Reaching to get the glass of Blue milk from the Jedi, Bastila smiled and said “My first Blue Milk on the Tython. Thanks Kidd.” The young Padawan walked close to the Jedi as they approached the counter. She stopped walking so close to the Jedi only after she took her share of the Blue Milk. Most folks in the room just smiled and nodded as Kidd and Bastila made their way through the building.

To Starr’s surprise the Blue Milk was almost close to the fresh milk she had in abundance at Naboo. “No place like home,” said the young Padawan as she took another sip of the Blue Milk. “Thank you for the milk. I am already getting used to this place.” The young Padawan continued as Kidd pointed towards there next destination on the tour of the building.

The Jedi headed towards the corridor after they got their drinks. “Apparently we will be drinking as we walk. Nope, this Jedi does not believe in sitting and enjoying the moment” thought Bastila as the pair approached where Kidd said is the sleeping quarter. Starr had to ask the Jedi a question (more like a clarification) after the Kidd pointed out that this corridor was among the section dedicated to the Master and occasional Senior Knight Starr. “So, Kidd” she smiled ‘did you say the Tython is home? Or did I hear you wrong?” As the Starr waited for the Jedi’s response, she smoothed the lose hair that came out from her braided hair

Kidd wasn't too surprised that it was lost on his young padawan, the irony of his door having the KID carved into it, playing about. Oh well, perhaps another time, he thought to himself as they walked past and through the large entryway, to the other side of the monastery where the rooms continued around three sides, but not the fourth, as that was mostly administrative and janitorial areas.

Bobbing his head lightly after taking a drink of his blue milk, the cool liquid flowed smoothly down his throat as he swallowed and replied, "Yes, Tython -is- my home. I was born an' raised here." With a contented sigh, he added, "Been here most m'life an' as far as I'm concerned, don't mind the idea of stayin' 'ere for th' rest of it neither." Smiling happily, he glanced briefly over the padawan and gave her a wink.

Rounding the corner, he pointed just up along the eastern hallway, "Your room is just up at the far end of this hallway here, close to the corner up a ways." Looking over at her, he raised his eyebrows as he added, "They probably dropped your stuff off already as well, so when we walk in, if you wanna take some time to sort things out, feel free." The Padawans' rooms weren't the most expansive, but they were roomy enough, if simple.

The young Padawan did not think much of the Jedi when he mentioned something about a room (his room) with “a small boy playing carved into the woodwork." Bastila figured such information was just too much. Walking past the other rooms, Starr said to the Jedi “you have an interesting sense of humor for a Jedi Knight. The smirk on your face also tells me you’ve got more dry humor coming.”

As the pair approached another corner of the hallway, Bastila was glad to hear that her room is located in that same vicinity, and that her things were in her room. She raised the glass of Blue Milk and thanked the Jedi as they parted their ways, for now. “See you at supper Kidd.”

Elated that she can finally have a few moments to herself, Bastila waited for Kidd to walk away, and then off she went – to look for her room. “Oh? This is a rather simple living area” exclaimed the young Padawan as she entered her room. To her surprise all her belongings were sitting in the room. She only brought nine medium size traveling suitcases. Two for her books, mostly classic books on the Jedi order passed on to her by her father. One of the suitcases contained all her beauty and hair essentials. The remaining six suitcases contained her clothes. The young Pawadan went straight to the suitcase with her books and unpacked the books. She took The Jedi Order book out, headed to her bed, and continued off where she had left off prior to her arrival to the Tython.

Completely engaged in her reading, Starr lost track of time and forgot all about supper plans, and her pan to go for a run in the forest. She quickly put the book down, fixed her belt and hair and headed out back to the main lobby area hoping that she would run into the Jedi.

In regards to her remark about his sense of humor, Kidd waved a dismissive hand as he replied, "Bah, I wouldn't want a life without a bit of fun and humor. B'sides, have you not heard that a merry heart does good like a medicine?" He quirked a humored look as he waggled his eyebrows at the attractive young Padawan. He most -certainly- was feeling merry and free. It helped immensely that he was back on his home planet of Tython. Immensely.

