her first target was Cain, who was all over the place hiding in the worst spot for Maia to reach into. He got into spots she could barely squeeze herself into even though her waist was tiny as ever. As Cain fit himself into a tight corner, Maia tried to reach in a grab him, but the corner was too small for her to get him. "Cain, come on honey." She said to him softly. All he did was look up to her with his big toothless grin and pushed himself further back into the corner. Maia shook her head as she then used the force to very carefully and softly bring him out. Once she got him, he was giggling with his toothless grin even bigger than before. He came to her hands and she grabbed him out of the air carefully, bringing him close to her. Next was Tamara.

Tamara was sitting at the opposite wall, two feet away from the other opening parallel to the one Cain was in. Tamara was sitting there until she saw Maia looking at her and started to get up to hide. Maia was too quick though and ran smoothly but quickly over to the little girl and picked her up. She then walked back over to Rayla and handed Cain to her. "I think they're diapers need to be changed..." She said suddenly smelling something odd.

It was fun the first couple of times she saw her children getting all wild and crawling away to hide, but after awhile when Ray needed them to sleep it was nothing more than an annoying hassle trying to catch them. Which wasn't hard, Ray and Maia would simply use the Force to lift them into the air, much to their enjoyment. It was cute no doubt, but it took them an hour to fall asleep. They were so hyperactive. Tamara was quieter, but spoke more often, and Cain was more rebellious and tried his best to crawl away to avoid having to sleep. They hardly ever cried oddly enough, but no complaint there. She could see herself in them at times.

Ray held Cain in her one arm and covered her nose with her free hand,"Aww again? We should really get a droid to do this...." That reminded her that she wanted to ask Adun to buy one when they visited Corellia again. They have really good domestic droids in Coronet City, and cheap too. "Let's just make this as quick as possible" She went into the spare room where her babies slept and sat Cain down so she and her handy friend could change him. While she did so she spoke to Maia about how odd it was for her children to be hybrids, something that really bothered her,"I wonder when Cain will start growing hair, Tamara's hair almost reaches past her ears. What if he doesn't get hair? Like me?"

One thing definitely got Maia when trying to catch these two. They were fast, surprisingly, very energetic and they had the most adorable smiles. But sometime ya had to ignore them because they were what the two used to get you distracted so you wouldn't catch them.

Maia made a little bit of a face when smelling the stench. "I agree, the droids at least have no sense of smell." She said giggling a little bit. Maia had known since they had gone to Corellia, that they had some of the best droids to be able to do these types of things. Maia nodded when she said to make it as quick as possible. "Ok." Maia sat Tamara near Cain in a safe spot, so she could help with Cain first and then get Tamara cleaned. Maia shrugged a little bit when she was asked if Cain would ever get hair. "It may just come in late. I wouldn't be too surprised though if he doesn't. I mean since he's part Togruta, part human, it's not impossible." she said.

Ray frowned, she had started worrying about this since she gave birth, and it still bugged her every now and then. Especially when she looked at her daughter's strange glow-in-the-dark purple eyes, which scared her at night. Ray sighed and looked at Maia after finishing up with Cain," Maia, don't ever take the risk of having hybrids. These two only came out healthy by chance, it could've been worse. And I'm thankful it didn't"

Maia looked up at Ray when she said to never chance it to have hybrids. "Don't worry Ray, I'm never getting married. Hopefully. I'm also thankful that they came healthy. It's a good thing." She said. After they finished with Cain, Maia pulled Tamara up to where they changed Cain and sat her down so they could change her.

 

[Tristyn]

Ray started to change Tammy so long,"Well yeah, just don't have children at all. Not at this age at at least. Adun and I can barely even go out, speaking of which.... where the hell is he anyway!? Could you give him a call quickly?" She would continue to finish up with her baby while Maia left to contact Adun.

