AT-ST
Description: The Jedi Order has been at a distinct disadvantage when fielding troops against the more established militarizes of the Empire and Mandalorians. The Council has come to the realization the Order needs weaponry capable of delivering their soldiers and Jedi Knights into the field, while standing toe to toe with other heavy artillery. This is the primary purpose behind the development of the AT-ST. The heavy walker was under construction shortly before the collapse of the Republic and the plans were delivered into Jedi hands. After 5 long years of research and development, the AT-ST is ready to be launched into the galaxy.
The AT-ST's primary weapons are two forward mounted heavy tubro laser. The heavy turbo lasers are capable of punching through most lightly armored vehicles and delivering heavy damage to larger armored vehicles. The AT-ST was designed with versatility in mind. The array of laser canon and missile launchers give the AT-ST a weapon for every situation. It is not extraordinarily designed to focus on one specific type of unit. The AT-ST is capable of engaging air forces, ground infantry units, light armor, and heavy armor. This lack of a specialization means the AT-ST is not elite in respect to defeating one particular type of unit. However, the forward facing heavy turbo lasers are perfect for engaging heavily fortified areas. Enemy encampments, walls, and shields are vulnerable to the fire power of the heavy turbo lasers. The walker was designed to be able to engage across a variety of worlds and a variety of enemies.
The crew size is relatively small. The pilot directs the AT-ST from the "head" of the walker. The gunners control banks of laser canons from the belly of the beast, and the navigator surveys the scene from a small command station in the center of the walker. They are able to fully control the AT-ST with concerted effort. The walker can safely carry about 30 troops. The AT-ST can be loaded with 20 trooper and 4 AT-RTs for rapid deployment. A compliment of AT-RTs is frequently found with the AT-ST. The troops or AT-RTs deploy from the walker through the back loading ramp. This allows for rapid deployment of a squadron from the walker.
The heaviest armor (as indicated above) is around the head and body of the walker. The neck and legs are more lightly armored to allow ease of movement. However, the designers did take this weakness into consideration and reinforced the legs/neck where possible. Those two points of the walker are a weakness but not one that is easily exploitable. The area can still take a fair about of damage before succumbing to failure.
Finally, the AT-ST is certainly not breaking any land speed records, traveling at 60 KPH. The walker is slightly faster than it's Imperial counterpart but still moves relatively slowly. The AT-ST was designed for safe transport, not necessarily fast transport, and siege capabilities. The body sits on 4 mechanical legs that keep it balanced and moving forward. The AT-ST is capable of moving across nearly any terrain with relative ease because of the legs.

The walker will serve as one of the Jedi’s primary units when conducting full scale military operations against the Empire or Mandalorians. This is meant to be the companion unit of the AT-RT.