Upon departing, he offered her a light wave as he replied, "A'right Bastila. Supper i'tis." With that, Kidd walked out towards the great room and gestured towards a gaming table as he addressed a fellow Knight, "Care for a game of Dejarik?" Quirking an eyebrow, he awaited the positive response that was slow in coming. Clapping his hands once together, Kidd assumed a seat at the table as the fellow Knight, Bryce, did the same. The two went at it for a good hour at least before Kidd finally was bested.

Heaving a sigh as he observed the gaming board one last time in case he missed anything, Kidd stated, "Well-played Sir. Well-played." His head bobbed lightly as he gazed at the board for a few moments. Then, gesturing towards the cafeteria area, he inquired, "Care for a bite to eat?" The two had a late afternoon snack as they talked about training Padawans as well as upcoming missions. Kidd was reluctant to accept any missions just yet; not with his Padawan fresh from Coruscant and himself having hardly a real opportunity to test her.

Glancing over his shoulder, Kidd asked the Knight if he'd care for a re-match. Unfortunately, Bryce could not accept as his Padawan showed up for supper and they went off together to eat and work on some meditation techniques for the evening. Supper time came and went as K. Vegas waited for his Padawan to arrive... Finally, grunting lightly to himself, he arose and began to make his way towards his room. Perhaps she had gotten caught up in unpacking.

Thoroughly frosted that she can’t seem to locate Kidd Vegas, the young Padawan made her way up the Jedi quarters. “Had I set the alarm I wouldn’t be here walking the entire halls looking for Kidd. I should jut ask for help” she thought. Finally, she saw the door with the curved child, and remembered that Kidd has mentioned something similar on his door. Now feeling weird entering the male side of the living area, Bastila rang the bell on the door. Kidd opened the door and made his way out- while giving the young Padawan a slight smirk.

“Sorry about my tardiness. I lost track of time reading The Jedi Code” said Starr. Now leaning against the wall by Kidd’s front door, Vega’s comment’s earlier about life without humor crossed her mind. With that, Starr chuckled at the Jedi response about humor, and continued with what sounded like Starr’s lame way of diverting the issue at hand. Rather than explaining herself, she said to the Jedi, “frankly, I didn’t know what to expect of my master when I arrived. I can’t recollect the last time I laughed this many times in a single day. Glad that I was not assigned to some old trainer- I mean wise guy.” Bastila was now totally embarrassed by her comment. Though internally, she was quite happy that Kidd Vegas was her trainer. He seems like a pretty easy going fella too, unlike the old Jedi masters who don’t know how to crack a smile.

Now moving away from the wall, the young Padawan asked “do we still have time to complete the days work? I don’t really need to eat supper. And I am really a responsible person. Any repercussion that you see fit will be gladly welcomed.” Now completely embraced she stood in front of the door awaiting the Kidd’s response.

"Nonsense," Kidd replied as he pushed away from the wall, making his way towards the great room and eventually, the cafeteria area. Glancing over his shoulder to ensure that she was following along, he added, "I'm sure you feel bad enough about fouling up your first day. No sense in further punishment." Turning back about as he rounded a corner, gesturing ahead towards the far side of the great room where the food was, "Now, le's git you somethin' t'eat."

With that, he began to whistle a light tune as he walked along, glancing up at the openings far above as the evening sun was beginning to set. Perhaps he'd walk her out to the tables on the west side of the Monastery, so they might eat in peace as the skies alit with darker colors, signalling the night's coming. A sunset was a beautiful thing to behold; ESPECIALLY over a natural landscape. Krath, how he had missed these during his time on Coruscant.

Looking over to his padawan as they approached what little of a line there was for food, Kidd inquired of Bastila, "So what did you learn of the Jedi Code during your reading an' meditation this afternoon?" He assumed that she had also meditated upon the Code, as reading it was a small task, taking hardly more than a minute or two as it wasn't anything grandiose or lengthy. Perhaps she had been reading others excerpts on their reflections as pertaining to the Jedi Code as well... huh.

