DESCRIPTION
The Arquitens-class command frigate is a capital ship originally manufactured by the Kuat Drive Yards. The design dates back to the Clone Wars, and is among the longest continuously serving classes of warship still in widespread use. Appearing as "baby star destroyers," they are not nearly as heavily armed as their larger cousins, but not nearly as much of a drain on resources.

Most Arquitens-class frigates which exist today represent a configuration created by a refit program instituted by the Galactic Empire in the years after the Clone Wars, intended to extend their service lives into the reign of the New Order. The type is 325 meters in length, and is armed with a quartet of quad turbolaser turrets, 8 quad medium laser turrets, 4 concussion missile launchers and a tractor beam projector. It has a full crew compliment of 750, although a skeleton crew of 50 can fly the ship without the ability to use weapons or other combat systems. In addition, up to 100 passengers can be carried. The ship has a top speed of 60 MGLT, and has a class 2 primary hyperdrive. Heavy shields are fitted as standard, as are long-range sensors and communication systems.

Notably, the Arquitens has no internal hangar facilities, although it is equipped with external docking points for small craft. Common practice during the Imperial era was for an Arquitens to carry up to 3 TIE fighters with it, docked between the forward mandibles to give them some measure of protection. Alternatively, a single small shuttle could be carried in the same space.

Arquitens-class command frigates are relatively scarce in the present day, compared to their numbers during the Clone and Galactic Civil Wars. Nevertheless, they are still in fairly widespread use for a craft as old as they are, and - true to their name - are generally used as command vessels by local planetary defense forces and sector navies.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Arquitens-class command frigates are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
To bring a ship from Star Wars Canon into our site's fanon

RESTRICTIONS
Arquitens-class command frigates are large capital ships with heavy weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. They may be used as a faction asset, however.
