"This is Chet'U Betum reporting live from Glee Anselm. The newly formed Government of Glee Anselm, the Natural Nautolan Order or NNO for short, has declared that the Relocation of the planet's other native species, the Glee Anselmi, is to begin shortly. Already camps have been set up on one of the two moons of Glee Anselm - and the force migration is starting to ramp up. With me today I have one of the ISCRA volunteers here with me, Jo Rosa. Mx Rosa, thank you for your time."
"Got nothing but time right now Betum."
"That leads me into my first question nicely - the ISCRA volunteers don't appear to be getting very involved in the Relocation. Is there a reason for this?"
"Abso-karking-lutely. The joint Nautolan and Sith security is refusing to let us examine the camp facilities or corroborate their numbers."
"What numbers are you talking about?"
"Official census data for the Anselmi during the last FWA census said that there were roughly three million Anselmi living on the planet. Tiny number compared to the Nautolan population but not tiny. They claim that this 'holding area' you see here? With the fences and the armed guards 'for their protection'? They claim this holding area contains a third of the population of all Anselmi on the planet."
"But... there is no way there are one million people there."
"Exactly. Our numbers, which we've had to collect from orbit, seem to suggest the actual number is closer to three hundred thousand. And the other two waiting camps have roughly the same number of people."
"But that would suggest a drop of just over two million Anselmi since the last census! What has been the Nautolan's response to this claim?"
"Official response is that the census must have been wrong, though even they can't ignore that there was a lot of outbound traffic after the announcement. Unofficially the guards I've asked have told me that they couldn't give a womp-rat's ass how many were there."
"Charming. What about your comment about the camp facilities? Surely they know that as an aid and relief agency part of your role is to inspect facilities designed to house refugees."
"Oh they know."
"And?"
"And they don't seem to care. We keep getting stone walled under 'cultural reasons'. Apparently we can't check the food supply or the medical supply or even the sleeping situation because 'outsiders are not permitted to see, for cultural reasons'."
"That's horrible! How will the ISCRA and other agencies help safeguard the Anselmi if you can't even check on basics like that?"
"Your guess is as good as mine but I'm going to keep at it. I'll tunnel under the damned fences if I have to just to pass out some bottled water."
"You're a true credit to the ISCRA and the ISC, Mx Rosa."
"Not doing it for the spotlight - doing it because its what we do. Because its whats right."
