Knowing if we have a level of technology being modern is agreed with everyone would help. I got some character pics to use, depending on how far we are into the future.

Lurk away Deviant!

So I've got my earth bender look narrowed down to 2 that I think should work in any setting we go with.

The bottom looks more modernn depends on what you are going for. And what your character believes, whether he wants to progress with the future or stay true to the 'Old Ways'.

For the airbenders i kinda want to stay true to the 'monk' look. Like even today in our current times the monks mainly dress and act as they did centuries ago. Sure they may have access to say phones but they still tend to stay true to their ancestors and stuff (i have had the chance to stay with monks when i was stationed in korea)

Dev, you are right, you are late, but I can make an exception on one condition; you have to be an evil guy (I.e. One of Crow or BN's Generals).

Hello, as some of you may have noticed, I have not been paying much attention to this, and there is a reason. I just don't have the time to do it. So, I will be appointing @Talon maara as the GM, and will be resigning, I may join in at a later time, but I just have too much stuff going on. Good Luck, and I'll let Talon have the floor.

AVATAR MEI

NAME: Avatar Mei
AGE: 27
GENDER: Female
Occupation: Avatar
Nationality: Air Nomad
[/fancybox4]
Abilities:

Mei has successfully master Air bending, but still needs work on the other three elements. She can perform the basics and understands the fundamentals, but still has a long way to go before she is considered a master.

Appearance:

Mei weighs approx 130 lbs and stands at five feet four. She has gentle black hair and deep brown eyes. Like all monks of the Air nomads, she wears robes that reflect the selfless and peaceful nature of her clan. Upon becoming an official master of her trade, she received her Air bender tattoos which she decorated the right side of her body to. They start from her ankle and go all the way up across her head.

Personality:

Mei has never really been a strong fighter. As an Air nomad, Mei was comfortable accepting a life of peace and quiet, always giving to those in need before her own desires. However, when she was given the news that she was to the the Avatar, everything changed. Suddenly everyone wished to teach her new things, mostly fighting. She hated every second of it. Though bending the elements came naturally to her, she disliked having to use them in combat where someone would get hurt. Mei was never cut out to be a fighter so she often would not try her hardest in her practice sessions. She intentionally lost her fights or got herself hurt so that she someone else wouldn't have to.

Outside of the ring, Mei is a friendly person. She can be quiet and shy at first, but is always welcoming and kind to all people. She is always the first one to lend a helping hand no matter the cost. Her teachers told her kindness is a noble act, but one's shoulders could only carry so many burdens. Mei never cared. She would break her back if it meant she could save at least one person of their troubles. Maybe that's why she truly deserved to be the Avatar.

Biography:

How does one become the Avatar? Being born into it is only a condition. For twelve years I have been training to become the world's Avatar. It has been a tough journey. Let me start from the beginning. I was born into a family of Air nomads, that's monk speak for air benders. The nomads of old were much more peaceful than those of today. Times have changed. The air nation is still only getting back on its feet. Avatar Aang was the last great Air Bender and he left behind a strong legacy. Now the cycle has returned again and it's my job to continue rebuilding the Air nation. Sorry, I'm getting sidetracked again. My apologies.

My family was a peaceful family who carried on the noble traditions of Air nomads. I'm the youngest child of three. My eldest brother (Talon) is 15 years older than I. My sister was born four years later. She sadly passed away in her infant years during a terrible snow storm. My parents were unsure if they wanted to try again, so they waited several years. My brother used to tease me that I was an accident. Well jokes on him because I get to be the Avatar. I shouldn't say things like that. I'm sorry, brother.

I love my brother. I always have. But I don't think he likes me. In fact I know it to be so. He's jealous of me. He's jealous because I got chosen to be the Avatar. Well not really chosen. If you believe what the stories say I'm just reincarnated as another person. I don't feel like anyone else. I guess I'm not that spiritually connected to the others yet. My trainings aren't really going well for me. It's not that I don't want to be the Avatar, it's just....I don't like fighting. Ok. There. I said it. I'm sorry. I was taught to believe in peace and harmony. Selfless acts which only helped others. That's how I was raised. Now you're telling me I may have to physically knock sense into some brawlers or even worse, go to war with another country? It's like these people don't know me at all.

Ok. Back to my story. Air bending came easy. I was already an Air bender when the White Lotus came and told me the truth. So learning and mastering my people's way of life...well that was a no brainer. Except for the fighting part. I still don't like that. Sorry. Anyways. Water came pretty easy too. It was like moving the air around me...just with water. I don't know. I think that's pretty cool. Earth was hard. I could not get Earth. They say it's too unlike my Air...proficiency. I think that's what they called it. I'm told even Avatar Aang had trouble with Earth bending. Well I don't know how you figured it out Aang but I could use some guidance. And then there's Fire. I can control Fire! How cool is that?! I love making it dance in my hands. Sorry I'm being weird again.