With a somber look, the young Padawan followed the Jedi to the cafeteria. She was rather surprised by her trainer’s response. What’s done is done. Now it is up to Bastila to make sure that she adheres to the given schedule. Kidd whistled a tune that was unfamiliar to the young one as they walked down the hall to supper. She listened intently, trying as best as she could, to recollect the tune.

The pair made their way inside the almost empty cafeteria. Starr followed only three steps behind Jedi Vegas. Upon arrival at the cafeteria ordering line, K. Vegas ordered a glass of Blue Milk, again, a few assortments of veggies and some sort of main course that looked very foreign to the young Padawan. “Veggie plate please, and a glass of water,” Starr said, with a smile, as she approached the server.

While the pair waited in line for their food, Bastila turned to face the Jedi and said “in response to your question- yes, I did learn a few things during my reading and meditating time- well mostly reading. The book I was reading, The Jedi Code, is an exhaustive compilation based on the meditations of Jedi Master Odan-Urr. Odan-Urr, unlike the average Jedi, served as a Jedi Librarian and thoroughly mastered the Jedi art of battle meditation. I discovered his workes through my father, and so far I am enthralled by the wisdom that illuminates from Dan-Urr’s writing. It’s as though my whole senses come alive when I read and meditate on his writings.”

Kidd smiled as all the food the pair ordered arrived. They both took their individual tray of food. Starr paused for a moment to see where the Jedi would sit before following suite. The Jedi proceeded to the tables on the west side of the Monastery. Starr smiled inwardly when she found out that they were heading towards one of the magnificent views on the Tython to eat. “Oh, and I am still working on mastering the five line Jedi mantra explained in the book I was reading earlier- [emotion, yet peace; ignorance, yet knowledge; passion, yet serenity; chaos, yet harmony; death, yet the Force] As you can tell from my performance so far, I have a long way to go,” said the young Padawan as she followed right next to the Kidd to sit down and “chowdown” their supper.

Shaking his head lightly, Kidd replied, "I don't see how your performance so far as shown -any- indication that you have a lack of grasp on the Jedi Code." Pursing his lips as he posed a thoughtful look, he asked aloud, "Does the mantra mention anything about timeliness or standing up your mentor for supper?" With that last part, he gave her a playful wink before picking up one of his two hot, greasy sliders. Krath were they good...

While chewing down his bite, the Knight looked over towards the direction of the setting sun. Such a thing of beauty. So peaceable. Tranquil. Soothing. He felt as though he could sit out and enjoy such a timeless sight for the rest of his days, heh. Quirking an eyebrow, Kidd turned his attentions back to the Padawan as he inquired, "Mind elaborating on some of his points that have struck a chord within?"

Unfortunately, Kidd himself hadn't taken the opportunity to read over and meditate upon the writings of Jedi Master Odan-Urr. It'd be interesting to hear first hand from his Padawan what she thought of them and what struck her within before reading over the workings himself. He took another large bite of a slider and lifted the glass of blue milk to his lips. Something about washing down the bite of slider with the milk that made the whole thing simply taste better.

Since Bastila has been known to chat away, she made a mental note not to chatter away at the Jedi. The young Padawan eat her meal in solitude until the Jedi said something to her. “My point exactly,” she said in response to Kidd. “I am working on my punctuality. If I can re-live the second half of this day, I will set my alarm before dinging in The Jedi Code book.”

The view on the west side of the Monastery was just absolutely beautiful. Sounds of birds filled the air and the sunset looked spectacular. Bastila continued to eat her veggie plate while watching the Jedi chow down what appeared to be a heart attack slider. “Kidd, if I may suggest; next time why don’t you order the same main course in the grilled version. You get the same tastes without the potential artery blocking-heart attack benefit” said the young Padawan with a rather serious look. One of Bastila’s pastimes is reading on healthy ways to improve on traditional made food. To her surprise, the jolly Jedi kept eating the greasy sliders in a rather mocking way. He furthermore, smirked at her and carried on completely oblivious to her healthy comment. “So much for helping you out,” thought Starr.

