DESCRIPTION
The AT-RT, known formally as the All-Terrain Reconnaissance Transport or more commonly as the Scout Walker, is an ultralight combat walker manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards, and originally developed for the Grand Army of the Republic. In use primarily during the Clone Wars, the AT-RT was intended for use in environments not suited for light repulsorcraft such as speeder bikes. This light, open-topped design was piloted by a single trooper, and could maintain speeds of up to 75 kph over level ground, although it was nimble and responsive enough that it wasn't much slower even over rough terrain. It was well armed to boot; equipped with a repeating blaster cannon in a fully traversable chin turret and a 10-shot grenade launcher, it could take on most enemy vehicles short of a tank. It was even fitted with sound bafflers, reducing the noise it produced to not much more than the average speeder bike and making it surprisingly stealthy.

The AT-RT served with distinction through the Clone Wars, with many clones who rode them preferring the bipedal vehicle to conventional repulsorcraft. After war's end, however, the type was rapidly taken out of service by the new Galactic Empire, being replaced by larger, heavier scout walkers such as the 3-man AT-ST design. Surplus AT-RTs were widely available on the civilian market, and with their weapons removed, they became the genesis of an all new off-road sport vehicle subculture.

In the present day, AT-RTs are difficult to find, but not impossible. Refitting them to military spec is not hard, but is generally frowned upon on civilized planets.

LEGALITY
Legal. The AT-RT in its disarmed state is broadly considered a sport vehicle, and is thus not restricted on most worlds. Refitting them to military spec may be, however.

INTENT
To bring a vehicle from Canon into our site's fanon, and to create a standard ultralight combat walker.