Well that's my story. Things have been pretty simple for me. All the other Avatars had some big, challenging, life-altering thing happen to them. I guess I'm still waiting for mine to come. Not that I'm looking for trouble or anything. No thank you. But I am ready to share myself with the world. I'm Avatar Mei. Um....Nice to meet you.

There, Durjaya learned he could bend water, and started his training to become a Pro-Bender. View attachment 3399 NAME: Koda
AGE: 42
GENDER: Male
Occupation: Airbending Instructor
Nationality: Air Nomad
Wepons: Airbending, hand to hand, Large bladed gunbai, two hand held double bladed war fans.
View attachment 3403View attachment 3404

Abilities:
Bending: Koda is an improving master of airbending, but like all masters has 'room for improvement'. As a child growing up his main focus has been spirituality which has resulted in him achieving the knowledge of spiritually projecting ones self.

Non-bending: Koda is an adept hand to hand combatant, to include utilizing his large Bladed Gunbai when needed.
View attachment 3400
Appearance:
He shaves his head in honor of their ancestors and their way of life, and he is blind resulting in his eyes being a light grey. Koda weighs approx 190 lbs of lean compacted muscle and stands at 5 foot 11. Like all the other Air nomads, he wears the traditional red and yellow robes.

Personality:
Koda unlike his younger sibling has based his life around the Defensive arts of their nation, but do not let his defensive stance fool you, he still remains a threat in the offense. As an Air nomad, Koda was never too comfortable accepting a life of peace and quiet, his heart loved to travel and experience the neighboring nations cultures. However, when he got word of his sister Mei being recognized as the Avatar he returned home in anger seeing as he would rather keep tabs on his sisters progress than remaining in the dark. Withh all the potential the Avatar bore, Koda constantly attempted to teach his sister many hand to hand forms but he could tell she despised said act which in turn made him despise her abilities even more. Thinking to himself that she was a waste of power. He hated seeing his sister fake her way out of disputes and training, he could tell she never wanted to be present in the sessions. Regardless of his acts and showmanship, he deep down always loved and cared for his sister.

Relationships:
Mei - younger sister

Biography:
View attachment 3401
As a child growing up i always had a problem fitting in, seeing as i was born with the inability to see. I had to grow up fast, faster than most in fact, defending myself from bullies and even had to prove myself a worthy bender to attend the training sessions.

I grew up a few years an only child, until the day my sister was born. Caring for her i tried my best to teach her the ways of our people and raise her right. But to no avail, i lost her and thats where it all began....several years later of watching my parents in pain and anguish i found out my mother was having one more child. 'A son a baby brother' i begged our ancestors in hopes to receive someone i could be rough and tough to growing up. But to my dismay....a daughter....a sister....in my mind i felt she would try to replace her....try and fill the gap but she didnt.....i despised my new sister they called Mei....she would never replace my lost blood....why would my parents do this to me?!...

As children growing up i tended to place both blame and shame on Mei, saying she was the 'oops child' but deep down i still loved her. She was family after all.

Once i became of age i left my home friends and family and sat out traveling, 'broadening my knowledge of our possible enemies'....psh that was just the lie i told everyone. Truth be told i wanted to get away from home and be my own person...not what they told me to be. After a few years of traveling across the nations i got word my younger sibling had been noticed as the avatar....BAH!.....how could it be possible you say?!.....that i don't know either....but i returned home....to help aid in 'The Avatars' training.....

My anger, hate and resentment towards my sister has placed a barrier between us....but instead of leaving once more....for....self developmental reasons....i stayed home.....to assist in her training, instructions and....well her mentor until we can utilize her properly....

Personality
Jin is a patriot who feels that it is his duty to help the Earth Kingdom Reunite under the banner of the New Earth Kingdom, and is proud of his service in the Earth Self Defense Force. He is a bit cocky and can come off as roguish in his demeanor, often taking a more lax approach to authority and manners, and conducting himself in a relaxed way. Egalitarian in view, and with a bold and daring personality, Jin has no problem with tearing aside tradition or sacred places if it means obtaining his goal, being a very goal oriented individual. There is pain and sorrow behind his happy antics, and his smiles often feel hollow or not genuine. Despite his antics, Jin believes in conforming to the law of the land, and holds the law to a high degree, to the point where he sometimes ignores his bending abilities out of a desire to fit in more. Jin is self reliant, and self-driven, and sees it as his duty to help keep the peace, and stomp out any opposition to the New Earth Kingdom.

