DESCRIPTION
The Automatic Conqueror was, at one time, the pinnacle of military technology in the Galaxy. Designed by the science-slaves of a pre-Republic dictator, and reportedly fine-tuned by the conqueror himself, these kiirium-plated monstrosities were some of the deadliest, most sophisticated combat automata of their day, and formed the ranks of the fabled and reviled Automatic Conquest Corps.
During the dictator's reign, ACs - as they were called - were churned out in vast quantities by the factory worlds of his empire. Mistrustful of his organic soldiers, and wishing to secure the unquestioning loyalty and invincibility of his armed forces, the dictator sought to build one of the Galaxy's earliest droid armies. Strong, durable and versatile, the ACs were a gleaming symbol of the dictator's power. Each unit was enormously costly, quickly draining the empire's considerable coffers with every one that marched off the assembly line, but the dictator would spare no expense.

ACs were designed as unstoppable heavy infantry. Sheathed in blast-proof kiirium armor and bristling with weapons, they dominated the battlefields of the day, ideally suited to the grinding set-piece trench wars which at that time characterized the average ground assault. Impervious to the feeble slug-throwers and beam-tubes wielded by conventional infantry, they were semi-autonomous in nature, guided by a simplistic cognitive matrix and a built-in high-density punch-card reader used to load battlefield information and strategic directives. Unlike some later war droids, ACs were designed to perform multiple battlefield roles, and all units had basic combat engineer, starship crewer and pilot functionality in addition to their infantry programming.
ACs could also be used to perform interrogations; equipped with a primitive mind probe - a device used in more sophisticated forms by modern interrogator droids - this device could feed simulated brain waves into an organic subject at point-blank range, inducing involuntary physical reactions which could be read and analyzed to determine a positive or negative response to questioning, although disciplined individuals could learn to suppress these reactions. The mind probes carried by Automatic Conquerors were used on prisoners to inquire about certain skill-sets which would be useful to the ACC.
Like most droids, ACs left without a memory wipe could accumulate combat experience and develop more sophisticated autonomous behavior; this could lead to insubordinate behavior, however, and thus memory purges were a matter of routine.
ACs could also be guided by an organic officer at a "command podium," which provided a battlefield commander with detailed tactical information and enhanced communications, being equipped with a high-powered encrypted comlink system and a (for the day) sophisticated battle computer, capable of formulating and executing tactical decisions without organic input, if necessary. The podium also allowed a commander - or the battle computer - to look through the photoreceptors of any individual AC, or even to assume direct control of them.

ACs were powered by a type of compact sealed fission unit which has since fallen out of common use. Although powerful and enduring enough to supply energy for millennia, they cost twice as much as the rest of the AC's components put together, and had to be disposed of once their fuel was finally expended. These devices were also designed to be extremely safe, and were armored to an even greater degree than the droids they powered. Being completely self-contained, they were designed to resist being opened, and had multiple redundant safety systems to prevent a catastrophic meltdown, either accidental or induced.

In the modern day, ACs are not quite the threat they once were. Modern pulse-wave weapons and blasters have begun to render their once impervious armor vulnerable, although they are still considered thickly armored and extremely durable. Likewise, their centralized control system - while reliable and difficult to jam - is increasingly obsolete. The droids - when subjected to regular memory wipes - are noted as not being particularly creative, and will follow the instructions relayed by their command podium to the letter.
ACs are also slow and ponderous, meant for slower-paced warfare over modern tactics. They can be outrun by the average humanoid, although their numerous weapons generally cannot...

LEGALITY
Restricted. Ownership of ACs is subject to restrictions in nearly all civilized systems. Aside from existing laws covering the private ownership of combat droids, the age of the ACs has also made them subject to laws governing antiquities in some jurisdictions. It is, of course, extremely unlikely that any being would have the opportunity to acquire an AC in the first place, given the nature of these droids.

INTENT
These droids are intended to form the backbone of a piece of site lore I intend to submit, the Automatic Conquest Corps. ACs could serve as a non-aligned NPC adversary for characters and factions to fight, and I believe make a nice item to flesh out the pre-Darkness history of warfare in the Galaxy.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. ACs are by no means a readily available piece of technology; acquiring one would be extremely difficult, and would more than likely involve fighting an army of other ACs to do so.

Tech Admin note: the use of AC droids should occur only as part of a carefully planned and approved plot in an appropriate setting.

Glad you like it! Came up with the idea in passing awhile back after reading the Despotica. Xim the Despot was one of my favorite subjects in the old canon, and I figured his war-robots could be so much more.

Have added a sub-submission detailing the features of an ACC command podium; can be found in the Automatic Conqueror's description.

Alright, I'll start with the tech notes.

You'll need to have a detailed description of the effects off the mind probe, Pulse Wave Cannons, and cutting lasers, or alternatively create separate submissions for them. I'd also like you to add heavy armor to the description, so that it's clear when it comes to PvP that these things have normal armor protection ratings.

Also, if the command podium is an important piece of tech that merits a submission, I would prefer it be posted separately.

Now for Lore:

After consulting with the resident lore masters, we've determined the history of these machines will need to be adjusted. It's unlikely that Xim's war bots would exist 19,000 or so years after his Empire's death in this manner. What you could do is keep it much the same and go with "unnamed prerepublic warlord" or something of that nature, or have them based on Xim's design (since he is sort of canon now) and create your own lore for their origin. Either way, I'd like you to try to trim down the length of the submission just a smidge- it's a bit long, and some of it could probably go in the lore article you mentioned.

I like the concept and design though. I'm excited to see the Corps in action.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions; I've added descriptions of the mind probe's effects and added heavy armor to the list of equipment. I added damage types and ranges for the pulse-wave cannons; essentially, they're just pulse-wave rifles.
I've also trimmed away most of the superfluous lore and taken out all references to Xim; I'll be re-posting the lore with the official lore submission later on.
I've also created a separate submission for the command podium here.

Hope that all helps!

I still need something for the cutting lasers- some sources portray them more like an arc welder, while some sources make it look like a ranged weapon. I need to know their capabilities on this model and what they are used for. Mind probes look good- just an old torture device- and the cannons look good.

I would like a sentence or two about the power source and its safeties and limitations if you could. Specifically, I don't want someone to try to abuse it by turning these things into walking nuclear bombs.

And, one last question- how long are we talking with the long range comms system? Modern galactic infrastructure might not support intergalactic communications with this old tech. I would think it would be more local between their ships/emplacements. No more than a system, probably.

Approved.

In addition to the advanced tech tag, I'm adding the caveat that their use in RP in any significant way will require an approved plot or thread. I dont want these to get out of hand.