 

[Rae Anne Jarrus]

Maia nodded at what she was saying. "Well you know I'm here, I can take care of them if you guys want to go out on a date." She said before Rayla loudly wondered where he was. When she asked if Maia could give him a call, she nodded and went to find a phone of some sorts. She finally found one and called Adun.

 

[Tristyn]

Maia was incredibly helpful and Ray really appreciated it and was already regretting having to ask her to call Adun, because now changing Tamara was nearly impossible. She wouldn't stop moving around and kept smiling and giggling at her, which distracted her,"MAIA! HER CUTENESS IS KILLING ME!!!"

Adun wasn't answering for some reason, so Maia left a message and called back again until she heard Rayla yelling. She turned in the direction it was coming from and realized that she was having cuteness issues with Tamara. Maia laughed and hung up the phone, going over to see what Rayla was talking about. When she went over, she saw a toothless smiling baby that was giggling so cutely. "Oh my goodness!!!" She laughed. "She's just way too cute right now. I left a message for Adun, so I'll help you." She laughed once again.

 

[Tristyn]

"Cool! Do you want some coffee? I could really use some, I'm freaking exhausted", even with her friend's help, Ray only managed to get a maximum of five hours of sleep everyday, that was why she never asked her to take care of them while she was away. These babies were deadlier than a Sith Lord.

 

[Rae Anne Jarrus]

"Yeah, that sounds great!" she said. Maia hadn't had coffee in a while and was pleased to hear that Rayla had coffee. She honestly never slept very well either, but she was very energetic. She did make a promise that she would be there no matter what. She had known that Rayla had wanted to spend time with Adun and she was going to talk over it with Adun to see if they could surprise her.

Maia would walk over to the kitchen with Rayla so they could make coffee. Maia gave a little bit of a tired sigh. One that she hadn't given in a long time. Ever since the birth of the two little rascals. "17 is coming wayy too quick." She stated. She hadn't ever told Rayla or Adun when her birthday was.

 

[Tristyn]

Ray moved to the kitchen and began to make the drinks while Maia mentioned her upcoming birthday, "You're gonna be seventeen!? When?" She also turned around to yeah the twins giggling in the room,"You did put them in their cot right?" For some reason twins seem to be so bonded with one other. Ray had them sleep in seperate cots but they would always cry when she did so. They always seem happier together. Kind of like how Ray eventually started to miss her own sister when they would go on missions. Odd indeed, considering they used to hate each other.

Maia smiled when Rayla asked her when her birthday was. "It's two days from now." she said with a small giggle. When Rayla turned around and heard the giggling, Maia heard it too. She nodded when she asked if she put the cot in there. "Yes, I did." she responded.

 

[Tristyn]

"Two days!? Why didn't you tell me earlier?", she finished making the coffee and handed a cup to Maia, before sitting down on her bed (they didn't have space for a couch) and sipping on her drink,"What do you do on your birthday?"

 

[Rae Anne Jarrus]

"I wasn't exactly thinking about it until now." She responded. Maia accepted the coffee gratefully, taking a sip as she sat down with Rayla. "I don't really do anything on my birthday. Usually its just another day. But Im getting older with that day. But I still find a cupcake or something with a candle and make the wish before blowing it out."

 

[Tristyn]

"Hmm, I do the same. More or less. I've forgotten my birthday a couple of times....like my 14th, 15th, 16th and my 17th birthday. I've grown not to really care", her children continued to play in their crib well she talked.

 

[Rae Anne Jarrus]

"Yeah, this was mainly because I didnt have anyone to celebrate it with." she said taking another sip of the coffee.

 

[Tristyn]

Ray frowned,"Aww....why not? Don't you have family to celebrate with?"

 

[Rae Anne Jarrus]

Maia shook her head the very slightest. "Adun never told you did he? I lost my family to the Empire when I was very very young." she responded.

 

[Tristyn]

Ray went white in the face and felt deeply ashamed,"Oh...no he didn't....Maia I'm so sorry. I didn't know"
