Was just wondering what everyone thought of the premiere. I thought it was pretty awesome. Loved the new characters and the new versions of characters. But the ending has left me heartbroken. :/

I can tell Im going to LOVE this season.

As a writer I cringe everytime a show/book chooses to kill a character and doesn't do it well. I feel like this is one of those cases. Not to spoil much more. I mean really you shouldn't click this if you expect to avoid spoilers anyways.

Also, very disappointed that Liam is not playing the role.

Why be disappointed that it's not Liam Neeson? It's a totally separate universe.

Presumably referring to how Neeson had said that he'd be totally down to do the role again, even for TV. Of course, I doubt the CW could really afford him, so...

It's better to go a different direction since this Ra's al Ghul is clearly going to be different.

I was surprised by the sudden death in it.

While I also would love to see Neeson reprise the role I agree with Brandon.

I was surprised by the sudden death in it.

I honestly was not and honestly I found the episode pretty lacking.

Considering Sara is a completely new machination of the show where traditionally Laurel/Dinah is the Black Canary. Even at the beginning of the episode I noticed they had lightened Laurel's hair to be a tad more blonde. Pretty sure she'll become Black Canary in the future.

This show, while it has improved, is still one of the most predictable shows on television. A friend keeps asking me to watch it with her, and every single time, I'm predicting literally everything that's going to happen.

The show could also afford to stop taking itself so damn seriously all the time.

If it isn't taking itself seriously it is actively trying to point out how silly its comic book roots are. Which is why I thought the new Flash first episode was a bit better, personally, they seem a lot more willing to connect to said material.

The show doesn't feel self aware enough for me to think it's doing that tbh. It feels like it's still digging itself out of the "Batman Begins clone muck" so it can fully embrace it's inherent elements.

I'd like to think it could eventually and fully get to that point, but it's not there yet.

I read it from situations whenever they mention things like "The League of Assassins" and then when informing people of them everyone treats it like a joke. Same goes for when introducing Bronze Tiger.

I think the show has come a long way(the first season only being good for laughs for me), but to me it comes down to juggling the encroaching meta characters. Season 2 had the super strong guys and that was somewhat swallowable within the Arrow show (though I know people who rolled their eyes), but they didn't bother to show Barry using super speed this episode when he contacts Oliver. Which I can get that they didn't want to show the same scene twice from Flash, but if anyone hadn't seen the Flash first episode that scene was kind of out of nowhere and got no follow up. It also seems weird in the place it is. Olly basically getting rejected then going to have a conversation with Barry about hope and what kind of hero he should be.

I'll wait to see what they do with Ray Palmer and if they actually show him using powers eventually this season.

Like I said, it's not there yet and the show has some seriously terrible writing, but it could get there.

I'll give some credit to the cameramen and fight choreographers on this show though, compared to a lot of television and even film, they do some really great work. It's the only element of the show that I find genuinely endearing.

I'd agree on the fighting. Even first season I was enjoying the combat.

It's the long tracking shots, nuanced choreography with some actual flow to it and the clever editing that really sells it.

It feels like an actual fight is taking place. I can say without a shadow of doubt that the fight scenes in this show are ten times better than the fight scenes from any of Nolan's Batman films, which considering the budgets involved, is pretty pathetic tbh.

Johnny - The Flash will be in an episode of Arrow soon. 8th or 9th. I believe super powers are involved.

Still sad they didn't make Flash and Arrow part of one television block. Would have been neat for the crossover.

I thought they would've. Like was said earlier, it was weird to have the scene with Barry in the Arrow premiere, especially when it aired the night after The Flash premiere. If Arrow was on first and then The Flash followed it, that would've been a neat tie-in.

Though the transition between the two scenes is a bit jarring. Oliver and Felicity "break up," and then Oliver goes to see Barry and is all smiles and talking about how Barry can be [ST]Superman[/ST] an inspiration to Central City. Obviously The Flash premiere was filmed long before they wrote the Arrow 3 premiere, so I think Arrow could've handled that better. Cool idea, bit of a sloppy execution.

I think we both just need to accept some day that people aren't as smart as us.

Is this show better than Smallville?