Relationships:
  • -Pending-

Biography:

Born to a prominent family within republic city, Jin's heritage could be seen as something of a blessing, as well as a curse. The great grandson of Avatar Korra's longtime companion and friend, Bolin, and linked to the royal family of Zaofu, Opal Bei Fong, such a prestigious honor would be an honor, albeit an obscure one. However, Jin is also the child of Avatar Saika, the Fire Avatar of this generation who died when Jin was just being born, attempting to keep peace between the spirits of Wu Kong Desert and the Humans of the Earth Empire. Jin was raised on stories of his family, and the pressure upon him to live up to their expectations was suffocating. There was pressure as well for Jin to abandon his roots, as bending was becoming more and more of a frowned upon art in the earth kingdom, with the rise of technology and with it, power for non-benders to strike more effectively then benders.

His mother was of Earth Kingdom descent, and did her best to raise him to be like his father, but in the end, tried to force Jin to live up to the legacy of her late husband, resorting to harsh physical punishment whenever he would fail in the slightest, and had little sympathy for him when he was bullied, instead merely feeding a delusion that others were simply jealous of his untapped greatness. His mothers mental state deteriorated by grief and the pressure of raising her son, and his very limited bending ability, and eventually she became ill, and passed away. Jin was taken in by relatives in Omashu, who tried to raise him as a normal, modern family. They gave him his mothers maiden name to help him avoid recognition, and for a time it worked.

The acceptance and breif normalcy helped Jin greatly, but it also feed into a need for positive reinforcement and a desire to belong that bordered on an addiction. One day however, when a truck went out of control and nearly struck Jin, he threw out his arms out of instinct and caused the truck to melt down into the molten sidewalk, discovering his latent lavabending powers, and with it, his belief that he would be rejected by his peers once more. Instead, he was taken from the school at a young age and drafted into a special program by Omashu's government, in order to help train him as a solider. With the use of positive reinforcement techniques and the best psychologist in the kingdom, they helped to change Jin's view of the world. The state itself was his new parents, and its approval or scorn was what now mattered to him.

He and other high potential benders were deployed on the front lines against their southern neighbors, and then towards the North-east, earning the wrath of the Fire Nation Protectorate who had sworn to help the lands around Republic City. Jin had little qualm attacking the city who in his eyes drove his old family and life into despair, and unleashed his full powers onto the battlefield, resulting in the loss of life for both the fire nation units of what was left of the United Forces, as well as injuring the kingdoms own soliders. Jin became devastated by his actions, and it left him wide open for a surprise attack from a surviving firebender, who severely burned his torso and arms.

It took years of recovery for Jin to return to active service, and once he did, he changed his tactics significantly. Adopting the use of the new experimental long range firearms, Jin led the charge as a marksman in the New Earth Kingdoms army, its capital in Omashu, and in a war against the Earth Empire of the North, its captial in Ba Sing Se, as well as the Free Earth Nations of the West. Under him, were benders who utilized their skills in long range combat, and in pursuit of enemies to the Kingdom, their unit being dubbed The Shirshu Brigade due to their relentless pursuit and hunting down of their enemies. Jin himself swore to not use his bending unless he absolutely had to, and has since become a ranked officer on the outskirts of the kingdoms territories.

The current foes they face are airbenders, and the avatar who is said to be seeking out a master in their own territory. Such a being could pose a threat to the earth kingdom, and until they were made an earthbender once more, Jin has made it his mission to seek them out, and destroy them.

  • Name: Bào Zhà
  • Nickname/s:
  • Age: 27
  • Gender: Male
  • Occupation: Mercenary
  • Nationality: Fire Nation
Abilities:
  • Non-Bending: Bào is a military-trained sapper, skilled with a wide range of explosives and tools. A dedicated field engineer, he is knowledgeable about a wide range of technologies both present and past. He is also skilled in hand-to-hand combat and has a basic knowledge of chi-paths. He is also shockingly skilled in strategy, both practical and in games like Pai Sho.

Appearance:
  • Physical features: A fairly tall, well built young man with spiky red hair and stubble.
  • Standard clothing: Bào normally wears a loose red, black, and gold outfit reminiscent of old Fire Nation civilian clothes, usually with pieces of light combat armor on top.
  • Defining features: His hands and torso sport a variety of burns and scars. He will also occasionally dawn a gas mask for missions.