A couple of minutes went by before the Jedi said anything “Mind elaborating on some of his points that have struck a chord within?" Bastila wittily responded “I guess you mean from The Jedi Code book, not the books on healthy living, right?” She paused to take a sip of her water, and then continued “for starters The Jedi Code book is not just a book on the Jedi Mantra. The core of the book deals with other well known personalities and their thoughts on the original five Jedi Mantra. For example, on the first mantra, [emotion, yet peace] to me means although emotions are natural part of living, the Jedi are neither excluded nor immune from expressing emotions. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi’s recorded expression at the discovery of death of the young at the hands of evil is a perfect example that further explains this point. The first Jedi Mantra isn’t to say that emotion does not exist, nor is it to be suppressed, but rather it ought to be set aside at the appropriate time.” The young Padawan took another sip of her drink, and then moved her half empty plate to the side to rest her hands on the table.

Picking up his napkin and dabbing at the sides of his mouth, Kidd commented upon the padawan's words regarding his meal, "You're rather quick t'judge a person based solely off of one meal t'gether. Don't y'think Padawan?" He quirked an inquisitive eyebrow. When he was first selected to be Knight Cnile's padawan, the first thing he did -not- do was try to correct her or offer her any advice... on anything.

Lifting the top bun from off of the remaining slider, Kidd revealed what lie beneath to the young Padawan, "An' this -is- the grilled version. It's th' cheese an' copious amounts of grilled onions tha' I like atop it tha' makes it look so greasy." With that, he happily placed the bun back atop his Mongo beefhead slider and began to finish it off as he listened to her go on about the Jedi Code and such.

Folding his hands as he listened attentively, Kidd glanced briefly over a shoulder just as the sun was about to fully go down. When she was done, he held up a hand towards her, indicating a momentary pause to the discussion. "Here, le's watch this las' bit of it go down." With that, he turned his chair about and faced towards the colorfully splayed horizon. The view was simply incredible. Krath was he glad to be back on Tython. It was the little things...

Once the great sun had gone down under, completely hidden from view, Kidd sighed contentedly as he nodded his head lightly, "Quite the sight. I could watch that a thousand times and still desire to view the next with as much anticipation as I should've liked to view the first." After a moment's pause, he began to collect up both of their dinnerware settings, clearing the table as he did so.

"Tonite," he began, "I'd like you to meditate upon the values of patience, silent observation, and judgment." With his hands full, he scooted his chair back in with his foot. Smiling warmly, he added, "Come the morrow, late morning, we'll meet again an' take a walk through the forest, discussing your night's meditations." He didn't say anything about the morning's meditations; not wanting to bog her down with too much of an assignment. Everyone deserved a little bit of free time to themselves.

Kidd and Bastila sat, and quietly watched the rest of the sunset. With the down of the sun, night insects arose in full force. The crickets carried on in a near perfect uniform sound, and the various other night insects carried on a little too close to Starr’s liking. Bastila gave a firm affirmation to the Jedi Knight’s comments concerning watching the spectacular sunset and enjoying it as much as the first time. She wanted to say “yes, I felt the same way when we lived in Naboo” but she didn’t as she gathered that Kidd wants total silence at the moment.

After the pair was done eating and the sun out of sight, Bastila was amazed to see Kidd clearing both of their dinner plates and whatnot off the table. “Thank you” the young Padawan said as Kidd balanced all the dinnerware, cups, etc in his hand. As they headed towards the cafeteria she repeated the Jedi Kinght’s assignment to her- just for clarification “so you want me to meditate tonight on judgment, patience and” she paused to think of the third value the Jedi mentioned- “oh and silent observation.” Starr paused to smooth the front section of her attire, and then continued “yes, sir- Jedi Knight, I will do my best on meditation on the given values.” Bastila followed the Jedi until they reached the entrance to the cafeteria where she said her good nights and headed in the direction to her room.

Giving a light bow towards his Padawan, Kidd wished her a good night, that her sleep be restful, and that the Force keep her. Then, turning down the hallway, began to make his way towards his own room. It hadn't been the most eventful day and he wasn't quite yet tired. Pushing open his door, he decided to take a late night run through the forest. He didn't do this very often; however, he was still wide awake and it would do him some good to expend some energy.