Personality
  • Good Traits/Habits: Bào is highly dedicated and focused when he wants to be, if he says he is going to get something done, he will succeed. Fearless and inventive, he is an outside the box thinker and a cunning tactician. He cares more about people as individuals than Nations, creeds, or factions. A staunch pragmatist, he is a born problem solver and always tries to focus on the here-and-now.
  • Bad Traits/Habits: In classic Fire Nation style, Bào is hot-tempered and impetuous, eager to fight and just as eager to win. He displays a grand total of zero respect for most people and is highly irreverent towards people of authority. Since he is living as a mercenary, he tends to follow the money unless there is something big at stake. He is also prone to overthinking problems and looking bizarre solutions.
  • Likes: Explosives, when things he makes work, tea, non-benders, getting paid, Pai Sho
  • Dislikes: Benders, people touching his stuff, being stiffed, when his devices fail, when his plans fail too.
  • Hobbies: Pai Sho
  • Strengths: High intellect, pragmatic, military and Equalist training, chemistry expertise
  • Weaknesses: Reckless, over-thinker, non-bender, possible tea addiction
  • Fears: Losing his sister, becoming like his sister, flying insects.

Relationships:
  • Affiliations/Alliances: Whoever is paying him currently
  • Family:
    • Huǒhuā Zhà (Younger Sister): Currently fighting with the New-Equalists
    • Huī Zhà (Mother): Status unknown
    • Chōuyān Zhà (Father): Status unknown
  • Friends:
  • Romantic Interest/s:
  • Enemies:

Biography:
Born to a poor family deep in the urban Fire Nation, Bào's prospects were not great. Escpecially considering his family's ties to both the original Equalists, and the Neo-Equalist movement. Despite this, the young man still managed to find fun and humor in everyday life, especially after the birth of his younger sister when he was four. The two were inseparable, with Huǒhuā becoming something akin to her brother's shadow, following him everywhere he went.

While their parents were no longer with the anti-bender movement, they still instilled their ideals into their children, along with skills and training. Initially both children were passionate about the the Equalist cause, however, over time Bào began to question the legitimacy of his parent's teachings. Perhaps he was too old when they started trying to indoctrinate him, or it was because a bender had never directly done him harm. Regardless of the reason, a rift soon began to form between Bào and his beloved sister, who held the Equalist philosophy as dogma.

After a few years, Huǒhuā became tired, of both doing nothing and being constantly questioned by her brother. Striking off on her own, she went to join the newest incarnation of the Equalists. Bào on the other hand, decided to take what his parents had taught him and try to apply it in a better way. Namely, in the Republic military. It was here, ironically, that the Equalist rhetoric he had grown up with seemed to ring true. Benders more often than not got priority positions over non-benders, and when he finally saw combat enemy benders, he was horrified at what both the enemy and his allies could really do. Chaffing under orders and fearing the benders around him, Bào dropped out of the army and began taking small private work.

His only hope now is to survive, to find a way to see the next dawn. And maybe find a reason to want that in the first place.

Okoju hated to see the hoops she had to jump through just to provide them enough to eat, This led him to learn how to feed himself and his mother off the land, learning to track, hunt, and gather enough food to help them live comfortably.

Growing up:

Okoju and his mother continued to live this way for many years, living in relative comfort. It was around his 12th birthday that his bending powers began to manifest. Unfortunately his mother could not teach him or afford to provide lessons for him. Undeterred Okoju began to teach himself how to bend, and actually becoming quite good at it. This led to a bit of a rough style but one that more than enough to help him get by.

Around 8 years later Okoju began to be bored by his simple life, he wanted to see more of what the world had to offer him, though he couldn’t leave his mother to fend for herself. Some months later a group of thugs that had been hassling many of the people in the area came to Okoju’s small home when he was out hunting. They demanded any valuables that were in the house. His mother pleaded that they had nothing, but the thugs wouldn’t take no for an answer. They left Okoju’s mother beaten and alone until Okoju returned. She was too old to survive her wounds and passed in Okoju’s arms. Tears in his eyes he vowed vengeance. Tracking the thugs down he set about it beating them all except for the leader, who was a powerful earth bender, even able to bend metal. This proved too much of a challenge for Okoju, he was beaten after an entense battle. The gang leader stood before him ready to deliver the final blow, but Okoju managed to reach out with his remaining chi and bend the metal in the leader’s necklace to finish him.

After this Okoju buried his mother next to his father and he set out on his journey to see the world and what it had to offer him.

Where they are at present:

Now Okoju wanders aimlessly putting the past behind him. He doesn’t dwell on the past, he simply likes to look ahead with a carefree attitude. Wondering what will be next for him on his road, and relaxing all the while.