Changing into appropriate physical fitness attire, Kidd laced up his running shoes and was soon out the door as he tied a bandana about his head, keeping his hair out of his face. Without a look back, he began to jog out of the Monastery, unassisted by the Force. Tonite, he'd take a slow and easy run, not utilizing the Force to aid his speed, but rather, expanding his awareness out to what he could not see. Perhaps some day, he'd bring his Padawan out for such training, but not tonite.

It wasn't entirely dark yet as the Knight began to jog down the narrow, beaten path. There was still just enough light to see where he was going and ensure that the path before him was clear. He knew of a lake midway into the forest that he could run to. By the time he reached there, his return back to the Monastery would no doubt be a much, much darker trip, forcing him to rely more upon the Force to see his way back.

“Good day to you too Kidd,” the Padawan responded as two departed. Upon entering inside her sleeping area, Bastila sat the edge of her bed, now focusing on the task at hand. She recollected the Jedi Knight’s instruction “meditate on these values- patience, silent observation, and judgment.” Starr paused to let out a heavy sigh then proceeded with her meditation. As much as she would rather run than spend two hours meditation, she was glad she followed through with the Jedi Knight’s instructions. She will have to definitely double her running quota the next time she runs.

After her meditation, Starr got up from the edge of the bed, and walked over to the only window in her room. She saw someone with the likes of her trainer walking towards the Monastery. It appears that the figure Starr was looking at went for a long run. She kept watching the man walk closer, and alas as the man got closer she finally realized her assertions were correct; it was K. Vegas. Bastila kept watching out her window as the Jedi walked closer and closer to the Monastery and was finally out of her sight.

Starr walked away from her window, took most of her clothes off, and headed to the bathroom for a quick bath. She had planned on calling her best friend at the Coruscant to let him know how her first day of training went, but decided against it. Instead of making the call, the Padawan set her alarm for 5:00 am and called it a night.

The run back to the Monastery proved to be rather uneventful. A few creatures of the night were stirring within the forest, but nothing threatening to the young Jedi Knight. Kidd was able to speed up his pace tonite beyond his normal rate of travel for such a time of day. The wind was cool and refreshing as Vegas worked up a bit of a sweat along his path. Being out for a couple of hours, he had covered just over fifteen miles.

Making it back to his room, Kidd stripped down and stepped into the refresher, turning the water on decently hot. After washing up, he often ended up turning the water down to a cooler temperature. Sometimes even cold. Something about going to bed cool... The Knight enjoyed the feeling. Slipping quietly into bed, K. Vegas sprawled himself out atop his bed with just his sheet pulled over him as a restful sleep overtook him.

Starr was wide awake well before her alarm went off. Instead of meditating, like she had plaaned, the young Padawan fixed herself up, put on her running clothes and headed out towards the other path that leads to the forest.

The moon light worked in Starr’s favor as she did not have any other source of light on her path.

About an hour later, Starr turned back to head towards the Monastery. On her way up, she encountered one of the most amazing sunsets. Bastila continued to run through the forest, listening intently to the audible sounds made by the morning birds as they chirped away. The melodious sounds from the birds, made her totally oblivious to her path, and before she knew it, she was running clear into the path of a snake. “Yikes! Now what? This must be some kind of test,” Starr thought. Instead of giving in to her fear, the young Padawan drew on the Force- jumped up above to one of the tall branches above her, and then almost flew over on to the other side of the path- landing on her knees.

Ouch! Exclaimed Starr. One part of her was glad that she had escaped the terrifying sight of the rather large snake, the other side of her pondered on how she had managed to draw on the Force. Starr felt something dripping from her knees, looking down; she paused to examine the damage to her knees only to see blood gushing down her leg. Now completely beside herself, the young Padawan slowly walked the rest of the way to the Monastery.

She made her way inside the Monastery and headed straight into her Jedi Knight’s room, totally oblivious to her surrounding. “Surly Kidd will be able to fix this damage I have caused, or point me to doctor,” Bastila thought as she knocked on Kidd’s door.
